Tornado Questions
ok, here’s the situation, you arestandingg in the middle of a 10×10 mile square of concrete. there are no objects anywhere and an F5 tornado is coming at you, would you die if there was no flying debree?
Some people dint agree with my spelling…
[this is a non-real situation]
You are standing smack in the middle of a 10×10 square of dry concrete. 1/4 mile in front of you there is an F5 tornado. if there are no objects for it to pick up and smash into you, would you survive this event?

you wouldn’t see it coming, with no debris you would just see a funnel cloud. I don’t think you would make it if you got picked up

If I was in concrete, it’d be liek Verrazano, you mena?
I’d have been poured in and would be dead, of course. So tyou must mean somethign else, but it’s not clear… sorry.

Depends, does the tornado pick you up? Being dropped from any height onto concrete would do some damage, depending on how high you are and how you landed.

wouldnt the force of the tornado pick you up?
i mean you have nothing to hold on to so you would just fly right?…

I’d hope not. i think you could easily dodge a tornado, and even if not just let it blow you over?
paigeri16 on January 24, 2010 at 1:56 pm
ya.. if the tornado picks you up and then you fall to the ground.

Debris*
But yes F5s can rip concrete right off the ground….you would be a goner.
I want to know where this massive slab of concrete is being constructed.
ignant_slob on January 24, 2010 at 1:56 pm
Yes, you could. The wind could blow you away and the air could be sucked away from you making it hard for you to breathe. Plus you are getting pounded by air pressure and temperature changes.

YES! The speed of being whipped around would cause your brain to smash itself into a mush against your skull and possibly break your neck.
Also, you would be thrown out of the tornado, and I really doubt someone would survive the fall.

first off why are you outside in the middle of an F5 tornado?
and probably although there have been stories of people being picked up by tornado’s and being put down miles away from where they were with bearly a scratch. But the chances are much more likley that you would be picked up, thrown and killed on impact or something else along the way.
I highly suggest you stay away from tornado’s in the future.

no it wouldn’t kill me.
Here’s something player "imaflyingsaucerWAPANG!" referenced that can answer your question.
"if there is nothing around no, but if the concrete was cracked then maybe cuz it would come flyin out and hit ya upside the head and teach u a lesson.
but it might (the wind) carrie you up and whirl ya around and then ya might die idk bc i never been in dat sorta situation dude.
unless ur in dat situation now dude i wouldnt wurry dude so calm it dude.
good luck wit ur future problems DUDE!"
Or there’s this, referenced by player "dug keegan":
”If there were a tornado and nothing around you, do you think you would die? It’s very uncommon that concrete wouldn’t break in a tornado. So yes, you could possibly die. Tornadoes are strong enough to lift up concrete and any hard objectives because it’s so strong. That’s why they always say to get in a place underground to be safe."
Or there’s this referenced by "chapangtangchoochootrain":
”um man, ur maybe diying. iym nut sure if u would sry"
That’s all sorry I couldn’t help more! Good luck.

Just because there is no stuff for it to pick where you are standing does not mean that there is not debri in it..could have picked something up miles before it came to you,
Anna DiGiovanni on January 24, 2010 at 1:56 pm
Yes you would. Without proper underground shelter, you will most likely die. Although most tornado deaths are from flying debris, the wind speeds of an F5 are so strong it would most likely pick you up and toss you around, and your clothes would be ripped off your back.
But if you mean if it was a 1/4 mile away, then you would probably live because the wind speed isn’t as intense when that far away.

you probably would. If you remain very calm then you may be loose enough to bend around alittle and survvie, buteen without flyiing objects you would still be flying at speeds so fast it could rip off arms and legs. Also it will eventually spit you out probably 100 feet from the ground and you will fall probably very hard on the concrete.
good question, but a challenging one to answer scine it never has nor will it ever happen.
