If church’s get destroyed by tornado’s, hurricanes, & floods all the time……..?
…….does the insurance company still consider these "Acts of God"?
How would the "church-goers" view the reason behind the "Act of God" destruction?

If you had any partial or complete damage to your home or property as a result of the recent tornadoes or other storms…
1. Did your insurance company respond in a timely manner?
2. What do you pay for renters/homeowners premiums yearly?
3. Did you get the settlement you deserved from your insurance company, considering what you pay them?
4. What is your company, and do you recommend them?
Just sympathetic and curious.
Thanks.
I don’t work for an ins. company, I am just curious. I live in a somewhat tornado and hurricane-free state, and just wondered what some of you are dealing with.
Recently a tornado made two large oak trees fall on both of my family’s vehicles. My husband’s vehicle was totaled. However, my brand new 2006 Nissan Armads sustained 00.00 in damages. It must have a whole new roof and the majority of side panels replaced. The insurance company refuses to total the vehicle since the value of the vehicle is still high. My problem is: Who wants a car whose top has been cut off and replaced with after-market crash parts? This is a safety issue in my eyes. If we settle, how much is my wrecked vehicle worth. I know that I have lost a lot of value in it due to the type of damage alone. Any tips or advice is welcomed.
Who has a actual inventory of their belongings if a tornado, fire theft, etc were to happen. How long would it take you to get it all together for the insurance company? What would you be willing to pay for someone to come in and inventory your belongings, give you a copy and keep a secure copy in case of future need. Of course the person would be bonded and insured. Any other thoughts are welcome.
My car was broken into and this resulted in a broken window. I filed a report with police and then filed a claim with my auto insurance. I spent all day literally (8:00am-5:00pm) dealing with my insurance company. They kept telling me that they couldnt find anyone who could get me in to get my window fixed. I finally found a auto glass shop that could repair my window and was on the list of shops with my insurance company. Then, my insurance company said that the local shop would not "match their price".We were having tornado warnings in my area that night so I wanted to get the window fixed that day. They told me the best they could do was to suggeest using a trashbag and tape and cover it up the best I could. I found out today from this auto glass company that my insurance lied to me just because they didnt want to pay the claim. Can I sue my insurance company for giving me false information?
I am a resident in Suffolk Va. and a tornado hit my home. I have used an online insurance company (rhymes with bomesite.com) and now they are not helping me at all. My question is they want to just patch the roof and siding and call it a day. The problem is that the siding is no longer manufactured and the shingles cannot be matched. My homeowners clause says that all my shingles and siding have to be the same type and color. I had replacement value cost and they are saying that the color doesnt matter as long as it’s replaced. Can they do this and make me pay to do all the work or are they obligated to fix all since it cannot be "replaced?
Thanks
Ken
We made 2 claims in 2008, one was for a tornado that tore our roof off, and other house in our area were affected also. That was the Massive tornado in the news in Febuary 2008 in Memphis Tn. Then in August 2008 we had to make a claim because our car got broken into and the navigation and computer bag with laptop (in the back boot of car) got stolen. Mind you other cars were broken into on our street also. And their stuff were stolen also. Police came and did the whole report thing and said to claimmon insurance because our window was smashed in and car was vadilized. 3 other homes down the street were hit to. So we get a letter from our insurance company stating that as of April 25th we will no longer have insurance with them. Because of the theft claim of 0. So now we have been trying to get insurance with other companies and they have been telling us that we cannot get insurance. I just found out that the owners before us (who lived in this house) made a claim for a new roof in 2005. Could that be another reason to why the insurance companies will not insure us? In any case if we cannot get insurance then we are just going to move out and rent another house. Because we cannot get insurance, so let the mortgage company and inusrance company sort it out. Next question: why are the insurance companies doing this to us? We did not ask the tornado to rip off our roof, and we did not ask for the car to be broken into on our drive way? Well has any one ever heard of this rubbish before?
We have had this insurance company for years, even when we had renters insurance. We not ever, EVER made a claim before this. All I have to say is "Your in good hands" is complete false advertising.
When we made the tornado clame in 2008, we had to submit 3 quotes for a new roof. We did, the insurance company reviewed the qoutes, and agreed to pay for a brand new roof. We chose from one of thr roofing companies submitted. A new roof costed ,000. The roof was put on, and it was a 2 dimentional architectual roof. But within 4 months it was leaking in 20 areas into our house. Not little leaks, but drip and enough water to peel the wall off leaks. So the Company that has been roofing for 20 years, botched our house, worse then it was before. The company came back 3 times to attempt to rectify the problem, but to no avail. Now we are still leaking, we informed the inurance company that the roof is still leaking badly. But the reply was: not our problem, we did what we could. And after informing the insurance company of the roof still leaking, that is then when we got the cancellation letter. So here is the thing, when we bought our house, it passed inspection. We had a tornado“““`
A tornado tear off our roof, In saying that over 100 shingles were ripped off. And it cause damage to the ceiling and walls. Now we had it fixed, by one of the 3 companies we submitted. And the roof is leaking worse then before. Our house was not like this before the tornado, so why should WE pay for a house that is BROKEN? It was not like this in 2007 when we first bought it? Now, second point the mortgage company had to approve the house inspection before we agreed to buy the house. So now, after the roof replacement, the house does not pass a house inspection. (we had one done) We did what we were meant to do, had a new roof put on by a Roofing company, that went out of business after all this. The insurance company won’t renews us, we cannot get a company to insure us. So though, we used one of the 3 quotes sumbitted, the insurance is not helping. Guess what WE will not pay another penny to the mortgage, we will move out and let the Insurance sort out the situation.
