I keep having this recurring dream where my uncle Richard and I are trapped in a thunderstorm and we decide to run to the storm shelter. Once there Richard takes off his shirt and is glistening like a beautiful Greek demigod. He then asks me if I’d like to go jackoff in a tornado, and I oblige. We end up tying our belts to a utility pole and masturbate in the middle of a furious tornado.

What could this mean?

2)What makes some thunderstorms more severe than others?

3)Explain how a hurricane forms.

4)Describe the weather pattern that causes droughts, and explain how it is similar to the weather pattern that causes a heat wave.

5) A community in Texas broadcasts public service announcements on tornado safety. Would the broadcast be more effective right before winter, spring, summer, or fall? Explain your answer.

6)Could a hurricane form over the northern Atlantic, off the eastern coast of Canada? Explain your answer.

7) Why are people who live along the coast or other low -lying areas often in more danger from hurricanes than people who live inland?

8) A Category 4 hurricane has just become a Catergory 5. Explain what has happened to air pressure in the storm and the strengh of its winds.

9) Could the atmospheric conditions that cause a drought also cause the formation of a suppercell? Explain your answer.

I live in the midwest, Michigan to be exact – in a small suburb of Flint. We have been having odd weather lately – last night, a horrbile thunderstorm. The day before, scorching heat. The day before that – it was SUPER humid and windy! What the heck!

It’s not just us – it’s all of the midwest. 2 days ago in Milwaukee, WI there was a tornado warning. The next day, there was another one! In fact, there has been about 16 reported tornadoes in the midwest. Crazy! Anyone have any clue why this is happening? Anything is appreciated. :]

In the video below, they said that a thunderstorm was CAPABLE of producing a tornado. Wouldn’t a tornado watch be iissued instead of a warning since a watch indicates possible storm formation and a warning indicates a storm is already present or has been picked up by Doppler Radar?

I think that the heavier rain bands stay to the south of the eye, and the more thunderstorm-like cells stay to the north and east, but I don’t know if that’s right.

Thanks!

How does a cold front produce a super cell thunderstorm? And how does a super cell thunderstorm create a tornado? Please be specific.

we are under a tornado watch, but appear to be clear of thunderstorms. Is it possible to have a tornado without actually having a thunderstorm or rain clouds? Can tornados form out of regular old clouds due to wind sheer from a tropical system?

i’m just north of l.a., ca… it started getting pretty windy outside so i looked up the weather and there was a severe weather alert, this is what it says…

..THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. THE LOS ANGELES BASIN
IS EXPECTED TO RECEIVE MOST OF ITS RAINFALL FRIDAY AFTERNOON INTO
FRIDAY NIGHT. ANY THUNDERSTORM WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING BRIEF
HEAVY RAINS AND SMALL HAIL. DUE TO THE COLD AND UNSTABLE NATURE OF
THIS STRONG UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM…CONDITIONS WILL ALSO
BE FAVORABLE FOR POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT AND FUNNEL CLOUD ACTIVITY.

oops sorry for the CAPS it just copied it that way… but seriously though, waterspouts and funnel clouds? i’m from ohio so we have tornadoes pretty regularly… i’ve never heard of one out here, and i’ve talked to lots of people out here about tornadoes. i know they can happen anywhere… but this sounds like an exaggeration? is it going to be that bad?

ps – any time it rains here people think it’s a "storm" so…

What are the "safety shelters" along rural highways in Pennsylvania and Maryland (and probably other places) supposed to protect you from? They are the things that are all steel, roughly 7′x7′x7′ with an open front facing the road and some have a billboard on the side and/or a "safety shelter" triangular sign on top. Some are only a few hundred feet from each other, others are several miles apart. Is it supposed to be for people walking in the middle of nowhere if there’s a tornado or thunderstorm? They aren’t underground, so I’d probably rather stay in my car if the weather got severe and I was driving out there. Or are they cold war relics or something? They look to be like 50 or so years old.

I do not know if this is confirmed or yet, but I was just watching abc channel and it just said there was a thunderstorm and tornado warning in San Bernadino County.

Anyone know if this is true or not? Because I live in OC and I am fairly close.
Yes i know san bernadino is in california, but by OC I mean Orange County.

Usually when there is a thunderstorm, I get really anxious and my heart start to beat fast. I also pace and can’t stay still for more than a couple of minutes. Severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings also worry me a lot more.

