I heard that Republicans prayed for rain at the DNC. But does rain kill people like a hurricane does?

My boyfriend and I have lived in california for too long we hate the city life we want to get far away from it as possible! We want a place that has good weather like no tornado’s we don’t care about snow, rain or thunder. There also has to have a lot of hunting areas and places to go ride horses. We were thinking wyoming so if you live there please tell me what its like!

ive recently been trying to find some old movies i used to watch back when i was around 3-6 (im 15 now). i have very vague memories of them and im trying to piece together their story lines so i can try and find them but im having a bit of trouble :P

i already found one that i was looking for, there just two more.

(dont mind the little, probably useless details i might throw in)

the first one was half animation and half real people, at the beginning there was a kid riding a bike, i think it was yellow, and there were some kids jumping their bikes off a ramp, it starts to rain and the kid takes shelter in a library, something happens and then hes inside a book or something, which is now animated. i cant remember the middle part of the movie but at the end there is some big tornado-like thing made of books and some kinda blue light, and he gets sucked into it and hes back to where he was in the library as a real person, then he goes outside and jumps the bike ramp, or something, im not too sure, he might have jumped the bike ramp at the start :/ and i think at some point while hes out the front of the library a street light blows up or something >.< i cant remember.

the second movie i really think is a lost cause, all i can remember is that at the beginning theres a kid in a house, it might be real life people, it might be animated, i know the middle and end parts of the movie is animated, but i dont know if the start is, but anyway some kids in his house and it starts raining or something happens and theres a flood in the house, the kid is transformed into a little animal and they chill in the house or something for a bit, theres a bunch of other animals there too, but somewhere in the middle i think they go into a city, and then at the end there is some big storm and i think a rooster dies and is brought back to life in the middle of the storm, thats all i can remember >.<

thanks for your time and any details on the movies im trying to remember would be helpful, even little memories you might have of them, thank you again ^_^
no luck yet sorry >.<
ROCK A DOODLE!!! OMG XD thank you so much!!!
page master, yup thats it :D thank chuu

This is kinda like a "what if" question. This is a horrible disaster, and it is hurricane season. Would oil "get" into the rain, since water evaporates, to form rain? If this did happen it would be a disaster, or is it possible it would just be like a normal hurricane, with oil having no effect at all?

can you please tell me what we seen or what happened? i’m thinking a tornado or waterspout but friends say its a freak thing that nobody will believe.

i live in wisconsin next a river. last night me and some friends where sitting outside on the patio. it was lighting out typical storm for our area. then around 2 a.m. everything went eerily quiet no wind no ran and in the distant you heard this sound of a jet plane (like when they fly right above) we sorta just shrugged it off as some idiot trying to fly well we had sever warnings out. it kept coming closer and ears hurt and i actually could hear the jet sound (i’m severly deaf) trees bent a bit more to east. i do remember at this time telling my friends i don’t feel good something is wrong with me they told me that of course i would be sick (9 weeks pregnant) its morning sickness eat a cracker. then my boyfriend made how his ears popped. i then told everyone how faint i felt and how everything seemed to be going in slow motion with this feeling like i could hardly breath. others said they felt that to but didn’t feel the rumbling i could. well all a sudden the lighting came faster and brighter with thunder that sounded like a motorcyle just starting up. i became so obsessed with this one lighting bolt that only hit in one spot then i noticed this white circle of like waves dancing in the water it jumped and moved oddly i told all my friends to look at it. suddenly one of my friends screamed "run get inside NOW!" so we did but as we got to the door the white circle in the river came closer to the edge and the wind was so strong it moved chairs and pushed you, the rain hurt when it hit your body. we made it in turned around and noticed there was a black rope like coming from just above the tree line across the lake going crooked to the lake. the thing the rope was attached to was a very very dark black whippsy cloud edge that was yet thick like cotton not normal thin clouds. when it was over it sounded like a jet plane had just move past you over head and left with a weird hiss sound and suddenly the pressure and everything went away. we went outside and no damage accept a few bird houses knocked down and some yard stuff tipped.
the lighting was ground to cloud. and we did spot a cloud in sky that had a bouncing orange tint ball bouncing but as soon as we noticed the the sound it was gone. but the black rope did lead to that cloud.

