Just hearing about Irene brought back memories of Ivan in 2004 D:
I remember….I was on the couch watching tv…and my dad was checking outside on how it was looking…I was little,and a bit scared…but now since I’m an amateure storm chaser,i feel a little scared,yet excited at the same time….If any of you were in the path of Ivan,you oughtta know what i’m talking about…but anyway,It was a tropical storm when it tore through good ol’ North Carolina here,I had to sleep in the living room when it happened,it was so scary! the power went out,the sky was red D: the thunder was deafening,the lightning was bright,the rain was so loud,and the wind was so strong it bent the forest behind my house so back that you could see the interstate so clearly behind that! as soon as it passed,the power was out for 2 freaking days! the next day after it had come and gone,we went outside to see the damage…we had down power lines,mulitple car wrecks on the interstate,fallen trees,shackles from the roof scattered all over the yard,and a peace of a roof from a house I didn’t even know!!! At least our neighbores were kind enough to share their generator :) but dear God,I will never forget that monster of a storm,I still remember every second of that night and probably will for the rest of my life…we got hit by many other tropical storms after that,but that was the worst one! (not to mention a reported tornado in my area >.>…) whoever was in the path of Ivan,feel free to share your story :) !

I used to ADORE storms. I used to stare at them in awe when I was a kid. They were like lullaby’s to me. Then I ended up watching tornado videos on YouTube and then a severe storm came around and I literally freaked out. My palms started to sweat, my arms and legs were shaking, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t do ANYTHING without thinking about the terrible storm outside. It wasn’t really bad, but it had some pretty epic lightning that was constantly flashing like strobe lights. It was also pretty windy, with hailstones about the size of beads. Anyways, then maybe three weeks later, another storm came around, and I ended up crying for a little because I was so scared. I know that it’s not a serious medical condition or crap like that, because it’s wearing down a bit. Any suggestions on how to forget about the storms and enjoy them? Thanks :)

I am frantic and i am scared to death by tornadoes, the other day i was at work in my office building on the 30th floor and i saw the weather getting pretty bad with all the lightning and rain so i decided to go home and check on my wife. So immediately i left what i was doing and head for the express elevator, on the way down i got an weather channel notice on my iphone of a tornado warning and franticly rushed home. So i drove home on the interstate and the weather was pretty bad while everyone was seeking shelters as the sirens went off like crazy for 45 minutes. When i got home my wife was in the closet and she asked me why i left work, i said i was scared that she would’ve gotten hurt. She started crying and said why did you risk your life running home like that, you could have gotten killed and left me. She said that she would’ve been perfectly fine and that i should see my doctor because of how paranoid i am with these tornadoes. Do you think i should go see my doctor like she told me ? She said she doesn’t want me to do this again because she said i might not be lucky next time. The tornado didn’t hit us it dissipated about a mile from our house.

