Prologue

Slowly I am losing sight of you. Your picture becomes more and more vague with each day, until it will become transparent. I will forget you eventually, and move on. Time can’t heal my heart, but it can cover the scars up with a mask. A mask made by one person. But who? Once again, only time can tell. Only time can tell when I’ll lose sight of you, too.

You are like the only storm cloud rumbiling above my head. You created the thunder, and I created the lightning. Just like any glorious storm, we were two elements that had to be put together. Rain and clouds, sun and rainbows, and of course, thunder and lightning.

Together we stood; but together doesn’t last forever.

There are also storms that don’t usually last long at all. Like tornadoes.

You were my tornado. You came and went in an instant, taking my barely beating heart with you.

Even though, I will continue to wake up. Even though I will be crying on the inside, I will still remember to breathe. Not for you, though. For me.

I’m not the same person anymore. Instead I’m the me you have made. Bruised, scratched, beaten, and tossed in the trash like garbage.

Weather in Washington State?

I am thinking about going to college in Washington, but I’m not sure how the weather is….i know it rains… a lot, but I don’t mind the rain. I’m more concerned with snow (EW!), natural disasters (earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.) A friend told me that they don’t get hurricanes out there because the water in the pacific is too warm…is this true? Any info about weather in Washington state is appreciated Thanks in advance to everyone

Why don't you ever see hurricanes?

This has been bugging me for quite a while now. Why is it that every photograph of a hurricane is taken by satellite, rather than from ground view? And how come people never see the actual funnel cloud? Is it too far away? Every time I google image search for a hurricane, I get either satellite photos of a cyclone or pictures of rain and wind blowing things away. No funnel cloud.

Does the actual funnel cloud reach land and cause damage like tornadoes do?

Why do parents freak out and teach their children to freak out in storms?

Why not educate the children and teach them safety and have plans in place for disasters? I hate seeing kids scared because of wind or rain. If parents taught them to deal with natural disasters and stayed calm it would help the children much better. I had a tornado go over my home and have been in one so I know what it is like. We saw the destruction afterwards but were safe and calm…most around us just ran around like chickens with their heads cut off.

What are your thoughts?

Tornados in California?

A few months ago Foster City, CA had a emergency alert system pop up on the tv and stated there was a warning that a tornado was headed our way from near the golden gate bridge or some crap and im just trying to figure out if california is at risk for tornados in the winter/spring months because that was the 1st scare ive EVER had/heard about in the 25 years ive been alive. can anyone explain this to me? it pretty much scared the crap out of me and now im terrified of thunderstorms/storms in general.
so then whats the difference between a twister and a tornado? are twisters life threatening or do the damage houses? do you believe that the tornados we could actually have here in california cause any damage to roofs, windows, harm humans?
@ shhhh-its me: yes, it was about a month ago and they notified all of the bay area about it. it was raining really hard that day with 70 mph winds which arent likely over here at all… so ya, it freaked me out a lot! now im terrified its going to happen again when theres rain or thunder or strong winds..

Why still under a tornado watch when the storms are gone?

I am under a tornado watch until 9pm. However looks like the line of storms from the front will be out of the area long before then. If the storms are gone, and I don’t see rain on the radar coming, can I still get a tornado? Why a tornado watch until 9pm?

Why are people so stupid when a huge tornado is coming?

The tuscaloosa, alabama tornado and others, on the live footage and tower cams on the news, there were people driving near these tornadoes. Don’t they realize that they are putting themselves in danger? Why keep driving when there is a strudy structure with a basement next to you to those who think "i reckon it justa tornader, it’ll rain tomaters and nuffin else" Was the reason the death toll was so high (higher than the super outbreak I think, btw this I consider to be the super outbreak 2) because of the stupidity of the people? RIP to all the victims.

Can we prevent tornadoes from developing by using cloud-sucking machines and weather rockets?

and rain dispersal rockets. They can suck up most of the moisture in the air, and change the direction of movement of the storm clouds.