In winter it does rain and the stables I live by are just a couple miles from the beach. It can get as low as the twenties late at night.
Then in winter and fall the weather is slightly bi-polar. One week it’s warm, the next it’s freezing. So I’d like another blanket for that weather when it gets chilly.
Then there’s summer. I would think a simple fly sheet would be fine.
Year round temp averages for my stable’s area: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huntington_Beach,_California#Climate
Also, I plan on clipping my horse.

Also the stalls at my stable are 12×24 half covered stalls. That is only half of the top is covered and only the two long sides are covered. This is the first time I’ve seen a stable like this that doesn’t just have sand for footing. The stables require that bedding be placed down. Now I have no problem with this except when it rains more bedding than usual gets wet. I’d get stable approval but would it be inappropriate/wrong/harmful/non-beneficial of me to cover the other half of the stall’s roof during the heavy rainy season? I’d probably build some kind of plank I could bolt down so I didn’t have flapping tarp scaring my horse or the possibility of it being ripped off and injuring another equine in the case of heavy wind/another tornado. I think it would be better so I wouldn’t have to worry so much about muddy hooves.

I paid 37.00 to see them, i stood in the rain for hour’s, i waited in traffic for miles, i helped a girl in a wheelchair with no legs get right to the stage front, i braved the weather alongside 50,000 others who purchased a ticket that clearly states ‘rain or shine’, the tornado sirens have been going off all day and yet other bands played through, after they announced we all need to leave for our safety i noticed that aic’s road crew remained on stage but aic was no where in sight. does aic value their lives more than their crew’s? i’m not sure i will ever go see a group with these kind of values again.

We have 6 cats and a huge mutt. we live in a garage apt. in the country and we are surrounded by huge, and I mean HUGE trees.
We are expecting tornadoes and 50 mph winds, 5 inches of rain in 1 day, etc. Well, it is 12:02 a.m. Tuesday and we have no place to go. Last time I went to my b.f.’s with all the pets but we cant go there anymore cuz a tornado caused a 300 yr. old oak to fall right in the center of it and smashed it!! So, what would you folks do? The dog is in the garage right now, and I feel that is the safest place to be. Normally, I would load everyone up in the car but we only have 1 car and there would be no room for cages and the huge dog. Please let me know what you folks would do, especially before we lose the power! And there are no shelters to take all of us. thanx, and please wish us luck!!!!!!!!!
Nature girl, I want to personally thank you for your answer. How you managed to get out of the house fire with all of your animals is beyond me! All of my animals are rescue animals as well. We have lived thru much worse weather, and even tho this is ‘only’ a tropical storm, we can get hurricaine winds. I can’t squeeze everyone in the bathroom, there is just no way, so, we will just have to play things by ear. No matter where the kitties are hiding I can always find them, and only if a tree falls on the roof will we be in danger. I WONT even think about a tornado!!! Puhleeze!!! But this sure as heck aint no Katrina, but we are going to get hit the hardest in all of Florida – just my luck, lol!

thanx to all the well-wishers out there, but Nature Girl, you gave me strength! thanx again! – Lauren

I am frantic and i am scared to death by tornadoes, the other day i was at work in my office building on the 30th floor and i saw the weather getting pretty bad with all the lightning and rain so i decided to go home and check on my wife. So immediately i left what i was doing and head for the express elevator, on the way down i got an weather channel notice on my iphone of a tornado warning and franticly rushed home. So i drove home on the interstate and the weather was pretty bad while everyone was seeking shelters as the sirens went off like crazy for 45 minutes. When i got home my wife was in the closet and she asked me why i left work, i said i was scared that she would’ve gotten hurt. She started crying and said why did you risk your life running home like that, you could have gotten killed and left me. She said that she would’ve been perfectly fine and that i should see my doctor because of how paranoid i am with these tornadoes. Do you think i should go see my doctor like she told me ? She said she doesn’t want me to do this again because she said i might not be lucky next time. The tornado didn’t hit us it dissipated about a mile from our house.

