I live in Minnesota and hate winter. My family and I have been talking about moving to a place with a great climate and I fell in love with the climate and Downtown photos of Tulsa, OK. I was wondering if it is different economically there. Will it be as easy to find a job with satisfactory earnings as it is here? I notices that the cost of living is significantly cheaper. But how much is a gallon of gas, or milk?

I need information on Tulsa, or on other nice places in the US that have a nice climate (preferably not much snow, no hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes or volcanoes. And I am not into cockroaches that are larger than the tip of my finger.

We are also used to living in the outskirts of a Metropolitan area, and enjoy hevily populated areas.

I’m a fanatic of supercell thunderstorms and tornadoes, it’s like an thing that i am hooked onto. I’ve started having the hobbies of watching tornadoes back when i first got my 1st computer when i was 12 years old, we had dial up back then but i used to watch storm chaser’s tornado videos like all day. I’m 19 years old right and i have a laptop and i keep a bunch of photos and videos that i shot of thunderstorms when it rolled through my town and i would upload it to youtube for sharing, i have dsl now. But would any wife would let their husband have this kind of hobby ? Sometimes during a severe thunderstorm warning or tornado watch i would go outside and snap photos of the clouds before it rained. I don’t know if any wives ever accept this kind of hobby. Would an hobby of something like this will ever get into a way of a relationship ? I consider myself as one of these guys who dedicate their lives photographing storms.

I took my nephew to the park and we had a lovely time taking pictures. It was beautiful outside today. These pictures were taken at around 7:00 pm but just 12 hours earlier we were under a tornado warning and had some damage to our town, It was the complete opposite weather with clouds, rain, wind, and hail. Anyway I thought I would share that little bit of info. So what do you think of the portraits I would love any feedback. Thank You!

I took these with my brothers camera it was a canon and 7.2 mega pixels I can’t remember the exact module. My camera I normally use is a fujifilm finepix S2000HD so all of my other pics are taken with that one.

Okay.
A young boy named Sam is taking a hike in the woods to get away from his life, and he finds the dead body of a man who committed suicide. In one of his hands is a camera. Sam takes the camera and looks at it when he is home. There are over 6 billion pictures on it- all of people- including Sam. Sam starts receiving letters that say strange things like "On Friday, 280 will die in a Tornado. You will choose."
Sam starts seeing strange apparitions of a dead boy who tells him to destroy the camera. Sam soon realizes that on the camera is a picture of everybody in the world, and when he deletes the photos, the people will die, and that everyone’s fate is in his hands.

I have tried since last night to get my avatar changes to save. On my 360 page I went to photos and change avatar…made the changes, SAVED it…went back to my 360 page and the changes still are not showing. Please don’t tell me HOW to save it…I already know how to do that. I have done everything I can think of…even rebooting my computer. Does anyone know if Yahoo is having problems? Also my tornado avatar that usually shows up in Y!A is switching back and forth berween the tornado and a margarita pic that I also have on my 360 page. This is freakin’ insane!

I never believed in orbs myself until I caught some on camera. This picture was taken after a tornado just missed our house and took out our shed.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/17398687@N02/3167610195/

No it wasnt raining or snowing. And this was years ago and I still have this camera, and it’s never taken photos of orbs since that day so how could it be dust particles if it takes fine pictures now? I’m not saying I think these are ghosts for sure, but I’m not for sure what they could be. If anyone has a scientific explanation for these, please share.
also I have more pictures from this day of these orbs and they are in different places in the picture so it can’t be something stuck on the lens.
oh and tb, the camera I used for these pics was a point and shoot digital, no settings available to change aperture.

