I want to learn about harsh weather, such as storms that can put down tornadoes. I can’t find any where online that I can learn about them for free. I have no money for college and can’t find any books around my area. Can yall help me out pleae? I really want to storm chase if possible one day…but I wont unless I know what I’m chasing! Best answer gets 5 stars!

Alright, here goes..
My best friend and I have been fwb on and off for nearly a decade now, never sleeping together when we’re in a relationship but have maintained a very close friendship. We concieved a child together last June who is now just turning 3 months old. We both have 2 children from previous relationships that are around the same age, and I am now back with the father of my other 2. My husband to be treats our son as if he’s his own(he knows otherwise) and is probably the best father in the world to all 3 of the kids. I still speak to my friend, and I believe he wants to be a part of our sons life but feels awkward about the situation. He hasn’t seen our son since we had a dna test done 2 1/2 months ago, but stays in contact with me. I don’t want him to wait until it’s too late for our son to know him as his Dad if that’s what he wants to be to him. I send him pictures via text and very rarely get a response, I know he feels guilty, I know he’s confused, and I know he’s stressed out right now. (We live in a city that just got wiped out by a tornado, he lost his job and quite a bit of self esteem, and is also expecting his first grandchild) I’ve already told him I don’t want money from him for child support(I make enough money to take care of the kids), that what’s important to me is that he have a role in our childs life, emotional support is far more important to me then money. To the question now that you have the back story..
I bought him a card for fathers day. I buy him cards for holidays most of the time, but this one is obviously quite a bit different as we have a child together now. I want to write something in it that will make him really sit down and think about what it means to be a father, and what it means to our son. I haven’t been able to find a quote that does it for me yet. Any ideas?

My girlfriends parents kinda frown upon my living standards. I just kinda blow it off, It’s just amazing how many ignorant people are out there. I can’t hardly stand to speak to these stuck up a**holes anymore.

It’s not like my place is a dump, It’s on 2 acres in the mountains, a nice clean 16 x 80, I own the land and a 2 car garage. It has 6 inch walls a singled roof and looks great, I don’t see the problem here.
They are always telling me I need to think about buying a nice house in the city. I think that is absurd. I just paid off my place, and it’s more than nice enough for us.

Why is everyone so focused on their image? They live in 700,000 dollar house with 4000sqft, and it’s just the two of them. And they make less money than I do, they just paid for it through selling their last house, which they lived in for 35 years.

We never get bad storms/tornado’s here.. just blizzards.

Here is the situation: My mother lives in Florida and, until recently, my younger sister and her two children lived there too. My mother would have the children 5 days a week, and during the evenings and overnight on weekend. (so yeah, basically all the time) My sister was never really concerned about it because she was able to go out, work (sometimes) and try to keep an eye on her "husband". Well, her "husband" up and left for Joplin, Missouri (yep, same place on TV now) and my sister became lonely and thought that if she brought the kids to Missouri, the "husband" would have no choice but to come back to her. So, the Saturday before that eadly tornado went through Joplin, she tells my mother she will watch the children. Of course, she actually just takes off with the kids and steals one of my mother’s cars in the process. (Let’s also add into the note that my mother was IN THE PROCESS of trying to get custody of both children!) My mother was scared that if she reported the car stolen, the children would be put into the system and she would never get custody of them. Anyway, my sister goes to Joplin,Missour and we all know what happened next. Now she is trying to ask my mother for money and such, using the sob storey that "the baby doesn’t have this" or "the baby doesn’t have that" (one child is a 6 year old boy, the other is a 7 month old girl) but she has money to try and convince the children’s father to come over. (She basically pays him to come and see them). My mother has offered to have the children flown back but my sister wants none of it because she "knows that eventually the father will come around." The children are sleeping in a car every now and then because the father’s side of the family wants nothing to do with any one of them and my sister has only 3 sets of clothing for them. She says she would rather make this sacrifice than try to live without this man. She has left the children at shelters with people because she "was checking into work" at late hours (we are talking midnight and on) and sees nothing wrong with the children just being shuffled around. She wants my mother to take pictures of things in Florida and send it to her so she can claim that she lost those items in the tornado, ie a television, a different car, expensive stuff you know). She is impossible to track because of the hopping she does from shelter to shelter, but we do know she is still in Joplin. The CPS in Missouri is very busy now, understandably, but there has to be something that can be done. I am unfamiliar with Florida law (I work in law enforcement in Texas) and have no clue of what else to do. We have tried contacting CPS in Missouri, but they are very busy; the social worker in Florida says there is very little they can do right now. There must be something to expose the fraud she is trying to pull and the way she is neglecting these children. Any SERIOUS advice would be appreciated.
It should be noted that the children WERE being neglected before. . . while in Florida. Their mother would rather party and go out than care for her children. She merely visited them at my mother’s house when she was awake. YES, a disaster zone is an excuse but she is being given an option to make it better for her children and she refuses because she only wants to chase a man around!

