My house was damaged by a tornado (severely). State farm offers an hour for cleanup and repairs the customer makes on the house.

My total was 0.
Is there a cap on how much you can earn?
There are other people who earned money too. So is the cap only per person? Or does it go for everyone?
And I’m not doing repairs, I’m just cleaning up debris. And by my house I meant my parents house. I’m 13. Apparently there is no age limit.

Lilasophobia… the fear of tornadoes and hurricanes. It started raining like 5 minutes ago. That’s all, just a little rain. I’m nervous. I have tried everything to get rid of this fear. I learned how they form, I know how to be safe in a tornado, I’ve seen videos of tornadoes, I’ve try ed asking for help from a higher power. Nothing is working. I can’t just conquer my fear. I don’t have the time or money to chase a tornado, nor to obtain professional help. I have always been like this, I have no idea where the fear came from. I can’t live like this anymore. Just a few drops of rain has me shaking in fear. I can’t move… nothing. What the hell can I do? Please I can’t live like this anymore!!!

Lets say that the government were to supply money to a Christian faith based relief effort to help victoms of a massive earth quake or hurricane. Wouldn’t that also require them to cough up money to Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, and even Sihk organizations? It seems like they would also need to supply money to atheist organizations for atheist billboards or bus ads.

Do you hold this same view?

It seems like a bunch of conservatives in the states want to pour money to churches to get votes from conservative Christians.

Ok so three days ago my garage burned down. A lot of stuff was destroyed, including my grandpa’s car. It sucks because it was one of the only things we had left of him. Luckily, nobody got hurt, but we’ve all had to move out. We can’t move back in for two months. I’ve had to adjust to a lot of things, living in a household with nine people, borrowing clothes from friends, and being treated like a charity case. I really missed my iPod and cell phone. They weren’t damaged, but we had to leave it there for insurance purposes. I was upset because I wanted something to stay normal. Nothing is normal anymore! When I got them back my dad yelled at me and called me selfish. I realized that I was being selfish, a lot of times in fires everything gets destroyed. So I thought about starting a charity to raise money for toys for kids who have been in disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, etc. Insurance companies always take so long to give you money, and you always have to pay for it first anyway. So does it sound like a good idea? Also, how does one start a charity?

I live in a rural Texas town that has no Tornado sirens. The town being the way it is if you make too much noise you’ll start getting harrased by the cops etc., so I really want to go about this in a polite manner.
Is there any federal agancy that gives money to smal towns for tornado sirens? Any help for us, before we get blown away?

Dear,
Hello! Our names are Jaritza , Elizuleyma , Sarahi, and Stephanny we are currently attending the eighth grade in the William C. McGinnis School. We understand that this is our last year in the William C. McGinnis, but if you approve this we would love that you continue it.We are writing to you to ask you if we could start an organization of helping those children in need. The money we raise would be donated to UNICEF. We would love to involve our school and out community to help.We speaked to our principal Mrs. Ana Maria Mascenik and she told us that she believes is a great idea, but we need your approval. Our main reasons why we would love to do this is because there are many children that don’t have any education, many children are starving, and many children don’t have any medical attention.
To begin with there are many children with no education in this world. More than forty-three million kids don’t have a school to go to just because of the wars. Their school has been destroyed. Other kids are not able to attend school because of their country’s poverty. Although we get an education, there are many kids out there that don’t get education. Studies show that more than twenty percent of the kids in country’s under poverty can’t even get to primary school. Why don’t we join together as a school and help change that.

Second, many children are starving. Nine hundred twenty three million people across the world are hungry. About sixteen million kids die each day, because of hunger related problems. That is about one child each five seconds. We would like to help those children that have pass through Natural Disaster, such as hurricane, tsunami, tornadoes, droughts, including others. Those children don’t have anything to eat because everything is gone. A good example of this is Hurricane Katrina. Hurricane Katrina was a big hurricane that pass through New Orleans, all those families didn’t have anything to eat. This shows you that not only do we need to help the world but also our country. Our country one of the richest country in the world, it needs help. Imagine the others.
Another reason is many children don’t have medical attention. Many children get sick in countries under poverty and don’t have the help needed to survive. Poverty creates ill-health because it forces people to live in environments that make them sick, without decent shelter, clean water or adequate sanitation. The environment the most people that are under poverty live is contaminated, their nutrient isn’t the best causing many diseases. The most common diseases are Cholera, Hepatitis A, AIDS, Malaria, polio, and the West Nile virus. These children need vaccines, and a lot of medical attention. They don’t have the money needed to care for their disease, they get really sick and die. We could help by donating money to get those vaccines to does children.
We have many ways how we could earn money, if you approve our idea. One of our ideas is having a bake sale. Another idea is having a candy gram sale. Besides that we could have a tug-o-war, were students of our school could pay to play. As it is getting warmer we could have a car wash where not only teacher and parents come but also other town residents. You are probably asking yourself if we have a name for our organization, but we don’t because we are waiting for your approval before we take any further directions.
In conclusion, lets help donate money to UNICEF, there are many kids that don’t have anything to eat. Even though we have an education, there are kids around the world that don’t. Instead of sitting here assuming other people would help them lets join and help them too. Do you think that we could make a change? We do! Please approve our idea. Thank You in advance.