I can’t wait till summer, cause that when tornados might appear. But, is it weird that I have obsession about wanting to see a tornado?
lol. Once there was a big storm, and I thought there be tornados, sirens where going off, and for some odd reason I was hoping to see one. (I was outside, getting home from school, we got out early from the weather…and was infact soaken wet! and scared as hell!). But all together it was so damn fun! And hiding in your basement, w/ur family was fun… cause you hear the thunder and shake of ur house. But no Tornado at all! Whatss with that?!
But this year, I’m gonna try to spot one. I’ll just stand outside my door in the rain, and look for a tornado…. and when I see one I’ll snap a picture and run inside, and hide in the basement :)
I’ve got it planed all out.

(My dream job is to be one of those tornado chaser peoples lolz)

Please put what state you live in and why?

This question was inspired by this news article http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123448309305579825.html.

I live in California and even though our financial systems a mess, I wouldn’t move. I like living here mainly because of the weather. I live inland, in between San Francisco and Sacramento the weather here is at most windy. We get rain and some storms but nothing else. We got hail for the first time in a couple of years. The only thing you have to worry about in California is earthquakes and those don’t happen very often and where I live the last big one in San Franciso I didn’t even feel.

No Hurricanes, No Tornadoes, No snow,No deadly floods that’s my California. If that changed I’d probably move.

We had a tornado earlier this week and there are a lot of homeless people around here. the storm was strong and the rain flooded a lot of basements I haven’t seen any homeless people since the storm and this was the second to pass us since I can remember this time we had warnings and I was wondering if any of you will allow a homeless person into your home when there is a powerful storm. Since the first tornado my mother had told us that if there is anyone trapped outside we should help them but will you? I want honest answers please.

I live in southern California, where it never rains. lol!
Here, we have seen much rain and it will be raining throughout the week, into the weekend. I have not seen this much rain in fifteen years.
We are also under a tornado watch, which is unheard of here. The winds are predicted to get up to 40mph or higher tomorrow, aside from the warning today.
Usually what happens here, moves on across the country (USA) with increasing intensity.
Could the earthquake in Haiti be the reverberating cause of our weather patterns here?
It is all connected…
Thank you Mark, I feel a ‘little’ better now…
And thanks to jacjolantern too! :D

I live in Northern California. We want to move out of state, but not sure where, because I haven’t done much traveling in my life, I’ve lived here forever.

We want:
- Lower cost of living (renting a room here costs 0-0/mo)
- Friendlier people
- Cooler weather (no more 120 degree summers!)
- Conservative community would be nice
- CLOSE TO NATURE! (within 45-60 minute drive)

We don’t want:
- tons and tons of snow for many months
- Liberalism
- rain for months and months
- super small communities (pop 3000 or less)
- big cities (over pop. 300,000)
- hurricanes or tornado zones (where they occur very frequently – not just occasionally)

I know it sounds picky, but if we’re going to up and leave our friends and family behind, we want it to be the perfect place.

Anyone?
Hawkeye: which Kansas City? Missouri??

Last tornado to hit California
AUG 30, 2000 6:45 PM No deaths No injuries Tornado scale: F1
Date of last tornado: 1/20/2010

Drought occurred in Lemoore, California, and lasted three whole years. After conserving, and almost about to give up, rainfall hits the area suddenly with much more rain then they’ve had before.

Tornado in Texas. January 20, 2010.
Snow in Texas was here just a few weeks ago.

Freeze occurred in California.
New York had a day over 71 degrees a week or so into winter.
There is no snow in the Alps.

I’m just wondering what all of this strange weather is happening outside of the United States?
Are there any strange weather phenomenons occurring ever since this "Global Warming?"
And please give me some reference sites.