WASHINGTON BEACH
The girl with the long, silky, brown hair was relaxing on the nice warm, white sand. She loved the salty smell of the ocean, and the soothing sounds the waves made when they curled and spread out. She always got caught up in her head when, the sun hit the water, and made the skies light up in colors of earth tones. No one could ruin this moment, but the storm. It was starting to take over the sea, forcing the water to start to rumble. The clouds began pushing the sun, down with its force, making the color run afar.
Then a streak of lightning struck! She had awakened, and fell right down to reality. She quickly got up, and scuttled home. Rain was falling, as if the clouds were weeping. When she had gotten home her mother was outside yelling, “Ariel! Ariel! Get in the basement! Hurry! Grab your dog and get in the basement!” Arial stood there for a second. Then she ran into the urban styled house, scooped up the tiny dog at the door, and put him in the dark, clammy basement. She turned around, and saw the harsh storm coming! The wind was picking up over by the mountain. It started to swirl, like the dog when he chases his tail. Her mother grabbed her by the arm and pulled her in the basement while shutting the doors. “I hope your father is ok” she said, lighting the candles.
“Mom, daddy is fine.” Ariel picked up her little Chihuahua, and put him in the pen they kept for him, and turned the radio on. “Are we going to be ok? I was down by the beach, and it got grave fast.” “Sweetie, I’m sure we will be fine. Our home might not be.” They both chortled, and sat down. They pondered upon the noises coming from outside. A few hours later the sounds had stopped. The man on the radio said the tornado has died down and is now just finishing and for everyone to remain calm. “Mom, you know when they say remain calm that’s just when I start to worry.” “Oh, stop that, he is just trying to be helpful. Now, let’s listen to what he has to say.”
The man continued and said, “We are very sorry to report this, but almost all of Washington beach is gone. To everyone who is tuning in I repeat Washington beach is almost completely gone. The storm came up on us like a cockroach.” The radio started making ludicrous noises, and gave out. “Oops, I had forgotten to put new batteries in. I am so sorry.”
“Its ok mom, we don’t need that radio anyways. I just can’t believe our home is gone. It is gone just like everything else right? It went so quick.
Mom! What are we going to do?” “We are going to find a phone when we can get out of here, and call your father. He will know what to do next.” Both of them were ready to see the destruction that had occurred. Mother lifted the door of the basement. “Gasp! Er..Uhh..Ariel, Darling, you stay in here and keep an eye on the dog for me. I don’t want her getting hurt; besides she is just a little baby.”
“Mom, I’m not a baby. I am twelve years old! I think I can handle what it looks like.” Mother looked at Ariel and said “Ok, but you still have to stay here so I know where you are.” She took out her distinct, glossy, ebony colored cell phone and held it up towards the evolving sky. “Hmm… No Signal. You have to stay here; I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t find you out there. It is jeopardous out here! Please stay here with the dog.” “Fine, I will stay.” Mother left in search to find a working phone.
After about thirty minutes, Ariel couldn’t take it anymore. She had to go out there. “I could just take a peek. I mean it’s not like a crime or anything, and mom would never know.” She said. “Oh! I have to find a way to bring you, Butterscotch.” She then started searching for an old purse she used to carry him in. “Here it is!” She took the purple bag with the bright orange letters on it, and put the dog in the bag. “Now, let’s go on an adventure.”
She slipped her bright pink rain boots on, and opened the door. To her surprise there was nothing there! Her house wasn’t even there. She just stared at what was left of her white and green, urban styled home. She then looked towards the beach. “Well, at least the beach is there. Although, how could a beach not be there, it has to be there.”
She stepped out of the basement and glanced at a figure from afar. He stopped then started running towards her. “Ariel! I’m so glad I found you! Where on earth have you been?!? Everyone is supposed to be at the town meeting! Common!” he said with a shriek voice. Ariel looked at him with no emotions. “What is the meeting about?”
“I don’t know that’s why we have to go!!! Common!! We have to get going!” The boy pulled on her arm. “Danny, is your house ok?” He didn’t reply. “Danny!” Danny stopped and said, “My house got picked up by the storm.” “Oh, I’m sorry” “No, it’s ok. No one has a house anyways. This whole Island is covered with house materials. It is a disgrace this happened; I wonder where everyone else is.” “I don’t know. I was lying on the beach before the storm. Everyone had gone home, but I didn’t notice.”
“We need to get to that meeting Ariel.” They both started on their way to the meeting. On the way they saw all the real damage that had happened. Trees in the middle of the football stadium, nothing but rubbish everywhere, houses were in streets, and lights were even on the beach! It seemed like there wasn’t even grass, or sand. “Nothing but crap!” “Oh, common Danny we can clean it up. We can make the best of this. This can be the start of a new beginning.” “This could also be a new ending Ariel!” “Stop thinking like that! Now, let’s just get there!” They finally arrived at the meeting. The entire town’s people, along with their leftover belongings, were there.
The mayor had just begun to speak, when they had arrived. The whole town was chattering amongst themselves. The Mayor stood on an old table he had spotted, and said, “Silence! This meeting will go by shortly if we can all participate! Thank you. Now, I as mayor am going to see to it that we can get some help, but until then we all have to work together. Before anyone interrupts me, I would like to say this couldn’t get any worse. You as the people need to get together all the food you have. We will feed everyone equally, and fairly, but first we need order. This means we will have certain groups with certain jobs to fulfill. Everyone must do there job! Ok, so are there any questions, before I give out jobs?” Ten people raise their hands as high as they can reach. “Ok, good no questions. I want everyone in age groups. All the kids by that tire, everyone in there teens by that limping tree thing, Oh! and all the adults over by that bus.” Everyone had started to chit-chat, as they moved. “I told everyone to be quiet! You people must be quiet!”
After everyone had there jobs, Ariel took it upon herself to seek her friends.
Is it bad writing?.. I feel it falls into bad writing. what do you think?

