Cold fronts can form thunder storms and tornadoes, with worse storms coming when there is more difference in temperatures on the 2 sides of the front.

Tornado’s and thunderstorms are caused when a warm high pressure front, laden with moist air from the gulf of Mexico, collides with a cold low pressure front from Canada over Midwestern states.