I’m a huge animal lover and I think oftentimes people forget about the displaced pets in disasters. I certainly am concerned about the well-being of the people but also worry about the animals who have been torn from their owners. Is there anything else I can do besides donate money? I live in IL so I’m not super far from MO.

Today the Joplin, MO tornado took my WHOLE HOUSE! Nothing is left to fix. Everything has to start from the ground up. I honestly don’t want to rebuild. I only have 27,000 left on the house. Can I pay it off and keep the left over? Will they give me just as much as if I want to rebuild? Do you have any advice on how to handle the insurance to get the most money out of this event? Also I lost everything in the house including my paperwork listing all my personal property so I have to come up that list by memory. I need help there too!

The recent tragedies that hit the southern states (tornadoes and Mississippi River floods) caused massive damages to homes and businesses. In times like these, we learn that only the federal government has the power and the money to alleviate the suffering of the citizens. Will the Republicans finally stop insulting "big government" and learn to appreciate that it has more of an active role than just defense? I hear Gov. Perry is pissed.
I am opposed to the way the Federal government takes money from the citizens of a state and then offers that money back to states as an enticement to do their bidding. I am, however, in favor of a common disaster fund under the control of the central government for use in disasters in any state that has one.

My house was struck by a tornado and heavily damaged. My son recommended a contractor which I hired based upon his opinion. I am an 81 year old woman whose husband has recently passed. I do not know anything about contractors or insurance claims. And, keep in mind that that I no longer have a mortgage. My damages were in excess of 40k. This is a legitimate construction company.

First, the contractor insisted that the insurance company would not work with me directly and that I cannot hire my own contractors…that I must hire one contractor to do all the work, including hiring subcontractors. He stated that it would be fraud for the insurance company to give me a check for a certain amount and for me to pay a cheaper contractor to do the work and for me to keep any portion of the money. He said that every cent had to go to the contractor.

I did sign a contract because he told me that he had a special rapport with the adjuster and that he would be able to get more of the house repaired than another contractor would. He said that he would talk the adjuster into replacing my entire roof and not just half of it.

The contractor gave me an initial estimate, said that he would work directly with the insurance company and I would not be involved. As the work was within two days being completed, I received a check from the insurance company. That very day, the contractor came by and insisted that I sign the entire check over to him. It was significantly more than his estimate. I asked for a final billing or invoice and said I would pay him the amount he billed me. he then became very insistant that I just sign over the check to him and that if I didn’t he would not be able to complete his payroll the following day. As I felt quite intimidated, I did sign over the check. Well, as soon as I did I sure did get an earful!! This young man unleashed a barrage of terrible words on me and I had to threaten to call the police before he would leave my home. I asked for the check back and he refused.

My son later looked over the statement that came with the insurance check and see that the insurance company allowed so much for each item that was replaced. They allowed much more than the items I received and were installed by the contractor. As an example, the insurance company allowed 0 for a front porch railing. I did not get one at all. They allowed 0 to replace a light post. The light post I received is a model I saw at the store for , same brand and all. What happened to this extra money? Should the contractor have been allowed to keep it? I was not able to keep one cent. It appears that the contracting company received 10% for overhead, 10% for profit and a great deal in overages for these items.

This does not seem right to me and I don’t know what to do. To make matters worse, the interior painting on the walls that were rebuilt was not included in the contractors work and now I have to pay for this myself. Any help is appreciated.

Me and my husband lost our trailor back on February 10th, 2009. We didn’t have insurance because no one would help because it was an older trailor. But when that tornado blasted our home that day we had FEMA and SBA help us out. Now our new home has been build but the new people that have built our home wants more money too finishish it and we don’t have that money because we have allready paid them from what SBA gave us. Problem is we are going into July 2010 and she won’t finish it! Any ideal at all. We have been homeless all this time since last year. Both of us are in seperate home now. My husband has done a lot of work on that home things they didn’t even do in it themselves. Question is if you have any advise at all please give me any ideals at PLEASE. Thanks so very much!!!

