I am 17 and I need to figure out what I want to do for the rest of my life, my career. I wanted to be an Architect, but now I’m second guessing it. I am taking it as an elective at my high school, and its a lot of fun, but I know once i get to college, theres so much more to it than just making up floor plans.
Before Architecture, I wanted to become a Meteorologist. I kinda still do. I have an interest in weather and Natural Disasters(like tornadoes and earthquakes). My mom keeps telling me she can’t picture me in either career. I’m not sure if I can either all so much now I think about it.
So, What career is for me? I like drawing, designing, deciding where things go, music, weather, sports, helping others, nature, the environment, etc. I don’t like fashion and history.
I know for one, that I don’t want to become a nurse or doctor or dentist or vet or related fields. I am like, terrified of needles and stuff like that.
Thankyou for your responses :)

I noticed on the News today it said that the Euphrates River was 90% dried up and archealogical sites previously undiscovered before have been discovered there from the receding waters.
I know a prophecy said that the Euphrates River will dry up to make way for a big War, and I found this astounding? That would mean the Antichrist is already making his moves and that the 1 world government is going to happen soon…. I know its not the end yet, but God is showing us that its looming… but how near is it?

I know its going to happen soon bc the Last generation started when Israel became a nation… in 1948, 61 years ago and the generation is almost over… other happened prophecies include:
1. Jews returning to Israel (now run by Jews)
2. The Hebrew Language being revived
3. Increased Travel and Knowledge (Human Knowledge currently doubles every 5 years, we can now fly and travel faster than sound)
4. The Red Heifer being born in Israel, to allow ritual (1st red heifer, rare cow, to be born in Israel in 2000 years was in 1997 another in 2002… freakishly both declared to partake in the ritual!)
5. Increased natural disasters and wars (The 20th century reinvented what "War" meant, and Earth is currently unbalanced, 2004 recorded an earthquake breaking a record for longest shaking killing 300,000, 2005 set the record for hurricane frequency and intensity, the list goes on…)
6. Worldwide communication
7. Increased drugs, wickedness, sexual immorality, gayness, children without natural affection, people lovers of themselves and money
8. The 3rd Temple on the Jerusalem mount rebuilt (supplies have already been bought, now just permission is needed, this is where the ritual with the Red Heifer takes place)

Tell me how quick you think things are going to happen? Where do you think we will be on the prophecy line in… 5 to 10 years?
Well if you ask me I think that 2012 has some significance… I DO NOT believe the world will end on Dec 21, 2012 at 11:11 thats blasphemy, but since its still in the End Times generation, it definately has some substance to it… hopefully the beginning of the Great Tribulation ;)

Of all natural disasters that could possibly occur, which would you be most frightened to be in the heart of, and why?

Would knowing that you’re in the heart of a 9.0 earthquake terrify you? Would being with 5 miles of a major errupting volcano horrify you? How about living on the ocean side during an enormous tsunami? Witnessing an F5 Tornado in the middle of a city? Living near a major mountain during an avalanche? How about living in the heart of a flood, and as you go out your door, the water from the flood rushes inside your house?

I was just wondering, since he has said that Hurricane Katrina and yesterday’s earthquake were God’s punishments for the sins of New Orleans and Haiti. Does he think that Kansas deserves to be hit by tornadoes time and again, or does he just cherry pick natural disasters to blame on the victims?

Doesn’t that state burn down every year? They should come to expect this. Just like people in the South East part of the US should expect hurricanes and those in the Midwest should expect tornados. It would be nice if society built structures and communities in such a way that natural disasters were not so much of a problem.
The house would not have to be fire proof. There are other methods to go about protecting your home. For example, if the forestes were gridded so that the fire would be stuck in "blocks" and not be able to spread continuously.

You could build a fireproof house fairly simeple and relatively cheap. Even if the house costs twice as much, it would still be cheaper than building it multiple times after it burns down. Use stone, brick, concrete, etc. and have "shutters" that are made of metal to keep windows from being subject to the heat. You could also build the home underground and not even worry about the fire. I am sure you would still want to leave any area there is a fire, since it will eat all the oxygen though.

Hurrican proof homes already exist. Take a look at Deltec homes. They are quite interesting.

