Often I dream about evacuating, usually due to a flood, thunderstorms, even a tornado which doesn’t make sense. What doesn’t change is what I take with me. My pets, pictures, food, and always as I’m leaving it shows the diary I’ve had for 8 years laying on the ground and I always get it, even if the water’s coming in, or the twister is pulling apart the house.

What might this mean?

I think I asked this question last year and some said it was just going in cycles like always. However, in the last six months Oklahoma has had an extreme blizzard that closed almost everything down, a series of damaging tornadoes all over the state in one week, a hailstone, and now a record-breaking flood (more than 11 inches yesterday in some areas around Oklahoma City.) I am wondering what else we have to deal with. The tornado damage hasn’t been repaired yet, nor all of the hail damage, now floods.

No one can predict a natural disaster or world crisis. When a hurricane or flood or a pandemic strikes a country, who is most likely to respond first? Which economic system is the best solution to handling a crisis of epic proportion?

What advantages might a socialist system have in responding to the needs of people struck by an emergency situation like the earthquake that occurred in Haiti in January, 2010?

When disasters hit an area, the cost of everything seems to go up immediately: food, water, housing, gas and so forth. Explain why this phenomenon may be a good thing, using the laws of supply and demand to explain your answer.

List your references according to APA guidelines in the space below. You are required to use at least one outside source to support your viewpoint, and this source can be the textbook.

I am a woman. My husband and I have been married for a little more than 9 years. He’s 32, and I’m 29. We have been together in all for close to 12 years. In that time, we have seen a lot of problems…we’ve seen life and the complications in me being pregnant 3 times, death with two of our four children (two were twins), nature’s destruction in flood and tornado, and financial problems the whole time.

I don’t know if my husband doesn’t love me anymore, or if he’s just frustrated or angry. He isn’t really mean or abusive, but more like a jerk to pretty much everyone…me and our two kids, even. He is a huge procrastinator; always has been, but it seems much worse in the last 3 years or so. He doesn’t really financially take care of us even though he works (we get help from my mom), and laughs when I talk about getting a job. I don’t have the best work history. I work very hard when I do work, but my problems with anxiety and dealing with people get to me, so I don’t keep a job for very long…about 3 months is all I can work before anxiety attacks make me quit working; employers aren’t too kind to the attacks (and I don’t blame them…they shouldn’t have to deal with it). He never remembers or says anything on birthdays -mine or our kids, anniversaries, or holidays. He’s judgmental of everyone he sees, be it in real life or on TV. He tells me about other women he thinks are attractive…almost always they are on TV.

I wish I could say he has an alcohol or drug problem to justify his lack of attention, but I can’t. He doesn’t drink and doesn’t do drugs. He doesn’t play video games. He doesn’t hang out with friends. He doesn’t leave the house if he’s off work except to run up to the gas station, and he’s back in 10 minutes. I’m confident he’s not cheating.

I am not a very warm and affectionate person; never have been very affectionate. However, his procrastination, lack of taking care of himself, and lack of concern for our kids and me has completely turned me off to him romantically. He, on the other hand, used to be very romantic. He wrote me poetry, made candle light dinners, and even wanted to cuddle. He makes absolutely no effort anymore. He will sometimes ask if I want to "get sticky" (have sex)…which just annoys me and takes away any thought of doing that I might have had. We have only had it 3 times in the last year. It seems to take too much effort for him to try for us to be together.

I have no clue… he says he’s not depressed or angry or anything like that. I know that things have not been easy. I’m not without my own faults, and I accept and try to work around them. I have never cheated on him in the whole time we’ve been together since 1998. I just can’t shake the feeling that he’s only here because he either feels like he can’t make it on his own or that he’s staying out of commitment. Neither have anything to do with love.

Does he still love me? If you were this way to your wife, what would it mean?
Just to clarify, our children that passed away was in 2001.

