My mom wants to move to Tennessee. she has some teacher friends who retired there that really enjoy it, and a few others that say they are thinking of moving there.

she likes that there are no property taxes, cost of living is lower, and they can get a really nice house for less than what we can get one elsewhere.

I was looking around and a few places seem nice… According to the Neighborhood Scout website that talks about crime in an area… Erin is a safe area with lower crime than where we live now (and where we live now there is almost none.) as is Dover (in middle Tennessee near the Kentucky border)

My main concern though, is natural disasters. Where we live now we don’t get Tornadoes or major floods, or hurricanes or earthquakes.

I know Tennessee is supposedly big for Tornadoes and flooding, and I hear there is a fault line that can cause almost as big of a quake as they’re expecting in California one day. So I don’t know how safe it would be to move there.

Is there a way to find out how many tornadoes, quakes and other natural disasters effect the area a year (especially around Dover/Erin and other parts of the northern half of Tennessee)?

Cause I really am anxious about the idea of moving there if there is a lot of danger from Tornadoes or quakes and such. I have a phobia of tornadoes and quakes especially.

I’m interested if I can buy a 4×4 pickup that was involved in the floods from the hurricane. Did the dealers or insurance companies scrap all the vehicles? I’m a professional auto technician @ my hometown General Motors dealership for 20 years and I’m not afraid to buy one [if avaliable] and restore it for my own personal use. How would I get in contact with the dealers or insurance companies?

How would you like to see your old PS2 games (with the same graphics) come back for the PS3 80GB?! Sounds dumb, right? I’m not talking about the same EXACT game! I mean, how would you like to see realistic explosions? Think about Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. How about being able to permanently destroy buildings? Level overhead freeways? No, I’m NOT talking about terrorism! I’m talking about what you normally can’t do in a video game due to graphic limitations! Imagine: watching a paramedic getting out a gurney and actually putting the patient into the ambulance instead of just kneeling over the patient making stupid comments and doing chest compressions! Realistic thunderstorms where trees can get struck by lightning and actually drop ‘singed’ branches or even whole boughs!! Power outages! Floods! Tornadoes! How about watching various fires burn and permanenty "gut" anything! Various strengths of car explosions! Being able to leave "bullet holes" in vehicles? The possiblities!

hey i am currently 16 years old. PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE THING..I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE THAT :(
i feel like i am grown up but i certainly do not feel like i know everything. actually i feel like i know absolutely NOTHING about this world.
throgh the internet, i researched many things about life and dreams spiritual worlds and stuff and it all seems very confusing.
i am a christian and i really do believe in God and that i will one day return to him. i have done research of other religions and they all interest me.
I am wondering what will really happen when i die? should i really be scared of dying or should i just live life without worrying about it..
how can i not worry about dying when it can happen at any second? it really scares me how so many people die when they least suspect it…from babies to the elderly, they just die…
its really sad to me and i want to live life until i am very old.
Many questions just linger in my head and i feel like they will never be answered…
i do not know the right person to ask my questions to, so i just keep them to myself.
i have also rad about astral projection and it really really interested me. If i can do an out of body experience, then what does life on earth mean??
if life is an illusion, then whats next?!?!?!?
to me, it seems like earth is falling apart. all i hear about these days are earthquakes, tsunamis, tornados, floods, hurricanes, and much more. I believe that something will happen on 2012 but i dont know what (obviously…any ideas?)
even though i am still a teen and have a lot more to endure, what do i have to look forward to?
all i read about in papers are bad things and the itnernet doesnt help….
i have so much life ahead of me and i want to explore many things, but it scares me that i might be cut short one of these days…
please tell me what to do…………tell me who i can talk to…videos to watch..websites to visit..people to talk to..ANYTHINGGG
thanks for reading..please answer

Kay so I read this as an answer to a question about transsexual people.

"Transsexualism is like a tornado. The tornado is the only force in nature that is entirely destructive. Fires destroy everything, but they clear away dead underbrush and fertilize the soil… it even is required for many flowering plants and trees to germinate. Hurricanes, rains, floods, mudslides, wind, earthquakes, all destroy but build… marshes and wetlands, mountains and valleys… all violent forces of nature in effect are required for life on this planet. But not a tornado… it is just a violent force of nature which destroys and leaves behind nothing but desolation.

Transsexualism is like that… it destroys everything. It takes away wives from husbands and husbands from wives, children from their fathers… It destroys families and friendships, it takes away all jobs and sources of income, your life insurance, your medical and dental insurance, your eyeglass insurance, your retirement, your house, your home, your everything. Everything you knew and loved, were once comfortable with, were happy with. It takes it all. "

OMG thats so pessimistic, how can you say being transsexual is like a tornado? Omg its not even that bad. Im trans, so what. At least I still enjoy feeding and bathing myself. Why are people so negative!? I personally view being trans as a positive experience in many ways.