I know during hurricane katrina the national guard was sent in to distribute supplies to people, helping the police in restoring order, and knocking door by door to evacuate people, all while carrying a machine gun on their backs. Im in highshool and would like to join the gaurd and I would like a job like that. What kind of job in the Guard lets you work with people, distribute needed supplies, enforce the law, help in natural disasters or terrorist attacks? Answers are appreciated

Just today there was an tornado that touched down in Oklahoma. I don’t know of any details as of yet. Now they’re talking about where I live being under a tornado watch.

Were you afraid? Did you pray to God during those circumstances?

I will provide some other facts later.
Sorry, I didn’t categorize this information correctly.
Some of you guys are alot braver than me. In 1979 while I was at work it was reported 13 funnel clouds was all around us at Target & we had to go in the back away from all the windows, shopping carts were flying like birds in the parking lot. Thank goodness not one tornado touched down. In 1970 I was in hurricane Celia (Texas) I was very small but I remember like it was yesterday.Scary!
It’s sad that we are going through these times we’re living in. We are either going to make it or break it.
We have to learn how to rely on Jehovah now. We can’t wait until it’s too late. We have our dear loved ones to think about. Plus, Jehovah really does love you. He cares what happens to you. He’s not bringing these natural disasters on you.

Soon hurtful memories and experiences will be part of the past. Remember, how Jesus calmed the storms when he was on earth? That’s what he’s going to do in the future as King of God’s Kingdom. Then we will never be afraid.
Rev.21:4 says "…the former things has passed away".
Also, Isaiah 65:17 states these things will never be brought to mind again. Or come up into the heart. =)

A major flood
Catagory 5 hurricane.
F5 tornado.
Super volcanic erruption.

I’m leaving out earthquake since it is an occurence there. I want to add other natural disasters and see what kind of devastation they will produce there.

I’m 15, almost 16, and the fact that I will soon have to choose A levels that I would study in college, keeps reminding me that this decision may affect my future in the work world. So I’ve been researching different professions in areas that I like.

A few days ago, I remembered my old interest. Geography. Natural disasters. For e.g. tornadoes, volcanoe eruptions and similar. I want to visit Iceland. Maybe even live there. My old dream is to swim in a boat in the Amazon river… Well, you get the picture.

So, I would like some advice, as to what professions might involve either natural disasters, or geography overall. If it’s possible, I would also like to combine it with art. Something to do with environmental art for e.g.

I don’t know, I’m really lost here. Maybe someone does something like that and could share their experience..?

Oh, and what qualification or what subjects overall I would need to have/study for those professions?

Thankyou so much.

I am talking about in the distant future if we have the ability.

Would be wonderful if we have the power to get rid of natural disasters? In other words, to not be in the mercy of nature’s disasters.

hi, im planning to move to either north or south carolina in a few years (i cant decide which state right now, theyre both beautiful and full of history). anyways, when im about to move to a place, 1 of the things i look at is what natural disasters can happen there, like in california, earthquakes, in some of the midwest, tornadoes, etc. my question is do the carolinas have hurricanes, particularly charlotte or charleston? to my understanding from hurricanes on the news, it doesnt seem hurricanes have hit a state north of florida, but who knows, i could be wrong. i know that area doesnt have earthquakes, it doesnt have snow a lot, but theres the heat/humidity to deal with, but do they have hurricanes? do they also have tornadoes?

The midwest can have tornadoes, the Gulf of Mexico area can have hurricanes, California can have earthquakes, etc… Either in the US or in the World, where are there no natural disasters? This can include extreme temperatures that causes deaths as well… Does such a place exist where nobody dies due to the weather? I live in Arizona and it’s pretty disaster-free, but we can have extreme heat and flash floods and people can die in small numbers due to those.

Christians often blame natural disasters on gays and other behavior which is considered sinful so i was wondering if this Tornado was caused by God demonstrating his almighty hate toward gays?

Source: Yahoo news
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/severe_weather
4 dead, 48 injured as tornado hits Boy Scout camp

BLENCOE, Iowa – Frightened Boy Scouts huddled in a shelter as a tornado tore through their western Iowa campground, killing four people and injuring 48 others who had little to no warning of the approaching twister.

In Iowa, rescue workers cut their way through downed branches and dug through debris amid rain and lightning Wednesday night to reach the camp where the 93 boys, ages 13 to 18, and 25 staff members were attending a weeklong leadership training camp.