If China has used it during its olympics to prevent rainfall, it would be even better to use it to prevent tornadoes from developing, because it is formed from destructive cumulonimbus clouds.

Any suggestions?

I think I may be contradicting myself and I think I take the whole situation in the prologue a little too far.. So please tell me what I need to do..

Prologue

You were my tornado. You came and went in an instant, taking my barely beating heart with you.

Some people say the sun will forever shine. Idiots. The sun eventually will fade out, just as I will, too. All because of you. All because you banished me from plain sight, just like any king would do.

Do you see the hole in my heart? You created it. You’re what formed the ache, the utter pain that will not diminish.

You are what makes me cry at night, and drag my feet in the morning.

You’ve beaten me down to a pulp, run me over, and then kicked me while I was down. While I was screaming curses in my head, and I solemnly swore never to lend my heart out again. Ever.

Not that I even have a heart anymore. That thumping sound coming from my chest? Its a decoy. You’re meant to think I’m alive. I am, but barely. I still have an uncreased amount of life energy. Its at its minimum, though. Its not at all what it used to be.

You made sure of that. You had to assure yourself that I was so done for that you could move on.

This is what you wanted.

You wanted to see the tears, you wanted to stomp on me repeatedly, until my breath caught in my throat.

And even though I’m bruised, scratched, beaten, and tossed in the trash like garbage, I still want to live. No matter how much you’ve killed me already.

Even though it feels like glass has been jabbed in my still beating heart, I will continue living life, no matter how shattered I am. I will continue my daily regime just as I had before. However, I won’t be smiling in the mirror any longer.

All thanks to you.

To make it even worse, I am forced to see your heart-breaking face everyday I continue to live and breathe. I could be like the other girls. Jumping happily, beaming bright, fake, toothy smiles, oblivious to the world and whom lives in it.

Like you. You’re just another jerk that goes on breaking girl’s hearts.

However, I will continue to wake up. Even though I will be crying on the inside, I will still remember to breathe. Not for you, though. For me.

What could i possibly do to not get paranoid by tornadoes ?

I am frantic and i am scared to death by tornadoes, the other day i was at work in my office building on the 30th floor and i saw the weather getting pretty bad with all the lightning and rain so i decided to go home and check on my wife. So immediately i left what i was doing and head for the express elevator, on the way down i got an weather channel notice on my iphone of a tornado warning and franticly rushed home. So i drove home on the interstate and the weather was pretty bad while everyone was seeking shelters as the sirens went off like crazy for 45 minutes. When i got home my wife was in the closet and she asked me why i left work, i said i was scared that she would’ve gotten hurt. She started crying and said why did you risk your life running home like that, you could have gotten killed and left me. She said that she would’ve been perfectly fine and that i should see my doctor because of how paranoid i am with these tornadoes. Do you think i should go see my doctor like she told me ? She said she doesn’t want me to do this again because she said i might not be lucky next time. The tornado didn’t hit us it dissipated about a mile from our house.