I think I asked this question last year and some said it was just going in cycles like always. However, in the last six months Oklahoma has had an extreme blizzard that closed almost everything down, a series of damaging tornadoes all over the state in one week, a hailstone, and now a record-breaking flood (more than 11 inches yesterday in some areas around Oklahoma City.) I am wondering what else we have to deal with. The tornado damage hasn’t been repaired yet, nor all of the hail damage, now floods.

How do daugthers and sons of God lie all their ways through to the white house?
And how could so called christian conservative be part of all these lies?
Just look at US right now.
Bad fires, Hurricanes, Floods, Tornadoes,.
Recession, high gas price, Iraq war, foreclosures, trillion US debt.

Is anybody out there aware that a large section of our country is experiencing record flooding, record tornado’s, destruction all the way from Arkansas to Wisconsin, to Ct. ? Does anyone care? Why haven’t we heard about the farmers and their crops? Could it be these are just regular folks? Perhaps even a large majority of them white? Bible grasping, gun toting, salt of the earth folks? You know the one’s, those scary Conservative types?
Jenni j – mwith all due respect to your point of view you obviously have a very limited knowledge as to how our domestic economy is affected very severely by what happens to those folks in the mid-west. Also you extremely flippant attitude ie. quit complaining and fix it. and it is much easier for them to rebuild. Shows a painfully narcisitic view. What exactly do you base your opinion on ? Are you aware of building costs in the mid-west? Are you aware that floods are not covered under normal homeowners insurance? Are you aware that the Federal Flood Insurance fund is Bankrupt? A major cause of that fact is the constant rebuilding of homes in the Gulf Region and further north in the Atlantic? Because people insist on living in hurricane ravaged areas such as the islands off the coast of N. Carolina? By the way the Governors of all these states have asked for Federal assistance, freeing up Federal funds. Is that all these people deserve? Where are their Fundraising concerts? etc.
To that point where are all those special stars ? They had a Haiti Relief Concert whipped up in no time? Granted I do feel for those people, but seriously how much money do you think really made it to the truly needy in Haiti?and not their notoriously corrupt government. Yet except for the efforts in Memphis To restore the Grand Ol’ Opry and The Raiman(?Spelling) Auditorium. Where are all those darling stars for the true Heartland of our country? You know the people they make millions singing about? Making movies about, sucking up to, to get their votes? I hope those folks have a long memory as they too struggle to put their lives back together and food on our tables.

How can you make things up such as Socialist One World Government? Where does that come from? Or a scheme to make you pay more taxes?

Santa Catarina!
I’m from there, I’ve seen climate change with my own eyes, people I know lost their homes
Never a cyclone struck Brazil before.
Never had any tornadoes.
Worst storms, floods, heavy rain fall in the last 2 decades.
Billions spent on reconstruction
Thousands lost their homes and are STILL living on shelters

And that’s nor all! It’s happening all over the world more and more frequent..

Now you come here with all your BS that global warming is a hoax, just because "uuuuh I’m tooo afraid to pay more taxeeeez", "uUUUh my liberties"

How bad are we for trying to save others huh?
1oz of prevention is worth 2lb of cure
If you don’t know oz = ounces, and lb = pounds

You people are selfish.
Super Skeptic:
You are joking right?
I really want to believe you’re joking, cause if you’re not. Kill yourself.
coldfuse:
It’s not global warming?
Ok what is it then?
I’ll give the best answer to anyone who can give any suggestions..

How does the number of deaths each year caused by lightning compare to the deaths caused by tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods?

Technorati Tags: , , ,

Natural disasters, god-like activities or a scientific phenomenon, either way it is still a life changing tragedy. Merriam Webster defines tragedy: A serious drama typically describing a conflict between the protagonist and a superior force. What is more tragic than a spontaneous natural disaster happening right beside you, well it definitely beats a death of a neighbour’s dog or a murder down the street. In this case – Man vs. Nature-we are dealing with a much greater force: the simple power of nature. The wrath caused by natural disasters does not only bring drama to one man, but it affects everything and anything in its path. Nothing, not even the intelligence of humankind can stop a tremendous force of natural disasters caused by hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, and floods. The only things we can do is stop, and think of what comes to mind often when regarding natural disasters as they cause the pain of the loss of a loved one, devastation of your life through your only means of shelter, and the emotional pain that it takes to endure a tragedy such as this one. Tragedies such as these are very difficult to handle for many people.

MIDDLE SCHOOL – SCIENCE – CHEMISTRY – FLUIDS

Quick little science question that I really need answered because my parent’s don’t get this kind of stuff.

I’m making a concept map, the center is FLUIDS and then I branched off to: Human Body, Natural Disasters, Items Around The House, Automobiles and Nature.