My internet connection during a thunderstorm nearly always goes down (I have Verizon high speed DSL). My television picture also goes down because I have Satellite.

This usually adds to my fear because I have no idea whats going on.

Anyways, what do you think I can do to drive away my fear of thunderstorms?

Thanks in advance,
Craig K.

I get extremely paranoid every time a thunderstorm starts that it’s going to fade into a tornado. So, what are some key differences to stop me from worrying so much?
Is the sky guaranteed to be darker? How will it feel outside?

Here me out first.

Alot of people will argue "well why live in california or florida with the earthquakes and hurricanes." I’ll give you the california argument. I mean who wants to live in a place called "The ring of fire", yeah that makes me feel safe. lol.

But a least in florida you can see that thing coming two weeks in advance. I f you choose to ride out a category 5 hurricane in your cheap wooden house maybe you deserve to die, maybe that was a little harsh but you really shouldn’t stay there.

Tornodoes just come out of nowhere, we get a few of those in florida too so I know.

I can’t say Florida is complety safe because were still the lighting capital of the world, even though it’s still pretty rare to get hit by one, we have to worry about sharks and idiot drivers. But most of it is avoidable.

I could get killed while I’m sleeping by a tornado if I live in Nebraska or Kansas. Just the thought of being nice and cozy one minute and being sucked out of my window the next scares the bejesus out of me. I would not want to sleep during a thunderstorm in Nebraska.

Plus what’s there to do in nebraska but wait til college football and farm? Sorry I just had to throw that out there.

p.s.

With all this being said, I just want to let everyone know that I don’t have any phobias or control issues. It was just a thought.

For science class again, I need a downloadable video of a lightning and thunderstorm with LOUD thunder and really cool lightning splitting trees in half and striking objects and burning them and stuff. We need to win the competition of the worst storm, with yahoo answers help I think we can win beacause I’ve seen a lot of websites saying they r more deadly than hurricanes and tornadoes so YOUR VIDEO OD SUPER SICK STORMS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!

Tornado warning is for midnight
We are getting a Tornado warning for New York. I live in Jamaica, Queens. I see thunderstorms coming. My children are seeing television and I am on the computer. How does it struck, all of a sudden or it sends winds as warning then we have time to run to the basement.
Depending who is closer will get hit first.
The tornado turned and all we had was a thunderstorm warning and floods. Thanks!

My husband, myself and some other people were in the california desert during a thunderstorm yesterday.A "twirling" wind was spotted, larger than any dustdevil we had seen. Two kids had debri(awning and tree branches) fall on them, fences were shredded,it had branches inside it as it was moving. It showed up a minute or so after some activity(lightning, sprinkle of rain, thunder) came from the storm.

What part of a thunderstorm do tornadoes tend to form? How come whenever I see a picture or video of a tornado, there’s no rain? Thanks.

Time was, when the sirens went off, you had 2-3 minutes to get to the shelter.

About 8PM in KC, the sirens went off near my apartment, but the warning only indicated "a thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado".

Too many false alarms, and people will start ignoring them.

i live in waukesha, wisconsin. we just got hit by a big thunderstorm. there was a tornado warning issued for us, there was a report of two funnel clouds, and at least a few sitings of a tornado, the report of the tornado is still an unconfirmed. there were a lot of lighting, and rough winds.
it has since passed over to other counties in the area. it left many without power, downed trees, one possible house struck by lighting, lots of street flooding, the fox river and pewaukee river are rising fast., i passed our library and saw one tree down, i heard on the news that an antique store’s roof had collapsed. i walked down the street to it and saw parts of it’s roof in the street, and parts of the ceiling tiles on the floor, and about an inch of water surrounding the floor.
just wanted to share my eventful afternoon.

I am a california guy all the way but my kids live in texas. I would like to move to texas but frankly I don’t want to live like a mole living underground every time I see a thunderstorm, I would soil myself if I seen one of these monsters! now these things pick up and throw a car like a toy and they even rip up streets. I’ve read that if you are outside go to a ditch, wouldn’t this just pull you out and throw you across the state? and then I read that you go to a center of the house where no windows are, but again these monsters just take a house and throws it across the state.people there including my kids are not afraid of tornados, these things seem to happen so often I’m surprized that anyone could live in such a place? my questions are, should I have a house built underground and work from home, or just go visit in the winter ?
