When I was a kid I think I remember my mom telling me something about that rain and tornadoes couldn’t happen at the same time. Is this (or anything like it) true? And if so, why?

Freeze occurred in California.
New York had a day over 71 degrees a week or so into winter.
There is no snow in the Alps.
I’m just wondering what all of this strange weather is happening outside of the United States?

ok i live in jacksonville fl and fay is supposed to be hitting us today and i keep watching the weather channel and i don’tt mind thunder,lighting,rain,poweroutagess but i keep see reports about tornadoes and the damage the storm has cause and they say they fay is gonna head off shore and it might strengthen and hit our area next. (lucky us.)i know that tornadoes come in many different forms like rain wraps,water spouts,etct ect. ive been amazingly terrified of tornadoes ever since i heard that they can kill people. as of right now the sky is already dark and its only 11 30 in the morning. . if there is a tornado in my area then what kind should it be depending on the storm? and would it hit my house since i live on the west side(i kind of live near flat land)?I’m sooooo terrified i dont want to die i dont want to lose my house im just starting out my high school year and i dont wanna lose my high school oppurtunities!! and if a tornado is heading my way how should i prepare????a and how do i calm my nerveesss????? im sooo terried! and what kind of tornado would it be? I have a Sony camcorder. The model number is DCR-TRV830. I’m looking for a rain cover that would allow me to film with the LCD screen open. I also want the rain cover to not interfere with the quality and view of the video. I’m planning on filming major hurricanes, tornadoes, and lighting shows. What would be the best rain cover for me to purchase?

Where i live (Oklahoma) there was a winter storm today thats got me here asking this question well i am so scared of tornadoes (i know it has nothing to do with winter lol) that when it just starts raining even sprinkling i start watching the news and looking the weather up constantly and worrying that theres going to be a tornado even when the weather man is saying that its just rain and if a warning does come up i start having a bad anxiety attack every time and and it just seems to get worst i have even got to the point that i am worrying about the tornado seasons months before i have tried learning about the weather to see if that would help but it does not at all and i just cant take it anymore it affects me so bad my husband has even said that i get so freaked out that he worries i am going to hurt my self trying get to safety because all i can focus on is getting somewhere safe for me and my kids and i don’t want them to see me and get scared and be like this so my question is should i go to a doctor and get some kind of anxiety med and if so what kind of doctor do i need to go to? i just want the anxiety to stop sorry my question is so long but i need advice thanks.
i have already tried to conquer the fear it just does not work and and is getting worse the older i get its actually starting to interfere with my ability to function in bad weather.
and even having plan of action does not help the people that live next door to me have a storm celler and there is a community storm celler 4 blocks away but i still can’t stop the anxiety because i fear i won’t get where i am going safely are something bad while happen like a tree falling over and blocking the door and being trap are something.

Are you sure it’s a coincidence that soooo many Tornadoes and flooding of the Mississippi River and Cedar Rapid, Iowa being underwater from flooding? The midwest is where Obama’s from.
… so is it possible Bush and McCain planted rain-making crops and caused the bad weather to get the people in the midwest mad at Obama and help the Republicans take the White House?
Also Bush could have planted the Tornadoes so Obama wouldn’t be able to campaign in the strong and help McCain catch up.

I think that the heavier rain bands stay to the south of the eye, and the more thunderstorm-like cells stay to the north and east, but I don’t know if that’s right.

I think its amazing how we have pictures of like how Mars is all rocky. That’s probably stupid to you but I think its cool.
All the stuff like black holes, how they could rip you up and all the bright color stars and other stuff make and how the stars are like billions of years old by the time we get to see them.

