If there is a loving God, why does he permit – much less create – earthquakes, droughts, floods, tornadoes, and other natural disasters which kill thousands of innocent men, women, and children every year?

My mom wants to move to Tennessee. she has some teacher friends who retired there that really enjoy it, and a few others that say they are thinking of moving there.
she likes that there are no property taxes, cost of living is lower, and they can get a really nice house for less than what we can get one elsewhere.
I was looking around and a few places seem nice… According to the Neighborhood Scout website that talks about crime in an area… Erin is a safe area with lower crime than where we live now (and where we live now there is almost none.) as is Dover (in middle Tennessee near the Kentucky border)
My main concern though, is natural disasters. Where we live now we don’t get Tornadoes or major floods, or hurricanes or earthquakes.
I know Tennessee is supposedly big for Tornadoes and flooding, and I hear there is a fault line that can cause almost as big of a quake as they’re expecting in California one day. So I don’t know how safe it would be to move there.
Is there a way to find out how many tornadoes, quakes and other natural disasters effect the area a year (especially around Dover/Erin and other parts of the northern half of Tennessee)?
Cause I really am anxious about the idea of moving there if there is a lot of danger from Tornadoes or quakes and such. I have a phobia of tornadoes and quakes especially.

What does the american government do about the destroyed houses due to the tornadoes. Do the government pay for new houses? Or are the americans supposed to pay a tax to the government for natural disasters? Sorry, I’m not american so I cannot really understand how americans get by while they have their houses destroyed. How long does it take to start living normally again?

Lies, Excuses and many misinformation:
1) "global warming can mean colder, it can mean drier, it can mean wetter."-Al Gore. Basic feedback loops refute that and the fallacy in this sentence.
2) "Global Dimming". Its basically more lies claiming that it slowed down evaporation. It says it masks the effect and slows of Global Warming. Are you telling me you have to invent a lie to cover a lie, unbelievable. It is said to be caused by aerosols and airplane contrails.
3) In the ‘supposed’ graphs of Climate Change scientists the CO2 concentration and temperature rise is linear since the 1850s. Yet we increase our emissions exponentially, again, no correlation between humans.
4) It lead to some Kooks printing a report that it will cause WW III. I really have no comment as it will never happen when there is nukes.
5) Many reports that our increase in tornadoes and hurricanes and increased natural disaster. Again they have been debunked as an increase in overall temperature will keep temperature difference the same as temperature difference is the main contributor to natural disasters.
6) Lets not forget false reports from the IPCC, fake chart scandals and interception of emails showing that its a scam.
7) 97% of 2000 people is not a worldwide consensus.
Remember 1970s global cooling scare.
9) The icecaps have thickened in some areas and the beach in some areas retracted opposing that it will ‘flood the coastline’.
10) Our Emissions are much smaller than the natural cycle and are off set by negative feedback loops.
11) ‘The consensus’ claims also we emit more in 50 years than a super volcano for thousands of years.( It took several feedback loops for the temperature to reach +10 over global average).
12) They also fail to acknowledge that glaciers were always in constant retreat.
13) It took volcanoes that emitted dust and ash to slow down cooling.
14) Sites to counter global skepticism has used weak arguments by 13 year olds, or has used the global dimming lie too. The IPCC also doesn’t accept GW skeptics.
15) There is much more greenhouse gases on Mars by mass and concentration than the Earth. If the alarmists are correct then there should be no dry ice on the planet however that’s not the case.
16) Alarmist also dismiss skeptics as bought by the oil companies buyouts.
17) The winters have been getting colder over the world, however they leave it out.

People always ask what I want to be when I grow up, but I never know the answer. Even as a child, I remember not having a dream job. I just have NO idea what I want to be. In addition, I am sooo indecisive. I do, however, know my strong points in life…well at the moment. I’m in 10th grade and think I should start considering my future. I want to take advantage of electives at my high school so that I am prepared for college. And I can’t just take every elective there is, so I really do need to figure out what careers are strong possibilities for me. How do I do this? There are several things that I enjoy and have talent in, but none are really a career desire? Or maybe there are just soooo many careers that I just have no idea where to begin. I also want to work towards a well paying job.
Some info about me:
-I play violin, but it’s a hobby. I don’t want to do this for the rest of my life. Just a side thing.
-I love to run, but I definitely just want to do it in spare time. Just for fun.
-I am a fairly good writer with good grammar, and I excel in English class. However, I don’t see myself as an author who writes all day long…
-I am always respectful to people. I never blow up. I am known for my calmness.
-I am learning to speak French. I will be in French 3 this year. I LOVE to travel. But that’s not a career haha.
-I am great at math. It’s not always fun, but I am 2 levels above average. I’ll be taking pre-calc/trig as a 10th grader. So, yeah, in a way, I like math. Science is okay, not my favorite, but it’s fine.
-I am pretty interested in natural disasters. Weird, I know. But I think tsunamis, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc are interesting. I mean, I know they’re horrible and everything. But for some reason, I think they are….well yeah, interesting.
-I am also interested in events/happenings. Whenever I see police with sirens, I always wonder what’s going on.
-I am not a good public speaker at all. Hate speeches, monologues, presentations, performing, all that stuff….
-Always have been a straight A student for every single class. I finish my work with effort and detail no matter how little sleep I get.
Do I try researching all the careers and stuff? It seems like an endless search. How do people pick majors in college anyway? Any help, advice, suggestions on websites or anything would be awesome. Haha. Thanks (:

