Who is wise among you? God’s word asks the question.?
Joseph saw 7 years of plenty followed by 7 years of devastation, so he prepared during the good times for the bad ones to come. Wouldn’t it be "wise" for us to increase the supply of oil reserves to meet the demand thus lowering the cost to us? Is any other view really being "for" the middle and lower class of any nation? Aren’t consumer price increases directly tied to the price of fuel? Who do these increases hurt the most? Yes, let’s get free from dependence upon foreign oil, but should we make so many suffer in the process? How many middle and lower class citizens will ever see Anwar? Aren’t these hurricanes like Joseph’s sign, and we’d better prepare for the drought ahead?
Why can’t we do BOTH; drill for the fuel required by the vehicles owned by those who can’t afford anything else, and search for ALL means of alternative fuel types as though our lives depended upon it? Just as Joseph did in his day.
Haynes 08, Joseph was very political, and you would have known it had you been truly wise, and we do LEARN from past mistakes, even in politics. At least, that would be refreshing!!
Edit B, Your wisdom is shining, and yes, jobs effect the lower and middle class citizens, and plenty of jobs could be made right at home if our leaders would just learn from Joseph.
Mikkiros…, you are right and glad you love the bible, but don’t forget who is in control of "mother nature". She doesn’t control God, but rather, God controls her, so don’t fear.

We need to drill not only to decrease gas prices, but also provide very good jobs and it is VITAL now to our national security!

It’s amusing that you would use that username, as truth is an integral part of wisdom.
Without the truth, wisdom cannot help you.

We can and we will but in an election year people have to be careful what they say.

This story is my favorite one in the bible, so I know much about this.
What Joseph did was he took 1/5th of all of the crops, etc grown in the seven years of plenty and stored it for the seven years of famine. Then when the famine came he sold it. Which, that alone makes perfect sense for gasoline. Take 1/5th of all of the oil/gasoline produced and store it for later use, then sale it.
And from a religious point of view, the upsurge in hurricanes and bad weather is a sign of things to come. From a religious point of view this was foretold ages ago in the Bible.
From a non-religious point of view it’s "global warming" taking effect on us. Mother nature saying "stop messing with me".

Each household should learn from the example of Joseph. Don’t’ wait for the government to do it for you. You can (I hate to use this word, but,) stockpile food, water, clothing, paper goods, cleaning items, and other things to help get you through tough times. There are a lot of websites that have calculators to help you figure out how much food you need, depending on how many adults and children you have in your household. Don’t wait for Uncle Sam, don’t wait for FEMA.