The other night, I had this dream that I’ve never had before. I was standing outside of this building. I’m not sure what the building was, but it seemed similar to the structure of the grocery store that I work in. I’m hanging out at a picnic table with a friend of mine her younger sister (we’re in our late 20s, the sister is in her early 20s). The sky becomes dark, starts to rain, and a tornado starts to form off in the horizon. I go inside to take cover. While going inside to the tornado "safe place," I decide to get a drink of water. At the water fountain, an 11 year old girl that I work with (from another job I have in real life), comes up to me and says "Hey! You forgot your name tag." My name tag happens to be the name tag I’m suppose to wear in choir rehearsals, which my friend conducts (this is also in real life). I tell her thanks, and she skips away.
By this time, word about the tornado is spreading around. I happen to see a co-worker in her grocery store uniform, but she doesn’t have her shoes on. I ask her where they’re at, and she mentions something about leaving them in the highest part of a bell tower (picturing the bell tower at that’s my college Alma Mater). She then disappears. I continue to walk in the building, and happen to glance out a large window. My friend and her sister are still at the picnic bench, hanging out, chatting, etc. However, my friend now has her shoes off because her feet got soaked, so she’s standing in her bare feet. She is also totally soaked and wind swept from the rain and strong winds. However, for some strange reason, despite the approaching tornado, I suddenly decide to start heading outside again to tell my friend of a shoe sale that I saw at the store, as I had noticed they had shoes in her size. Right around then, I woke up.
I’m not sure what brought this up, except that I did buy some new shoes recently. Any takers on this?
Nope, I wasn’t late for work. It woke me up at 4 a.m. and I thought it was so weird that I decided to write it down. Funny enough, I also realized that I was thirsty, so I had to make myself get up to get a glass of water.

So I live in lower Wisconsin. Maybe some of you saw on the news that we’ve had tornado and storm weather for almost two days now. Yesterday my area was struck with a flash flood. My basement still has five inches of water in it fourteen hours after the rain stopped.
My siblings and I tried to put all the boxes and stuff up, or bring them into the garage. But we found out after the power was back on that what we set some stuff on started to float and fell over. My mom’s home movies are super wet and probably won’t work.
What can I do to fix them? Is there any way I was dry them off and make them play again?
Or do I need to find a professional for her?

Think about it. If Solar and Wind would work everywhere in the USA the Private Sector would Fund it as it would be a money maker. Hmmm No Private Sector wants to go near Solar and Wind and that is why our Government HAS to Fund it with our Tax Dollars.
Also, in the USA like Seattle which gets a tremendous amount of Rain which means no sun and no wind, how will it work there?
What about in other States where Hurricanes & Tornadoes are normal, Hail is normal, snow is normal etc……
How much is your Home Owners Insurance going to be to insure Wind Mills/Solar Panels once mother Nature destroys them?
WHERE are all the Cables/Wires going to be STORED FOR WIND MILLS not to mention all the Containers ?

Shouldn’t WE look into this further before ruining our Country with it and start using our own Natural Resources and Nuclear which is clean?

There is a tornado watch for my county(Wichita, TX) until midnight, however it is not supposed rain until 3am. Could a tornado happen even when there is no rain?
outside her castle. There she saw four kittens in front of her feet! She was so happy she ran inside to tell Laura, the queen about the kittens!
Laura grabbed a box and McKenzie but the kittens inside! “Mew” “mew” they shouted!
They were hungry. McKenzie the beautiful princess, grabbed some royal hot dogs to feed them by the time she was back all the kitties were asleep!
The queen said, “YUCK get those kittens out of my house they are wet and dirty!”
“FINE!” said McKenzie! She put the box out in the rain.
“LAURA, LAURA!” the princess squealed! The mother cat is here!
“Good they have one I thought the mother might have died good thing she’s back!”*** Laura said with a snobby voice!
“What is she doing?” Said McKenzie. Laura replied, “She’s feeding them.”
“Oh.”
McKenzie and Laura went up to there rooms and fell asleep. The next Morning the kittens were GONE! McKenzie was so sad she yelled “KITTIES! WHERE ARE YOU?”
All the Kittens ran up to her and were meowing like crazy they remembered her!
McKenzie wanted to scream she was so happy! However, she did not that would be “princess like!
The next morning The Kittens greeted her, the next day, and the next day.
Until one afternoon All four kittens where asleep on the princess porch but he heard a mew noise it was coming from the tornado shelter!
She ran to the shelter her Best friend Madison opened the shelter and saw a little kitten stuck inside! McKenzie ran to tell her mom! Laura quickly jumped into the shelter and grabbed the kitten. The kitten was saved!
The next morning McKenzie and her mother went outside to play with the kittens.OH NO the EVIL LANDLORD came and took the queens money for rent and said, “YUCK KITTENS! I will be right back to get a bucket I am going to eat them MUHAHAHAHA!”The EVIL LANDLORD ran to get a bucket but McKenzie was so mad she grabbed a kitten and took it inside! She whispered in the kittens ear “NO ONE EATS MY KITTEN!”
All the kittens where captured and eaten by the evil landlord but the one kitten was safe