WASHINGTON BEACH
The girl with the long, silky, brown hair was relaxing on the nice warm, white sand. She loved the salty smell of the ocean, and the soothing sounds the waves made when they curled and spread out. She always got caught up in her head when, the sun hit the water, and made the skies light up in colors of earth tones. No one could ruin this moment, but the storm. It was starting to take over the sea, forcing the water to start to rumble. The clouds began pushing the sun, down with its force, making the color run afar.
Then a streak of lightning struck! She had awakened, and fell right down to reality. She quickly got up, and scuttled home. Rain was falling, as if the clouds were weeping. When she had gotten home her mother was outside yelling, “Ariel! Ariel! Get in the basement! Hurry! Grab your dog and get in the basement!” Arial stood there for a second. Then she ran into the urban styled house, scooped up the tiny dog at the door, and put him in the dark, clammy basement. She turned around, and saw the harsh storm coming! The wind was picking up over by the mountain. It started to swirl, like the dog when he chases his tail. Her mother grabbed her by the arm and pulled her in the basement while shutting the doors. “I hope your father is ok” she said, lighting the candles.
“Mom, daddy is fine.” Ariel picked up her little Chihuahua, and put him in the pen they kept for him, and turned the radio on. “Are we going to be ok? I was down by the beach, and it got grave fast.” “Sweetie, I’m sure we will be fine. Our home might not be.” They both chortled, and sat down. They pondered upon the noises coming from outside. A few hours later the sounds had stopped. The man on the radio said the tornado has died down and is now just finishing and for everyone to remain calm. “Mom, you know when they say remain calm that’s just when I start to worry.” “Oh, stop that, he is just trying to be helpful. Now, let’s listen to what he has to say.”
The man continued and said, “We are very sorry to report this, but almost all of Washington beach is gone. To everyone who is tuning in I repeat Washington beach is almost completely gone. The storm came up on us like a cockroach.” The radio started making ludicrous noises, and gave out. “Oops, I had forgotten to put new batteries in. I am so sorry.”
“Its ok mom, we don’t need that radio anyways. I just can’t believe our home is gone. It is gone just like everything else right? It went so quick.
Mom! What are we going to do?” “We are going to find a phone when we can get out of here, and call your father. He will know what to do next.” Both of them were ready to see the destruction that had occurred. Mother lifted the door of the basement. “Gasp! Er..Uhh..Ariel, Darling, you stay in here and keep an eye on the dog for me. I don’t want her getting hurt; besides she is just a little baby.”
“Mom, I’m not a baby. I am twelve years old! I think I can handle what it looks like.” Mother looked at Ariel and said “Ok, but you still have to stay here so I know where you are.” She took out her distinct, glossy, ebony colored cell phone and held it up towards the evolving sky. “Hmm… No Signal. You have to stay here; I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t find you out there. It is jeopardous out here! Please stay here with the dog.” “Fine, I will stay.” Mother left in search to find a working phone.
After about thirty minutes, Ariel couldn’t take it anymore. She had to go out there. “I could just take a peek. I mean it’s not like a crime or anything, and mom would never know.” She said. “Oh! I have to find a way to bring you, Butterscotch.” She then started searching for an old purse she used to carry him in. “Here it is!” She took the purple bag with the bright orange letters on it, and put the dog in the bag. “Now, let’s go on an adventure.”
She slipped her bright pink rain boots on, and opened the door. To her surprise there was nothing there! Her house wasn’t even there. She just stared at what was left of her white and green, urban styled home. She then looked towards the beach. “Well, at least the beach is there. Although, how could a beach not be there, it has to be there.”
She stepped out of the basement and glanced at a figure from afar. He stopped then started running towards her. “Ariel! I’m so glad I found you! Where on earth have you been?!? Everyone is supposed to be at the town meeting! Common!” he said with a shriek voice. Ariel looked at him with no emotions. “What is the meeting about?”
“I don’t know that’s why we have to go!!! Common!! We have to get going!” The boy pulled on her arm. “Danny, is your house ok?” He didn’t reply. “Danny!” Danny stopped and said, “My house got picked up by the storm.” “Oh, I’m sorry” “No, it’s ok. No one has a house anyways. This whole Island is covered with house materials. It is a disgrace this happened; I wonder where everyone else is.” “I don’t know. I was lying on the beach before the storm. Everyone had gone home, but I didn’t notice.”
“We need to get to that meeting Ariel.” They both started on their way to the meeting. On the way they saw all the real damage that had happened. Trees in the middle of the football stadium, nothing but rubbish everywhere, houses were in streets, and lights were even on the beach! It seemed like there wasn’t even grass, or sand. “Nothing but crap!” “Oh, common Danny we can clean it up. We can make the best of this. This can be the start of a new beginning.” “This could also be a new ending Ariel!” “Stop thinking like that! Now, let’s just get there!” They finally arrived at the meeting. The entire town’s people, along with their leftover belongings, were there.
The mayor had just begun to speak, when they had arrived. The whole town was chattering amongst themselves. The Mayor stood on an old table he had spotted, and said, “Silence! This meeting will go by shortly if we can all participate! Thank you. Now, I as mayor am going to see to it that we can get some help, but until then we all have to work together. Before anyone interrupts me, I would like to say this couldn’t get any worse. You as the people need to get together all the food you have. We will feed everyone equally, and fairly, but first we need order. This means we will have certain groups with certain jobs to fulfill. Everyone must do there job! Ok, so are there any questions, before I give out jobs?” Ten people raise their hands as high as they can reach. “Ok, good no questions. I want everyone in age groups. All the kids by that tire, everyone in there teens by that limping tree thing, Oh! and all the adults over by that bus.” Everyone had started to chit-chat, as they moved. “I told everyone to be quiet! You people must be quiet!”
After everyone had there jobs, Ariel took it upon herself to seek her friends.
Is it bad writing?.. I feel it falls into bad writing. what do you think?

