Tornado Shelters
i have been having reoccurring, realistic tornado dreams for years. when i have them i wake up sweating and usually shaken. in every dream a tornado appears it never gets me, but always comes close. in the dreams im always running or seeking shelter… trying to get away. ive looked it up in several dream interpretation books, but have never specifically found tornadoes in them. anyone maybe have any ideas? any answers are appreciated. thanks and have a good day!

Tornado dreams are simply the worse! I have had very similar dreams for many years as well, and I know how frustrating they can be. In the dream, you’re always running, and you’re always scared, and when you finally wake up, you feel exhausted, and sometimes they lead to waking up in a sweat.
I’ve looked into this myself, and the best explanation I can come up with seems to be this – dreams about tornadoes suggest stressful situations or a struggle in your life. It seems as if, while your brain rests and gets rid of all of the unnecessary information that it acquires, it sometimes sorts through your bad experiences, and causes you to experience uncomfortable dreams. Maybe, when you’re most stressed or fatigued, you dream about tornadoes.
It’s ok. I’ve actually gotten used to them, and I’m sure you will too.

To see a tornado in your dream, suggests that you are experiencing some extreme emotional outbursts and temper tantrums. Is there a situation or relationship in your life that may be potentially destructive?
To dream that you are in a tornado, signifies that you are feeling overwhelmed and out of control. You will be met with a series of disappointments for the next week or so. Your plans will be filled with complications.
To see several tornadoes in your dream, represent people around you who are prone to violent outbursts and shifting mood swings. It may also symbolize a volatile situation or relationship.

Well I don’t know, but I could take a guess that it may be like in dreams where you randomly fall off a cliff after running from something unknown.
When you fall off a cliff, it’s because you are scared to face something.
And I’m wandering if it is the same with that dream as you are still running away from something.
So if there is something you aren’t telling someone that makes you feel guilty or are too afraid to do something, that may be the problem.
Hope I helped!

Tornadoes are pretty common in dreams, actually. The subconscious uses it as a symbol for vague, broad feelings of risk. This is usually triggered by some behavior or an environment that the subconscious sees as putting you at risk – either financial, emotional, or (possibly but rarely) physical. But the subconscious is really frightened by change, which it considers dangerous because for animals and primitive humans, it was. If you relocate, graduate, change jobs, etc, your subconscious is very nervous about this, so any planned or possible major changes make these kinds of dreams almost mandatory. If you are not facing or anticipating a major change, though, consider what other activity you are involved in that could be making your subconscious send out the "red alert" about risk.