Sincerely,

P.S. The next page includes the students at our school that would also like this to happen.

I live in Florida and we are supposed to be getting ready for a bad hurricane season. We usually get everything we need, but are on a tight budget this year. I’m sure we will manage to get whatever we need, little by little, but it got me to thinking……What about the people who just don’t have the money? Have you ever seen the supply list?
Are all of you ready if a hurricane or any other major storm hits your area?

This is hard to make sure i get in every little bit of info i feel is needed without making this a huge question (sorry if it’s too long but i can use your kind words!)
My husband to be is the bread winner, I stay home with our son, he feels because he buys everything & pays for bills & things like that, he is exempt from cleaning up the house. So he is not much help as far as that goes, & I know a lot of you may think this is ridiculous & what a jerk? (am i right?) Well in a way he’s right, I get the privilege to be lazy & do what i want everyday, he gives me money when i need it, he takes good care of us, he just thinks my JOB is to clean & cook (which i agree, I have it good! & i don’t deny that but tend to take advantage of it i suppose….) but i wish he would help out just once in a while, especially now that i’m pregnant again, he doesn’t understand how tired I am.
AND OUR SON! Oh my gosh!! he is my little tornado, he seems to think everything belongs on the floor, he’s been getting into things like crazy (in the last few weeks which is not normal) I try to get him to help me clean up, we sing the clean up son from barney & he’ll start doing something but when i help he stops doing it & lets me do it, if i ask him to do something (such as clean up your legos in your bedroom) It is like pulling teeth & i end up getting more stressed over asking him to do something, He is only 3 (4 end of may) I think he should help with little things, but I just don’t know how to get him to help me, with effort & not having to ask like crazy…… with my fiance, I’ve talked to him about this many times & told him i don’t expect much & some days he’ll do things like pick up & clear some stuff of his coffee table which is always cluttered with who knows what! I get really irritated when he takes our car back & forth to work & such…. & i won’t drive it for days, & he thrashes it & i just get so sick of "bitching" excuse my language, but I feel like such a nag, nag on my son, nag on my man……
Any ideas? or examples of what you do to get a little more help around the house?
Are you a stay at home parent?
Thanks for your time

I haven’t had power at home since Sunday (Hurricane Ike caused a wind storm). My meager stock of frozen breast milk had to be thawed out and used. I couldn’t pump at home (no power) and only at work. When I had power, I had been pumping about 8-10oz. every day at work and pumping more at night to make the 12-16 oz. my 7 week old is eating while I’m at work. I was using a Medela DoublEase pump that isn’t that great on suction. It would take me a long time to get that much. This week, I am only getting 5-7 oz. at work and none at home because of no power. Yesterday, I switched pumps. A friend let me borrow a Medela InStyle Advanced (I have all my own tubing). It has a battery pack attachment so I could pump at home. I only got 10 oz. yesterday with the new pump (including pumping at home). It is more powerful, so I thought I would get more milk. But I am getting the same amount of milk, just in a shorter time period. Could it be that the pump is too strong and I’m not used to it?

Some factors that add to this: I haven’t been eating well (not enough and fast food basically) because I can’t cook or store food and I am stressed out because I have no power and we don’t know when it will be back on! Plus, my fiance has to have another surgery and I am super stressed about that and money! So this doesn’t help my milk supply either.

Bottom line, everything is used up except for what I pumped today and that is only 8 oz.!!! Yesterday and the day before, she ate 16 oz. while I was gone!

So now what? I guess I have to give her formula? I have no other choice, really. I have a few cans of powder that I got for free as samples, so I can use that. I really don’t want to though. But oh well, she’s got to eat.
Should I mix it with the milk I have?

How can I get my supply back on track? How can I more easily trigger let-down (I feel like I have more, I just can’t get to it. Even when I nurse her and pump with the other, I hardly get anything. I have tried looking at pictures, smelling her clothes, hearing her on the phone, nothing.).
I am picking up some fengereek tonight.