From an early age I have been a devoted storm chaser. Yes, if there’s threatening weather happening and I can get to it you can bet some pictures will taken of this so-called atmospheric event. Makes no difference, lightning, thunder, tornadoes, hail storms etc. I’m always outside with camera in hand to catch the action.

In the year 2008 while visiting Adrian Michigan a severe thunderstorm struck from out of nowhere thus, propping me to instantly go to the car for a digital camera. I took 20 or more pictures of this weird looking stormy sky quite unaware that I had accidentally caught something of a supernatural nature. Something, that would surprise the most skeptic critic.

It’s obvious that these letters or numbers? Were not met for only my interpretation. Therefore, I chose to share them with the entire world tonight.

Too answer this question please review this photo on my "Yahoo pulse homepage) – (Adrian Michigan 2008 storm, letters in the sky) and tell me truthfully what you think it could possibly all mean. Now as God is my witness be honest when viewing the image. Thus, remember that any editing in a digital format (fraudulent computer enhancements) leaves undesirable signature distortions behind it. Therefore, it is next to impossible to modify any digital image without causing noticeable distortions in that same image.

I like to film lightning shows, thunderstorms, hurricanes, and tornadoes. I’ll hopefully be prepared with all of my equipment this season. When does storm season begin? Is it May 30th?

Tornadoes start for whatever reason, but how do they keep going? Energy must come from somewhere. Lightning starts from clouds gently moving overhead. It’s energy must come from somewhere. Are these natural occurrences recreate-able?
My basic question is – the energy must come from somewhere, where does it come from?

Once there was a massive lightning attack above our neighborhood. It was terribly windy right before, knocking down some trees. It was just odd since we live in a hilly area.

I had a dream last night that I was round about with my mother, grandmother, and father. It’s quite weird for I found myself to be in two different settings that in real life, are thousands of miles apart. My dream was that I saw a terrible thunder cloud, and it started to have lightning spout out from it. Then all of a sudden, as I was sitting in the office of my mother’s work place, a tornado emerged and I pulled my mother quickly away and all her other assistants away too. I don’t remember how we got shelter, But I do remember that I left her somewhere knowing she was safe and I was comfortable with her safety. I picked up with my father and grandmother and I noticed that I was in some odd city, as to say maybe Chicago, New York City Harbor, or some city like that. I huddled over my grandmother beneath these stairs for a while, as my father stood there watching out. Well, one tornado came as we finally were holding on to a counter top, and it just went through us without us being swept away. The house was sort of moved, but not terribly. Then we were knocked outside, and there were now two tornados. All of a sudden, I think they came together and formed one ginormous one. Us three went and under shelter in a bathroom and somehow we were back outside because I think tornado swept the roof off. We were then running through the city, as I remember huge sky scrapers and work buildings were in the picture. I could see myself running from the tornado and I was swept up, as along with my father and grandmother. After this, I was back to the ground and I assumed my grandmother was dead as I was calling out for my dad. Well, my grandmother came back for me, for which she wasn’t dead, and was crying in tears saying that the tornado crushed my father and killed him. Strange enough, I found myself with mix emotions of depression and hate, but also happy and relieved knowing my father was in heaven, having to be with Christ now.

Anyone know what this could lead to?