With all the money they are in debt and growing deeper, why do they have things like Medicare, house insurance, health care of all forms, social security, disability etc. I say it should be every man for themselves, if you can’t pay to go to a doctor or rebuild your house when it a tornado hits it, tough luck.
If you lose a leg with a ban-saw and can’t work, TOUGH LUCK. Why do we need all this wasteful spending. Why can’t we just have a necessities like: police, hospitals, schools and firemen etc.? And you take care of everything else yourself and not rely on the government?

This seems to be my last resort. My boyfriend gets upset when I talk about our problems to my mom or friends so even when he’s not around I wont talk to anyone out of guilt. So please, anyone who has had a similar experience or maybe just has some advice, I would really appreciate it.

So at first, I fell in L.O.V.E with this amazing guy who was motivated and independent and incredibly sexy. After a few months into the relationship he began ignoring me kinda, as in no "i love yous" or cuddling. Then days after a his return from a work trip, we planned a night out for my birthday with my college buddies. When it was time to leave, he turned into a monster and was screaming and pushing me around and actually left the print of my back in the wall after grabbing me and pushing. This only happened once, and didn’t worry me after a long weekend of fighting and his apology. But since then he has been ignoring me and coming up with these unreal reasons to yell and fight. and I’m just lost, I don’t know what to do. I really try to change the little things about myself so I don’t upset him, but its gotten to the point where the tiny things turn into tornado’s (like he got mad that I innocently looked at a friends picture that my ex was in)

I know most people would just say leave him, but I love him and I depend on him for things I just cant do by myself. He says it because hes out of work and tired of not having any money (did I mention I pay all the bills?) and hes just frustrated. But he NEVER says hes sorry or even tries to make me feel better when I cry, He wont even stop yelling when I beg him to because I cant take anymore stress.

I just need some insight on how to make everything peachy again. I see that my marks are wayyy low and I risk failing this semester due to the facts that I’m always fighting with him, and I’m sponsored fo school and lose it if my marks drop. I just want him to be the nice guy he was before.

The setting of the dream was in the house. The first one was in the garden, I was sort of taking care of my rabbits and in a sudden, there was a white large duck spiraled ahead, three times it swoops down and so did I noticed that there were these things at the duck’s back, three white pigeons.. I know that dream was full of symbolism and I had no idea till now. second dream shifts, yet still the setting was on the house only it was on the kitchen door… and this was the horrible part! O.o it really scares me until now.. there was this girl on the screen door, our door at the kitchen is two, the screen door and the real door.. so, there she was trying to go inside.. but there is something wrong about her. She was exorsist! And trying to delved inside the house and all I do was to covered the door and stopped her from entering! And then, I shouted for my sister, give me the bible! And the weird thing about it, I started to say the prayer we prayed when I was 4th yr highschool… and now, I forgot the prayer. So, as I started saying the prayer inside my head she said it also with me.. Damn! it scares me! So, then finally my sister gave the bible to me and pushed the bible to her face… then, suddenly, winds crushed her down as if there was a tornado outside and yet she managed to clutched against the frame door… And i dont remmber the next thing that happens.. and then, suddenly I let her in, she was now calm and no more exorcist delved in… I lay her down to the kitchen floor and there I told her something, "This is you." I kept on saying, and I dont have any idea why I had a picture in my hand. Weird, isn’t it? So, until suddenly my dream shifts again…I was in a strange place, an outing and so many strange people around, I dont even know them.. and then, I bought a bread but then my money was not enough, but the lady in the counter just let me pass.. and i thought then, she was very kind.. and she just smiled back… I came back in my seat, some kind of a field trip on a bus.. then, i ate some.. then, all of them I inquired them to take some of my bread… All of them took some, but some part of me saying, "how about yourself? They all eat them!" but the other part of me, I was glad and happy to share the bread with them… I don’t know what was this dream trying to say.. perhpas its only trying to say I should be happy of what I have and share it with others?? hmm….because sometimes I don’t care for the others, I am so mean.. t.t And lastly, my dream became unwired… I got on a strange place.. it was so chaotic and all in confusion, there was blood, killing and battle… but all i could remmember was… we are on the top of a tree, a huge tree and all the people with me were not humans, I swear! They’re elves, like in JRR Tolkein… Tall, white skin and blondie hair and long, they have archers and suit in armor. But they’re no paying attentions at me, they continued on what was their doing.. shooting arrows to the other side of the tree, an enemy, perhaps? Then, suddenly, the tree were we in shifted and bowed.. the tendecy of it, we should grasped hard against the branches, and all the elves on the tree showered thousand of arrows to the enemy! Then, after that they started yelling and shouting in rejoice, maybe the battle is over… Then, at the hill or land, I donno.. They started to dance all over.. Smiles on their faces and some just stand at the corner while the other dance at the circle… I smiled to, and then noticed something… why there is a negro? I mean– all i know about elves they are all white and fair… then, someone whispered on my ears, that elves prefer to be like that, glamour!