I am really upset about this. Can anyone answer any of my questions or give me some advice? I don’t know when my power will be back on and I am going a little crazy from that anyway. Please help in any way you can!
I’m at work right now using the internet in case anyone is wondering. I have to leave in 30 minutes so I anxiously await any advice. If not, I will get it tomorrow I guess! Thanks!!!
You gals are great! I am eating some oatmeal right now! (I had a packet in my drawer at work)
I drink a lot of water, but I have been forgetting to take my prenatal vitamins because of all the power outage mess has messed up my routine! I leave at 8pm and the vitamin store closes at 9, so I am getting some fengureek tonight.
I WILL get her back on exclusive breastmilk.
Oh, and I do nurse her when I am at home. She only gets a bottle of expressed milk when I am at work

What is the most destructive, isolated, force? I’m looking for a natrual disaster that on average is the most distructive and is not world-ending (like Deep Impact). Like Mount Saint Helens, a land slide, hurricane, tornado, etc. Something people could live through that’s not a supervolcano or that would probably end the world (like a giant astroid). It can change the world’s climate (like that volcano in the Philipines that lowered world tempuratures 2 degrees for a while) and doesn’t have to be measured in "human costs" (ie money, human life, etc). In general, what would you not want to be around at all (even with shelter, etc.)?

America is at war – For a reason. Even though you might not understand why.
He Vetoed the bill to pull the troops out of Iraq – Read the full bill, that was only a small part of it. The Bill was actually to FUND the troops.
Gas prices are high – Yes and it sucks big time, but again, not Bushs fault, blame supply, demand and the gas companies..
The whole Hurricane Katrina Incident – The PROCESS was slow and the leaders in Louisiana are as much at fault. Bush CANNOT order troops into a state. If he had you would be saying he was "Invading" them.
He uses scare tactics such as "terror attacks and threats" to gain control of the American people – Yeah, look at his ratings. How much control does he have in YOUR life…
Our civil liberties have lessened – How?

Even with all the shit that went on during Clintons presidency, I was still able to coherantly focus the blame where it lay…
If all he cared about was "A Paycheck" and he has the connections he has, dont you think he could be making a whole lot of money NOT being President? He certainly wouldnt have has much vitriol thrown at him daily. I have a friend who is a Texas state trooper and while he was assigned to guard Bushs ranch, he said it was common for Bush or his wife to bring them a plate of BBQ while he was on duty (This was before Cindy Sheehan lost her mind and camped there)

Yes, it is true. Just look at the data and facts. People don’t want to hear this. And when people have to take responsibility to change their lives, they always want the easy way out and a silver bullet. So when you tell people that we are going into an economic down turn worse than the great depression, the childish responses are, "Well I hope your wrong."

Let’s look at the data. When we went into the the depression the United States didn’t have an national debt of 9 trillion we had a surplus. When we went into the depression there was no such thing as credit cards and most people didn’t own homes and there wasn’t anything called a home equity loan .

When we went into the depression, the United States was not fighting 2 wars and possibly a third coming on. So when you go over the data you can see by every measurement that the economic down turn we are going in now is worse than anything we’ve ever seen before.

What is going on now is way worse than what was going on in 1973. We’re talking about a barrel of oil going at 4 and I believe it will reach 0 thus making it -12 a gallon at the pump.

You no longer hear the people on these money shows talking about "Well accounting for inflation, oil is still a lot cheaper than what is was at the worst point of the energy crisis back in the 70’s and 80’s. They don’t say that anymore because it’s not true. We are in an energy crisis now. Major media networks should be making headlines every day about what’s going to happen, come winter. But they won’t.

How are people going to afford to heat their homes over 4 dollars a gallon for home heating oil? How are they going to pay utility bills? We are going into an economic down turn, a crash that no one has ever seen before.

There is nothing in the future that’s going to save this country. And the federal reserve which by the way most people don’t know is really just a private company, it has nothing to do with the federal government . And it’s illegal also according to article 1, section 8 clause 5 of the constitution, which gives congress the sole power to print and regulate money. They’re the ones and the bankers behind them, brokers and wall street bandits that have flooded the country with cheap money, driven down the value of the dollar and are robbing the people of their future.

But people don’t understand this, they don’t know what it means to have a cheap dollar, they blame the Arabs, they blame everybody for the high oil prices except themselves and the Government.

I believe the average American is fully aware that they are living non sustainable lives. I blame pop culture today in this country. It’s all about becoming their own self serving bloated beaucracies.