Their was a tornado locally, so I decided to investigate it and shoot photos of it. However, the police had the public roads leading into the town closed. I was unable to go to where I wanted to get the photos I needed. They let other vehicles and media through. But I was unable to. I was however allowed to park and walk. While there was debris, the roads were drivable. And as I mentioned they allowed some people to drive through but not others. I even came through one road one way, but for some odd reason, they would not let me go back through. I had to find an alternative route home.
Can they prevent people from going through towns that are disaster area’s like this? Don’t photojournalists have certain rights? Can they allow some media outlets but not others? And how do you go about getting access as other journalists, media, construction workers, or insurance agents have? It seems like some photographers are allowed full access but others aren’t.
And how would one acquire a press pass? When I spoke with a photographer with one of the local papers in the past about getting a position with the paper or as an independent photographer for them, I would need to have a portfolio first. Well it’s hard to start one when your unable to gain access to these types of situations. I thought press passes were simply documentation from the paper or media company you are working for to state your with them, nothing being of an official government type of credentials. I didn’t think they were needed for these types of events.
I asked a question, but apparently people would rather insult and discourage others while not even trying to better the situation for other photographers.
Hokielover01, I’m sorry, but where do you have the right to tell others what they are qualified for or not especially when you do now know anything about the person. I guess it must be a ego issue on your part, or maybe you are just scared someone could do a better job then you can do?
First of all, just because you have a press pass for some newspaper does not mean you know anymore then someone else. I do realize the risks. I think I am more then competent to understand the dangers of power lines and other risks. And more likely more then you.
First of all, I am a professional photographer. God forbid If I wanted to supplement my income by doing some freelance photojournalist work. I would like to know how I would get in the way of some idiot like you? I think I have a little more processional courtesy then that, but I guess you couldn’t realize that because I asked a question.
It’s people like you that actually ruin photographers good names. Its also people like you that think because you have a camera and can snap pictures of a disaster you think you’re a real photographer. Now I truly understand why photographers say photojournalists have no real photography skills. Because obviously with your quick to putdown attacks, you are a pretty defensive because your obviously very scared.

Some things I want to paint, I just can’t get my own images or go on site to paint. Such as penguins in Antarctica or pictures of nebulae from the Hubble Space Telescope, or tornados. There are lots of nice more ordinary photos others have taken that I want to paint from too, and HAVE been doing to learn painting. Sources such as calenders and online photos. But if were to sell my work, would it be OK if I had used a copyrighted photo as a source? My painting is a naturalistic style, but definitely not so detailed that it is a copy (like some portraits are, for example). People painting Elvis pictures would run up against this, I would think.

Thanks to anyone who knows!!

I had a dream that my dad was driving a car. We were in the country side and then it got dark (mainly red) then there was a tornado. So my dad took photos of it. It started to come near us so we ran! We ran through an ally-way when we saw a old house, we ran in then I looked at a photo it was an old photo of an old man! we ran up the stairs (still a red colour) there was about 50 steps!

I would love to know what it means

Just to let you know that I have been voted by my friends to have the most weirdest dreams ever! I have even written my most weirdest dreams (23 dreams in the last year) inside a powerpoint presentation!

disaster like a flood or tornado? A bunch of my friends and I were discussing high school and our year books and one friend said everything from her childhood was lost in a house fire. I felt bad for her. All her photos and things that meant so much to her. She is the second person I’ve met whose home were destroyed.

How about close calls too?

What Shall I Do
by Elaine P

What shall I do
with all this stuff,
a lifetime of gathering
this and that
how much may I take
on such a long journey?

Dozens of carved figures
hundreds of books
thousand of photos
how can they fit
in one small dome
on a distant planet?

I will pretend a tornado
has destroyed all I own
including my checkbook
and my unpaid bills
I will take two books
the complete works of Shakespeare
and Oh What a Tangled Web.

I have a powerpoint to do about severe weather. I am trying to get these videos from YouTube of footage of hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc and my teacher wants proof that it can be used. She wants us to highlight and print off the Terms of Use page and show were we have the right to use these videos, clipart, photos, etc. Are all YouTube photos free to use? Can you show me where it says this? How can I save and upload them to my powerpoint? Thanks to everyone who helps OUT!

I’m almost 17 and I really love storms and I hope to be a storm chaser when I get older. But is there anything wrong with chasing them now? I know all about tornado safety–I’ve lived smack dab in the middle of tornado alley my entire life and have studied storms and tornadoes quite intensly.

Would it be stupid (as far as safety goes) to chase storms at my age? I’m also very into photography which would be one of the main reasons I would go chasing (to get photos). What do you think?

I mean they gave a 2% chance of a storm developing and we ended up having 3 one travaling over 25 miles.

What tornado ranking on the EF scale, at minimum, would be able to damage the walls of a brick house? I think I have seen photos of EF2s causing slight damage, though I am not certain.

I mean just look at the photos on the news of the aftermath. Usually the whole house is leveled.