I am thinking about going to college in Washington, but I’m not sure how the weather is….i know it rains… a lot, but I don’t mind the rain. I’m more concerned with snow (EW!), natural disasters (earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.) A friend told me that they don’t get hurricanes out there because the water in the pacific is too warm…is this true? Any info about weather in Washington state is appreciated

Why not educate the children and teach them safety and have plans in place for disasters? I hate seeing kids scared because of wind or rain. If parents taught them to deal with natural disasters and stayed calm it would help the children much better. I had a tornado go over my home and have been in one so I know what it is like. We saw the destruction afterwards but were safe and calm…most around us just ran around like chickens with their heads cut off.
What are your thoughts?

Over the last few decades emergency services, infrastructure building, all of the things we need to deal with emergencies, have been cut.
Could, say, major droughts in the areas that feed California agriculture, dry aqueducts, or a major hit of hurricane damage around the Gulf, or an unusually active tornado pattern in the Midwest, or forest fires, or… eliminate the U.S. as a world power?
Could the U.S., as a national state, survive, say, five New Orleans-type disasters?
Pulling military resources back from the enforcement of the Empire abroad would be necessary. "Superpower weakens" signals would not exactly help the currency internationally — the dollar might very well crash.
With little non-military industrial production remaining for years now, and then with lessened military power and collapsed financial influence, could the U.S. survive in its current form of organization?
My point is that the U.S. has, actually, been extremely lucky regarding natural disasters over the last century. If the weather patterns that destroyed Soviet agriculture had happened over, say, Iowa and Nebraska, the entire history of both WW2 and the Cold War would have changed, and, most likely, the identity of the "sole surviving superpower."
The territories controlled directly by Washington have been spared, by the luck of the draw, from much of the worst of natural disaster damage over the last hundred years.
As any gambler knows, every run of luck ends SOMETIME.
So I ask, if more normal flood patterns, numbers of quakes, droughts, hurricanes, etc. resume — can the U.S. survive?
Obviously this question is not asking anyone to "predict" a natural disaster – LOL. I’m asking about what natural disasters are common to specific regions of Mallorca. I’ve been googling Mallorca, but I haven’t found what I’m looking for. Since it is an island, I was wondering if it was at risk for hurricanes or tsunamis around the coast. (Hopefully not – I’m thinking about moving there.) Does anyone know? And if there is a risk of a disaster, what would be the safest region to live on the island? The mountains, perhaps? If the mtns are safer, which mountain range would you recommend? I realize a natural disaster can strike anywhere, but some areas are obviously more prone than others. Google hasn’t helped, so maybe someone who knows the Mallorca area can. . .
For example, Florida, USA is quite prone to hurricanes."Tornado Valley" is the nickname for the midwestern states more prone to tornados: Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota – although tornadoes do occur in other States with more fatalities.The top 3 States with most earthquakes are (no surprise) Alaska, California, Hawaii. Tsunamis tend to occur where earth AND lake-quakes are possible, (This is usually near a coastline.)
Since I live here, I am familiar with the natural disasters common in certain regions of the USA, but I’m not as familiar with Mallorca. That is why I’ve posted this question for someone who is knowledgeable about the weather patterns in the various regions of Mallorca.

This year has picked up with the viral youtube videos of Tornadoes, earthquakes, natural disasters amongst other things people decide to post on twitter/youtube.
Wouldn’t their be a higher probability of people posting ghost sightings on their camera phones, more than ever before? Why hasn’t this happened?

I see a lot of religious zealots posting things about the increase in natural disasters. They fail to state the fact that the statistic isn’t "increase in natural disasters" but "increase in REPORTS of natural disasters."
So please, remember that advancements in technology help us monitor and report weather and natural disasters quicker and more efficiently than several years ago. The only reason you hear a lot about these things now is because the media found out that scaring the bejeezus out of us makes money for them. >_<
