A category 5 hurricane would have a larger path of destruction by far. A hurricane can cover many states (hundreds of miles in diameter), and cause tremendous damage in all of them. Hurricane winds are somewhat weaker than that of a tornado (compare scales), but they they stick around longer than tornadoes do. A F5 tornado is very violent and very destructive, but it doesn’t cover as much area (maybe a mile or so in diameter) as a hurricane would. They can last anywhere to a couple minutes to a couple of hours or so, but their wind speeds can be greater than that of a hurricanes, but the storm its self is a lot smaller in physical size.
There would definitely be a lot more damage done by a large hurricane, widespread.

The hurricane is destructive over a larger area than a tornado and lasts a longer period of time. A tornado leaves a relatively narrow path of destruction, but in that path it is often more destructive than most core samples taken from a hurricane. So for a given point where both have had an effect, the tornado would be more likely to be more destructive, but over a large area the hurricane would be more destructive. You would be more likely to live to tell your tale if you experienced the center of a hurricane compared to the center of a tornado.

Category 5 Hurricane covers a broader area than an F5 Tornado would…both would be devastating tho.

I live in south east Louisiana and was here for hurricane Katrina.and let me tell you. It was way worse than any pictures you have seen . The one advantage people have for hurricans is that you do get a warning but you never really know how bad its going to be. Here in Louisiana we have had so many "killer hurricane" threats but in my life time Katrina was the only one that followed through. The damage was so wide spread it was unreal.

A category 5 Hurrican is way larger and, the death toll will be more. An example is Hurricane Katrina.