Side note- Two things I hate most are children and pets in harms way.

but what do I know, i’m not God. =/

Hurricane Dean reached a catagory 5 Hurricane, but it passed over Mexico & reduced in power to a level 1 – I can count to 6 – do you think Nature knows that 5 is the maximum intensity a Hurricane can get to?

What of Earthquake and Tornado scales etc.,?

Here in England insurance companies are moaning to the government about the covenant between them and government about the distribution of responsibility from natural disasters now that they’re getting their financial ‘a r s e s’ kicked by English weather that apparently didn’t seem to ‘realise’ about these scales and did its own thing!

We’re about to understand the true meaning of our obsession with MINIMALISM don’t you think?

I just wish Klaatu & Gort would really land on this planet and define our boundries & help us understand the following eloquently described concept from a future film aimed at a vastly different generation and culture – but with very much the same message:-

Federal Disaster relief? We all get to pay the taxes that go into that pot. We all get to have our insurance go up because they like to build homes and businesses in the path of where Hurricanes land. But heaven forbid a midwestern state get any of that money. I guess our floods and tornadoes just don’t measure up to the repeated stupidity of the hurricane prone states.
I don’t live on a flood plain, though others do. I don’t see why all natural disasters aren’t treated equally.

http://www.wxow.com/News/index.php?ID=12400
Read the article. Wisconsin had damage about the same time as Rita and Katrina hit, but we didn’t get any aid. Stop feeding me that line of BS.

America is now experiencing the consequences of Middle East policies, which have been opposed to God’s Word and to the preservation of His covenant land. Ever since the Madrid Conference of October 1991, the United States participation in Israel’s destiny has been flawed when put in context of Holy Scripture. This now includes hurricane "Katrina"

What do these major-record setting events have in common?

· Nine of the ten costliest insurance events in U.S. history

· Seven of the eight costliest hurricanes in U.S. history

· Three of the four largest tornado outbreaks in U.S. history

· Nine of the top ten natural disasters in U.S. history ranked by FEMA relief costs

· The two largest terrorism events in U.S. history

All of these major catastrophes transpired on the very same day or within 24-hours of U.S. presidents Bush, Clinton and Bush applying pressure on Israel to trade her land for promises of “peace and security,” sponsoring major “land for peace”.

I need to know if there in any city in California that is NOT prone to natural disaster. (earthquakes, mudslides, tornado’s, hurricanes) I want to go to a fashion college in California. I heard all of California is hot but not humid. That it never snows. That’s how i like it. I live in New York but i would like college in California. New York is one place that is prone to natural disasters like i said. So i am used to that kind of Place. If there is no such place in California, please suggest some fashion colleges near Syracuse, New York. Thank you!

And now that hes decided its the Govts job to protect people from the weather that is typical to thier regions how long til he extends that protection to Florida. And while hes at it could he come here to Tornado Alley and promise to protect us from an F5 tornado. And then I would be really impressed if he could go to California and promise to protect them from a 9.9 Earthquake. And if he could do something about the ice storms in the midwest while hes not busy Id love that. Those crops are almost as important as New Orleans casinos and strip clubs. Is he making these promises to divert attention from the one thing he will never work to protect us from? Yes Im talking about terrorism. More people died on 911 than all US natural disasters. But thats no reason to work to make us safer from that real threat. I mean we all know its way more popular to stand around a bunch of flooded houses making false promises to those desparate people. Its called Band Wagoning Obama, and its insulting.
"If the government which has our money doesn’t do this, who will? Don’t be ridiculous!"
Perfect answer commielib. Except you failed to identify the cost to improving these levves to withstand a category five storm and whether or not that cost is justified when compared to the needs of some much of the countries infrastructure. Or maybe we should spend all our money on New Orleans Levees and then we can all just move in there and be safe?

Yeah, yeah….I know. The city is basically still destroyed and they have not made any significant advancements in rebuilding it.

But many hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and other natural disasters have hit our homeland and within the year we heard nothing more about it.

Did the people affected by Hurricane Andrew years ago receive debit cards from FEMA? What about the flood victims in the midwest? Why isn’t their wall-to-wall coverage of their plight like it was for Hurricane Katrina?

And two more questions: People wonder why New Orleans is taking so long to be rebuilt?

a. This city is BELOW sea level. It fills up like a bowl when it is flooded. What insurance company wants to insure that?

b. The crime in that city is ridiculous. Who wants to move back to a place murder is high and the police force is crippled?
weapon sidewalk– you should talk….you are one of the dumbest people on here.