Alright. I guess this really isn’t a question but it comes relatively close. I am from Wisconsin and currently there is some insane flooding going on brought on by nonstop rain. Also, I’ve counted about 5 tornado warnings in the past week. Dams are breaking, houses are ripped from their foundations and carried out by torrents of water, and my home has even received some flood damage.. Anyone else from Wisconsin? If so, are you in the middle of any of this?

Tornado Sky
I love summer storms when the sky goes from robin’s egg to
Grayish lentil in two minutes.
I love how the first raindrops fall and you can hear each one,
Individually, like a staccato drum, or dog nails on a wood floor.
I love how then they speed up and run together, and it sounds
Just like a rain is supposed to sound, and just like when
Ten runners jog together on the same track.
I love how you look outside and the trees and the grass
Are so so green.

Storms in the Midwest?

Have many of you been affected by these terrible storms? In Indiana as of last night over a third of the state was flooded and 23 counties had been approved for disaster relief. Thank goodness the county I live in has been spared the brunt of the flooding but we have lost many planted fields. About 30 miles from me two small communities were devastated by a F3 tornado last week and now have to contend with flooding from more rain we have received since then. An historic covered bridge built by the well known Kennedy brothers of Rushville Indiana was completely demolished in the tornado.
It was horrible watching homes in Wisconsin getting washed away by flooding. Missouri and southern Ill. has also been devastated.
We feel so very blessed that while we have had severe weather and more rain than usual at least the only damage we have are crops under water. So many people have lost so much more and my heart goes out to all of them.

I live in Michigan and its time to get out of this state.
I want to move somewhere that doesn’t get below 50-60 during the winter months and is about 75-90 during the summer months.
I’ve considered North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and a few others.
As important as annual sunshine and temperature is safety from natural disaster.
I don’t want to be anywhere where I’m in danger from hurricanes, tornadoes, and I prefer minimal storms/rain.
I’ve done a lot of research and I’m looking for in-depth analysis/opinions not just someone saying which state they live in.
aka. Tell me why your suggested state is better than other similar climate states?
How can I help my son cope with his fear of bad weather? Is this behavior hereditary?

My ten year old son just loves loves loves reading about different types of weather and watching the weather reports on tv, but he has a great fear of severe thunderstorms, and sometimes just rain alone.
He is afraid there will one day be a tornado that will kill us. We do not live in an area prone to tornadoes, but we sometimes get hail, which leads him to believe that one could happen at any time. He has gotten professional help, but nothing cures it.
What natural disasters do they have where you live and whichone are you most afraid of.?

I live in California where we have earthquakes sometimes but there has never been a big one in my lifetime. I am most scared of tornados because tome they look like swirling death that throw you and your houses miles. I am kind of afriad of hurricanes but i have been through one and it was scary and long, but it was ok after a while.
what are you talking about, we gt the best weather in the country. always between 40-85 degrees, apprpriate rain, no extreme heat or cold. What else can you ask for. All we have to do is have a little earthquake every once and a while.
I really want to visit Ireland in the future and i might possibley want to move there but i don’t know what their weather is like
do they have earthquakes?, Tornados?, floods?, Huricanes?,