Fact, is fact. We did not cause this. The INSURANCE COMPANY take money off people, and they take the RISK. That is what they are in business for. So Yes, let them try to back us into a corner. We will move out and rent a house that does not leak every where before we pay 3-4 time the insurance coverage.
an "Act of God"!?!?
ESPECIALLY the Insurance Company!!
We own a small construction company. Several weeks ago we were called to clean up an elderly woman’s house that had been destroyed by a tornado. She was hospitalized, so her son contacted us. We completed the job, which required quite a bit of hauling and bulldozing work. We sent the bill to her. (Her insurance had been filed) After the woman got the bill, she has told us she is not paying and that she did not hire us in the first place! The bill is 00. The job has already been done. Do we have any legal standing to sue or are we going to lose this money????? The son did hire us to do the work for his mother–she was in the hospital after the tornado hit. I have spoke to her insurance company and they’ve told me she has more money coming from her claims and that it will be paid directly to her. How can we get paid for what we’ve done??
Trying to get my insurance company to pay for my wind damage.I think my home was hit by a tornado.
Does anyone know of any Insurance companys who wouldn't pay when a tornado or herricane blew away their home and they didn't get any help from their insurance company?
We live in tornado alley and pay a very high premium every year on our mobile home in the hopes that if it ever blows away we get another one. Who doesn't pay, which Ins. co.?
which Ins. co. do you know who does pay off good?
this is one of the most expensive Northern Dutch mobil homes and it is on cement runners and anchors cemented in the ground. It has been through some really high winds without any damage.
I live in a housing complex in a condominium. I have taken home owner's insurance policy as required by mortgage company. Recently my insurance company informed me that they are removing ' earth quake ' coverage from policy from next renewal cycle as it is not economical to the insurance company.
My questions are –
a) As general rule what kind of insurance one should take. I mean – fire, theft, flood, earth quake, tornado, hurricane, twister etc.
b) what monetary coverage one should go for ? I mean say house is of 300,000 value.
c) If the present company does not give earth quake coverage, then should I consider going to other company.
d) Can any one give some ideal what will be the premium per year for getting all above coverage for 300,000 value house.
I have read the answers of – mbrcatz17, hi91977 and harrell1956. Thanks,
But my questions still unanswered are -
a) Should I take coverage for Earth quake, Hurricane, Twister, Tornado and flood. I live in new jersey. It is not flood zone area.
b) I existing premium is 300 $/year for Fire, earthquake, hurricane but without flood. Now my company is removing Earth quake and said it will save $ 17 /year. If I go to another insurance company what will it cost appx. for earth quake coverage ? And should I go for it or not ?
We received a check in the mail in November from our insurance company for . Nothing else was with it. We called and they said that we had overpaid our premium for the year and that was our reimbursement. Now we have lost our home in a tornado and our insurance company is saying that when we cashed that check we agreed to reduce our policy. They say that they sent paperwork with it….but all we received what the check…..NO paperwork. I was still under the assumption that we had the original coverage. When I asked them to provide the policy that I signed….all they could provide was the original for the larger amount, but are still refusing to pay more than the reduced amount. Is this legal?
Sorry guys, i live in Mississippi. So, from you guys are saying, I would have definitely had to sign something accepting the reduction? Would the burden of proof be on me or them?
I have been noticing the insurance company's lobbing the politicians for years to put power into their hands to make a profit at the expense of the people! Young drivers who have no accidents for the first year shouldn't have to pay overwhelming prices because their young and after their first years driving experience it should lower! That's the way it should be, butt no! If you lose your job and your insurance lapses, then you have to carry high risk insurance for what, three years I think? This is all heavy handed policy making on behalf of the insurance company's by the law makers and it shouldn't be so! The wind blows hard and takes the roof off of your house and just because its not a tornado the insurance company's doesn't have to pay because its an act of god? OK, what god are they talking about? The United States Government shall not make no laws favoring one religion over the other! Its time the people stop this outlandish act of government passing laws in favor of the insurance company's in an effort to make profits! Our government is out of control and we the people need to act on this! Don't you think?
I'm ready to remove the question for the reason that the respondents seem to not know what is truth in what their talking about! For one, the universal health care the government is trying to pass is that if your company carry's health care, you are forced to carry it with a little added in the payment to cover the ones uninsured! Hog wash! And as for the god thing by Andrew, the statement was from the Constitution I printed and not my personal feelings! They call it being informed and educated!
I was told by the mortgage company they never got a bill from my insurance company and my escrow account is over ,700.00 to the good. I even called in February asking for my insurance information and was kind of given the brush off. Now it's completely my fault. i should have stayed on top of them. I just want my home repaired so I can get insurance myself. I'm just getting the run around by the mortgage company on the process of repairs.. the incident happen on the 11th of April and it is now April 28th I have not received one call from anyone yet. Do they make repairs or what?
We where hit by a tornado 3 weeks ago. Our insurance company keeps saying that we dont have 39,000 dollars worth of damage. But yet they want us to replace everything all the way across the front and down one side. The floor all the way thru the mobile home is messed up. The master bathroom is got to be redone completely. I need a new roof because it has a leak. But the adjuster says because she cant see a hole that more than likely they wont pay to have it fixed. Wouldnt it be cheaper for them to total it out? Should i take legal action? Sorry this was so long.
The adjuster said that the roof was so well cool sealed that she couldnt find a hole. The wind damage put holes from one end to the other and busted out 3 windows. From the wind shifting the trailer the flooring poping up everywhere. When you walk across it you can feel where its uneven.
Plus my camper was pushed into the outside near the master bathroom puting holes in the wall. It also pushed the bathroom counter forwards. It also knocked the mirror off the wall at my tub and put a hole in the wall also.