Well I’m in Belleville Michigan (Wayne county), and we’re getting flood and tornado warnings. Well all of my family is since we all live in Milan, Plymouth, and cities around that. I was just wondering if you were getting storms, warnings or anything like that, wherever you are. I understand if I don’t get a lot of answers because most people are taking cover. Please no rude comments, I’m just curious and wondering if that is happening to states around Michigan. And if you are getting any bad weather, I hope you get through it safely, as well as your friends and family.

Please understand, I am in no way an alarmist nor raise my voice to steer anyone in the incorrect direction, but I see something that has recently occurred that has me really concern in the short and long term sense.
The most recent oil rig disaster in the Gulf off the American coast seems to be looked upon in a blasé fashion. What I mean is doesn’t you the citizens of the world know what the true short and long term ramifications of what is occurring, what is going to happen because of the incompetence of one of the worlds biggest greed mongers.
People who have gone out to help with the clean up, the fishermen, shrimpers, and Joe American found themselves becoming extremely sick, that they were told that they needed to wear hazmat suits while doing the clean up of bacteria ridden oil that has been trapped in the earth for millions of years.
Don’t you realize that within 9 to 14 months this oil spill, I mean the continuous oil flood will have circumnavigated the earth in some form or the other carrying God only knows what new diseases that have been trapped for millions of years, propagating, multiplying and morphing in the stew pot of protein the oceans has to offer as one giant Petri dish; bacteria that very well could have been the very device that could have wiped out the dinosaurs. Bacteria that could be easily be spread much quicker inland by just one hurricane and across the globe, and you have BP who seems not to know their [jack] a-ss from a hole in the ground, is in solo control of this mess?????
You may think, we pump oil out of the ground all over the earth and nothing has happened yet; yes this is true but the difference is that the oil is in a closed system, and is kept under wraps all through its processes of breaking it down [cracking] into the products we all use. People get sick when exposed to crude oil really sick and cases of cancer in the short term have been documented from the date of contact.
We b itch and complain and point our fingers at the government for its lack of action while BP hides behind policies that have been put in place by those who protect big business rather it be Democrat or Republican, when we all throughout this planet need to stand up and I mean stand up now and protest in masses about this whole mess. Brother and Sisters put aside your indifferences and make your voice heard. To quote an old line in a movie, we damn mad and we ain’t going to take it anymore. Pick up the phone; go on line, walk, drive or bike to the local political parties or officials and voice you anger. Boycott BP; don’t buy gasoline or any other product from them, send them a clear and undisputable that we as the human race will not supply your coffers with the fodder your greedy corporation feeds upon until this mess is 100% taken care of , then watch how fast it gets fixed.
Heck, take a few of those fat cat BP executives and shoot them into the well head that should quickly plug it up.
Voice your positive or negative concerns, all answers will be appreciated; don’t delay act now or parish in the future.
Hey apeman605 eat chit and die. Oops, I spelled that wrong, but you get the message or are that ignorant?

My husband and I are planning on moving to Texas, somewhere north of Houston. How’s the weather? I know it’s very humid, but how about tornado and hurricane threats? How often do they occur? Also I know it depends on where exactly we move, but generally how bad does it flood?

ive recently been trying to find some old movies i used to watch back when i was around 3-6 (im 15 now). i have very vague memories of them and im trying to piece together their story lines so i can try and find them but im having a bit of trouble :P

i already found one that i was looking for, there just two more.

(dont mind the little, probably useless details i might throw in)

the first one was half animation and half real people, at the beginning there was a kid riding a bike, i think it was yellow, and there were some kids jumping their bikes off a ramp, it starts to rain and the kid takes shelter in a library, something happens and then hes inside a book or something, which is now animated. i cant remember the middle part of the movie but at the end there is some big tornado-like thing made of books and some kinda blue light, and he gets sucked into it and hes back to where he was in the library as a real person, then he goes outside and jumps the bike ramp, or something, im not too sure, he might have jumped the bike ramp at the start :/ and i think at some point while hes out the front of the library a street light blows up or something >.< i cant remember.

