Why are so people naive about tornadoes in Mass?

Tornado Questions
June 9, 1953 a F4 tornado hit Worcester County.. since we’ve had a few minor tornadoes…one hitting a town away from where I grew up in 1989.
So if an F4 tornado hit here before WHAT makes people think it won’t happen again? Isn’t that a bit naive?
well sure it was rare… but it happened all the same. and I remember the day of the 1989 tornado..I was at school still and the sky was all green and dark.. it was scary stuff.

yes it’s sad that people pretend it won’t happen, i think they pretend because they don’t want to worry about it, in wv i was a kid and there was a tornado that hit down in the southern part, first time ever, it happened once, and now they almost always have tornado winds and watches but no tornadoes so they just go on oh it won’t happen again, it’s sad really

Because they’re so rare… I’ve read quite abit about that Tornado in ’53, & there were MANY unusual things about it… But there isn’t ANYTHING in Nature so "Unusual"- that they can’t happen again… And since MANY of those things happen so infrequently- we are probably ALL pretty "naive" -about WHAT can happen Next in the weather (& a great many OTHER things- as well ). Nature’s "memories" are a LOT LONGER- than Ours…