40mph is said to be F0 grade on the Fujita scale, but dust devils are said to reach speeds in excess of 60 mph. They’re said to never be counted as tornadoes(Twister, Fury on the Plains video) Tornadoes are said to have thunderstorm connections, but something I found online said a lot of twisters have formed w/ no sign of lightning, so what’s the difference b/n that & a fair weather type thermal? Tornadoes also don’t always have visible connections to parent clouds. What would you call a tornado that did meet all the profile characteristics, but only packed 35mph winds?

I am looking at Mizuno volleyball shoes and am trying to decide which to get. Either the Tornado 5′s or the Lightning 6′s. Any prior knowledge or experience with either would be much appreciated. (I am not in a location where I can try on, or go look at them)

Also the Lightning is slightly lighter than the tornado’s does this make a difference for those who have tried them?

this is for a final project for science. i had to use vocab words.
~~~~
The skies were very stormy. There were tornados in the water. Their plane was having a lot of air resistance due to the high wind speed. Nothing but a slight view of a lake on the island could be seen due to all of the fog. Suddenly the pilot’s altimeter was showing that the plane was stalling. They were headed straight down to the lake. When the plane hit the lake with a huge splash it was eventually slowed down by the fluid friction of the lake. The plane was starting to sink rapidly with great force.
They looked out of their window for a frame of reference as to where they were. They had to get out of the plane because the plane was sinking rapidly with great force. After they got out of the plane they walked a distance until they came to a small village. They looked on their map and saw that the vector that they were in was a small town called Pottsville. In another resultant vector of the map it said, “abandoned nuclear power plant”. Just than a fog much thicker than the fog before was approaching at an increasing speed. After about an hour after staying at an old store for shelter an earthquake moving at a sudden instantaneous speed had just started. They ran outside and ran into a field and just as they left the entire village fell down.
They looked ahead and they saw flashing red lights. As they looked at the approaching building they saw that they were moving at a fast relative motion. As they came closer to the structure they figured that it must be the nuclear power plant working on strong nuclear force and generating a weak Nuclear force that the map had mentioned. As they came nearer to the plant zombies started to come out of the doors at a fast average speed. They ran away from the zombies at the plant at a high velocity.
Suddenly they fell down with a hard net force but were able to get up again because of the friction on their shoes. There was a strike of lightning that just narrowly missed them and they felt the static friction of the strike. The zombies were getting closer and were approaching with high terminal velocity. They approached a town name Newton and were approaching the town’s docks. They found a boat and started the boats engines. They could feel the boats inertia as the boat sputtered and the engine eventually failed.
The zombies were getting so close now that they were feeling the zombies gravitational force. They found a harpoon gun on the boat and shot it into the crowd of zombies. Unfortunately the harpoon gun’s projectile motion was off and the harpoon hit a gas station. Just then the gas station exploded with a lot of momentum and the law of conservation of momentum almost seemed to not apply the explosion was so great. A large mass of zombies was wiped out and the explosion caused a few buildings to topple over and making a lot of zombies weight. They escaped to a bank and found a vault to hide in. they could not get the vault to open it because an electromagnetic force locked it. They got to the basement to shut off the power. They moved the door to the vault open with a lot of sliding friction. Suddenly gravity caused several zombies to come out of the ceiling with rolling friction.
I’ve moved to Oklahoma city in Oklahoma to stay for college at the university. My 16 story dorm building is about half a mile from the school and sometimes i walk to there and sometimes home at night, as you know Oklahoma is tornado alley state and we always get tornadic storms. It was raining and lightning very crazy last night and there was a tornado watch but thank god nothing formed out of the storms. In case there was a tornado warning at night in my area, how would i detect a tornado is on the ground ? Because sometimes i am in my dorm alone at night so i don’t know how to know if one is coming, should i check use my computer’s internet to detect a tornado ? Also, because sometimes i walk to fast food restaurants at night to get food so i want to know how i could detect if there’s a tornado so i could take cover before it’s too late. Can anyone please help me out ? I would like to know before i get killed by one of these storms.