And I woke up, jolted and the first thing come up with me was "where is my phone?" It was 15:45. The day is already over and it upsets me… no one wake me!

I’ve got a family of 4. Two adults and two young grade school kids. We own property in a small quiet town and have recently laid down cement foundation in hopes to build a one story home in the next 3-4 years.

Oh, if this helps? We enjoy spending time outdoors and would build a covered porch to the 5th wheel to add an "extra space."

We are currently renting a 70′s model non energy efficient small trailer home with little privacy that costs over 600 a month including the utilities.

This seems dumb! We would love to be on our property as we build because we love the neighbors three already and our kids would have more room to play anyhow without risk of damaging anything.

We would love to buy an affordable used 5th wheel and live there as we build to save money and gain privacy. We have already ran this idea past the ladies at city hall and it would be legal!

My concern, we do live in tornado alley. During the summer I worry about extreme weather and our town does not provide a tornado shelter. But at the same time the place we are renting isn’t that safe either.

Anyone else have experience living in a 5th wheel full time?

If so…why not makes buildings that way in the first place? Seems like if you are going to live in an tornadoe infested area it would make sense to build the buildings right the first time. Probaly save money in the long run.

I see a lot of religious zealots posting things about the increase in natural disasters. They fail to state the fact that the statistic isn’t "increase in natural disasters" but "increase in REPORTS of natural disasters."

So please, remember that advancements in technology help us monitor and report weather and natural disasters quicker and more efficiently than several years ago. The only reason you hear a lot about these things now is because the media found out that scaring the bejeezus out of us makes money for them. >_<

My house was damaged by a tornado (severely). State farm offers an hour for cleanup and repairs the customer makes on the house.

My total was 0.
Is there a cap on how much you can earn?
There are other people who earned money too. So is the cap only per person? Or does it go for everyone?
And I’m not doing repairs, I’m just cleaning up debris. And by my house I meant my parents house. I’m 13. Apparently there is no age limit.

Lilasophobia… the fear of tornadoes and hurricanes. It started raining like 5 minutes ago. That’s all, just a little rain. I’m nervous. I have tried everything to get rid of this fear. I learned how they form, I know how to be safe in a tornado, I’ve seen videos of tornadoes, I’ve try ed asking for help from a higher power. Nothing is working. I can’t just conquer my fear. I don’t have the time or money to chase a tornado, nor to obtain professional help. I have always been like this, I have no idea where the fear came from. I can’t live like this anymore. Just a few drops of rain has me shaking in fear. I can’t move… nothing. What the hell can I do? Please I can’t live like this anymore!!!

Lets say that the government were to supply money to a Christian faith based relief effort to help victoms of a massive earth quake or hurricane. Wouldn’t that also require them to cough up money to Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, and even Sihk organizations? It seems like they would also need to supply money to atheist organizations for atheist billboards or bus ads.

Ok so three days ago my garage burned down. A lot of stuff was destroyed, including my grandpa’s car. It sucks because it was one of the only things we had left of him. Luckily, nobody got hurt, but we’ve all had to move out. We can’t move back in for two months. I’ve had to adjust to a lot of things, living in a household with nine people, borrowing clothes from friends, and being treated like a charity case. I really missed my iPod and cell phone. They weren’t damaged, but we had to leave it there for insurance purposes. I was upset because I wanted something to stay normal. Nothing is normal anymore! When I got them back my dad yelled at me and called me selfish. I realized that I was being selfish, a lot of times in fires everything gets destroyed. So I thought about starting a charity to raise money for toys for kids who have been in disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, etc. Insurance companies always take so long to give you money, and you always have to pay for it first anyway. So does it sound like a good idea? Also, how does one start a charity?