The average American is sick. We have over 1 hundred million that are over weight , we have 63 million with heart disease, we have stress related diseases and cancers, and arthritis and diabetes all of which are 95% preventable.

We do nothing in our society to prevent any crisis. We’ll continue to move into hurricane alley, tornado alley, we’ll move where it’s dry as a tinder box, we’ll move to states where there is barely any water left (California), continue to smoke, we’ll eat fast foods, watch stupid television, we’ll spend money we don’t have, we have negative 1.2% savings. The Chinese have almost 38% savings. We’re negative -1. The average American could not last more than one week without an income flowing in or they would hit the poverty level.

35 million Americans are going to bed hungry. And we don’t have a single person talking about why we have 35 million Americans going to bed hungry each day and a hundred million of Americans are very close to that.

But as it is with people in America. We’re looking to dull the pain and looking for others to bail us out. The people in this country have no civic courage, and theres a lack of self respect. Take a look at the way people in this country dress/look. You go around the world you don’t see it anywhere else.

We’re talking about 4 dollars a barrel and what do we hear? It’s the presidential clown race. and if anyone thinks that the Democrats or Republicans are going to change the course, they’re kidding themselves. And I think most people know it but they continue to say the same stupid thing over and over again.

"I’m going with (Clinton, Obama, McCain) with this one because it’s the lesser of 2 evils." What kind of relationship is that? Oh the last person I was with was terrible, this one isn’t as bad but it’s terrible as well. It’s this kind of logic that runs rampant, and it’s pathetic to see.

High prices, people losing jobs, becoming homeless all fuels the fire for a major break down in the country and people will panic and when people panic, all hell will break loose. That’s ok, no body should listen, just watch American Idol, ride around in your SUV and everything will be fine.

The bottom line is, this nation is on a non stop course to destruction and the best that I can say to people is, understand what’s going on and start taking pro active measures to avoid the worst.

I hope these words are a cry in the dark and some people wake up to this truth. Start looking with open minds.

Do they have insurance? What happens during a flood, tornado, fire etc?
What about robbery?
Does the bank collect insurance on a robbery does the companybsimply lose that money as an expense?
Is it determined by the amount lost? Is there a deductible?
What happens when a bank loses cash?

She’s a single mother of two and very poor. She lost her job due to a hurricane and had apparently sold her car about a week before the storm hit. She spent the money on buying supplies for the storm since she had no way to leave. FEMA is gay and will not help because she was living in a hotel. They didn’t even offer to help her pay to stay there. She is now working in the hotel she was staying at but they are paying her only 3 dollars a room to clean and its a small hotel. She needs a car bad and no one will help her or can help her. What can she do?

It is realy sad because they offered her food stamps but no way to get another job or back and forth to this job. Her EX never pays child support and he’s in jail so there will be no "going after him" he’s already in jail so they can’t do much there. POS CPS came to her hotel room after people reported she was prosituting and the kids were eating out of the garbage. This is F’D up since she would never prostitute and I help her buy food and i know there is always food there. CPS caseworkers should be shot IMO and they are lucky i was not there when they said these things. I respect this woman but I cannot help her with a car because I do not make that much. BTW this is the 4th time someone has called CPS on her and everytime they leave with no findings and everytime they never say "Sorry" ever.

I need answers and saving to buy one is hardly an option at this point, she needs to go back to work.

Where is the best place to live in the USA if you have never been there. Not to hot , not to cold, no tornado’s etc. I though about Washington on the west coast or maybe close to chicago by Lake Michigan. I work in the Medical field and want to study – so money could be tight.
Any info appreciated.

My area was devastated by Hurricane Ike. I went to a POD site near my workplace one day last week during lunch and it was my only visit. There was no power at work at the time but I did have power at home. The only supplies I picked up was 2 bags of ice, 1 case of water, and 3 single MREs. When I got back several people in the office started yelling at me about taking food away from families and children in desperate need. I know 2 of these people who were yelling at me had been going to the POD site every single day (bragged about how much they had stockpiled at home) and neither of them have kids. The next day when I came in to work there was photo of a child starving in Africa taped to my computer along with a note that said "Thanks to you this is what will happen to a family you greedy selfish whore". The only reason I got the supplies is that I had no money except for what little cash was in my wallet, and the cash was needed for gas since I live over 30 miles from my job. The ice and water were because I had been ill for several days and I finally got to a point where I just needed some cold water.
MetalQueen: You are a cold, heartless witch. Until you experience the destructive power of a hurricane first hand SHUT THE HELL UP!

To everyone else: Thank you.