the second movie i really think is a lost cause, all i can remember is that at the beginning theres a kid in a house, it might be real life people, it might be animated, i know the middle and end parts of the movie is animated, but i dont know if the start is, but anyway some kids in his house and it starts raining or something happens and theres a flood in the house, the kid is transformed into a little animal and they chill in the house or something for a bit, theres a bunch of other animals there too, but somewhere in the middle i think they go into a city, and then at the end there is some big storm and i think a rooster dies and is brought back to life in the middle of the storm, thats all i can remember >.<

thanks for your time and any details on the movies im trying to remember would be helpful, even little memories you might have of them, thank you again ^_^
no luck yet sorry >.<
ROCK A DOODLE!!! OMG XD thank you so much!!!
page master, yup thats it :D thank chuu

Topic: Natural Disasters

Directions:

Read the following paragraph and write a composition as stated in about 300 words. Your composition will be graded according to clarity, accuracy and meaningfulness.

A natural disaster is the effect of a natural hazard (e.g. flood, drought, tornado, volcano eruption, earthquake, typhoon, tsunami, or landslide) that affects the environment, and brings financial, environmental and human losses. We can see many natural disasters occurring at home and abroad recently, huge damage have been made either to the environment or to our human lives. Those natural disasters urge us to reconsider our beliefs and behavior toward our mother nature when we seek for clothes, food, and sheltering etc.

Therefore, what is your attitude toward the natural disasters? What shall we do to prevent us from being simply destroyed? What kind of role did we play in the causes of those dreadful disasters? Your writing ought to contain three parts, your viewpoint, the supporting ideas, and the conclusion.

I NEED AN ESSAY,NOT OPINION OR SOMETHING LIKE INTRUDOCTION. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? THANKS!

How good are livestock at predicting bad weather?

I mean, it was pouring rain earlier, and my horses didn’t give a crock. Now, it’s not raining, but we have a tornado watch for my county, and those surrounding…

When my horses were put away to eat (My dad did the chores today, but I usually take care of feeding and everything), they were really upset, and were running around. I could hear my neighbor’s cattle going crazy as I walked my dog. They can be loud on occasion, but it didn’t sound like their normal mooing. They sounded upset.
The horses kept it up for a while, so I went down there to look around, in case they could hear some wild dogs, or something. Nothing. They calmed down, and I stayed there for a little bit, petting them. I can’t see that they’re running around anymore.

Do you think that they sense something coming?

And if it switches to Warning, what should I do with them? Right now, they’re in their pasture that goes up against the barn, where there’s a run in attached to the barn, so they have that shelter. And, it’s kind of down in it’s own little valley…

Makes me want to move back to Arizona. Never had to deal with tornadoes. Or rain.
I’m in Kentucky, which isn’t in Tornado Valley, but a tornado did hit my town before years ago… And a couple of tornados have touched down in Kentucky since I’ve moved here a year ago. Nothing too major, though.

The cynical part of me says that they’re overdue.

My yard is large, 25 acres and fenced, so I could let them loose into my yard, do you think that would be big enough?

But the good news is, the whole storm looks like it’s moving off, though it looks like it’s going to skim southern Indiana.

Sorry, Meagan. Didn’t mean to give you my storm. :/
No, wait. The map says it’s moving east and a bit north. Even though the counties east of me have lost their warnings…?

I’m confused now.
Well, they canceled the tornado watch.

Still stupid flood advisories, though.

Please don’t mention California. And if you want mention other natural disasters that ocurr in a certain state that will avoid me move over there. Hurricanes are fine, I have been through them all and survived.
***Massive tornadoes, flood and earthquakes that have destroyed houses. Like mention the states were it most happens. If it happens in every state then I’ll state in this shithole and stay poor.
And yes I live outside of the U.S. I am looking for a good nest to live in.

Of all natural disasters that could possibly occur, which would you be most frightened to be in the heart of, and why?

Would knowing that you’re in the heart of a 9.0 earthquake terrify you? Would being with 5 miles of a major errupting volcano horrify you? How about living on the ocean side during an enormous tsunami? Witnessing an F5 Tornado in the middle of a city? Living near a major mountain during an avalanche? How about living in the heart of a flood, and as you go out your door, the water from the flood rushes inside your house?