Then, we have to find at least six examples of each, and I am so stumped. So could anyone help me with some examples of them??

EXTRA INFO – What I Have Already:

Human Body: Saliva,Air-in lungs,Blood,Liquids in the stomach…

Natural Disasters: Volcano,Tsunami,Floods,Tornado,Hurricane…

Items Around the House: Vacuum,Hot air in drier…

Automobiles: Gasoline,Oil,Windshield washer fluid…

Nature: Bodies of water,Air all around,Liquids in plants + trees…

*Anything at all will be great! Thanks in advance.*

I usually never ask for homework help, but we were just searching on the internet anyways, so it isn’t cheating at all.

Sorry this is a little long..
Please anyone..? =/

With the recent fierce weather being in the news, I’ve been looking at various survival kits for earthquakes/tornados/hurricanes/floods, etc. (No, I don’t expect all of those to come at me at once.)

I was wondering what people recommend? Buying your own? Is there a particular brand that you like? What do you do with the various supplies in there when they near their expiration date? Eat them? Donate them?

My family’s always tended toward buying in bulk so we always have plenty on hand for whatever reason. What do you do?

Since the results of terrorist attacks, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, floods, fires, etc; are:

Prewarnings
Fear
Run and/or take shelter
Lost Property
Unplanned Injuries
Unplanned Fatalities
Lost Money
Lost Credibility
Lost Memories
Rescue Efforts
Recovery Efforts
Salvaging through rubble
Cleaning up after someone/something else’s actions
Rebuilding/Relocating
Re-Establishing;

Should the National Agencies that deal with Terrorism be involved with the PreWarnings through the Re-Establishings??
"Are tornados fighting for freedom?"?

YES!!

Tornados seek refuge from the sky and mountains and anything that would dissipate them!!
Source: Mother Nature.
mb37;

Definition of terrorism: 1; The act of terrorizing OR the STATE of BEING TERRORIZED. 2; Unlawful acts of violence committed in an attempt to overthrow a government. 3;A system of government that rules by intimidation.

Definition of terror: 1; An overwhelming impulse of fear; extreme fright or dread. 2; A person OR THING that causes extreme fear. 3; ‘informal’; An intolerable nuiscence.

I really believe that tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, fires, collisions, tsunamis, avalanches, explosions, etc; that provoke unplanned fears and cause undue damages fits all the dictionary definitions.

Source: Funk & Wagnalls Standard Desktop Dictionary.

Your definitions are definitely there, also.
Climber;

So you agree that the Department of Homeland Security is a "lame duck’ agency? Per what you stated, the CIA and FBI does all the criminal stuff, FEMA and Local Agencies does all the natural disaster stuff, and Homeland Security is left with "twiddling their thumbs"?

Hurricane Katrina had FEMA, the National Guard, and additional Federal Agencies pulling a majority of the items listed!!

I have to disagree with your assessments of my questions, because I’ve seen too many natural disasters take more lives on our homeland soils than the military troop losses on a yearly basis, even through the Iraq War.

I believe all disasters are terrorizing, on different levels, sure, but all are terrorizing. Citizen Fatalaties to failed building structure frames, is a major injustice, especially when every other technology is modern, and the entire construction industry is using centuries-old technology to protect us with!! THAT"S SCARY, TERRORIZING, AND DESTRUCTIVE; INTOLERANT!!
Here’s my BEEF:

EVERY object and product in and on you/our buildings is modern technology:

Paint-Modern
Carpeting-Modern
Cabinets-Modern
Appliances-Modern
Plumbing Fixtures-Modern
Plumbing Piping-Modern
Roof Coverings-Modern

Televisions-Modern
Intercoms-Modern
Cookware-Modern
Washer/Dryers-Modern
Trash Compactors-Modern

Building Frame Systems-4,500-5,000 years old technology!! The shelter and protections for all these modern technology products is as old as the first ever constructed building!! I’m a lucid dreamer and over the past few weeks I’ve been having alot of dreams about destruction. Dreams with elements such as tornados and floods and buildings collapsing. In all these dreams I just narrowly escape and seek shelter but I have to watch on while people I know are engulfed by these disasters. I haven’t involved myself in changing the course of these dreams so I could see where they would go on there own. I can provide more detailed information about these dreams if neccessary for a proper interpretation.

Based on news reports after fires, floods, earthquakes, tornados, etc., the survivors seem to think so.

If so, God is responsible for the deaths too.

So, why did God kill 250,000 people in the Asian tsunami?
Mashu: if death is not a bad thing, then why is it cited as a divine punishment throughout the Bible?
the witness: what about Thailand (Buddhist and Christian), India (Hindu, Christian), Sri Lanka (Buddhist). It wasn’t just Aceh that got hit!