A Nightmare About A Tornado Outbreak & Abandonment. What Does It All Mean?

Last night I had a nightmare. I call it a nightmare because I was scared by it, in fact, I’m scared to go to sleep because of this dream. From what I remember, I was at my house & there was a tornado coming towards it so I tried to take shelter in my kitchen but went outside the back door instead where I ended up in an alley. A giant tornado roared right by me in the alley only a few feet away from me. Then I remember me & a bunch of people from my school were at this giant building in a city & the building had halls like a maze sort of. I felt like we were safe but one part of the building was missing so I saw a news lady doing a news report & there was a giant tornado heading towards her & I told her & she turned around & started screaming. I felt scared too & when I looked behind me or anywhere there was a window, there was a giant tornado heading towards me. My gym teacher came up to me & told me to run, so I ran around the building warning everyone in my school so they ran out of the building screaming & by the time they got out of the building, it was night time & there was nothing left but rain. So they all got mad at me & left me alone basically to die & telling me I’m a liar & a bitch & that they hoped the next tornado would come for me. So they all left except me. So the city was completley empty & the wind started to pick up so I picked up the phone & called my dad scared & crying cuz I heard something that sounded like another tornado so I called him up & told him to come fast & hurry before I die. So then he didn’t come fast enough & I ran back into the building which was completley empty & took shelter in the bathroom. I then heard something behind the window, but it wasn’t a tornado, but one of the English teachers at my school. She was outside in the rain talking to me, & then I woke up. But it was some scary shit. Try being chased by TORNADOES! A BUNCH OF THEM. Why did I have this dream about a giant tornado outbreak & being abandoned to die?

Is La Nina fading? This La Nina is nothing like the 2009 or 2008 La Ninas?

Normally, La Nina Winters are dry and warm here in South Texas. December of 2010 was the classic La Nina winter month. We did not receive any rain at all during the month, and averaged 3 degrees above average. However, there were some not so La Nina type weather in other parts of the country.
Florida saw one of its coldest Decembers on record – something not normal for a "strong" La Nina.
The extreme snowfall of the Midwest was normal.
The wettest December on record for Southern California was not.
I can understand if this were a weak La Nina ( weak La Ninas and weak El Ninos can flip either way )
However, in moderate to strong La Ninas, the history is pretty straight forward.
The last La Nina winter, 2008-2009 yielded the worst drought in Texas since 1917 for the 2009 year, along with the hottest summer in the states history. January 2009 was the 10th coldest of record for Chicago with -18 on the 16th.
Fastforward to this January La Nina now. Chicago has yet to record any sub-zero temperatures for the winter.
In my town, we had our first tornado on record in South Texas a week ago ( a longtract 21 mile tornado)
This weekend, a second Low Pressure system yielded 2.5 inches of rain on Saturday night/Sunday morning, adding to the 1.50 that fell last week.
Winter is normally our dryest time of the year, and January, being the dryest month of the year.
In La Nina winters, we average only a half inch of rain in January. This month, we have had nearly 4 inches – in fact, we are in the top 10 wettest on record just from two thunderstorms.
Extreme cold has been absent from the upper midwest – La Ninas are famous for their supercold in this region.
