Of all natural disasters that could possibly occur, which would you be most frightened to be in the heart of, and why?

Would knowing that you’re in the heart of a 9.0 earthquake terrify you? Would being with 5 miles of a major errupting volcano horrify you? How about living on the ocean side during an enormous tsunami? Witnessing an F5 Tornado in the middle of a city? Living near a major mountain during an avalanche? How about living in the heart of a flood, and as you go out your door, the water from the flood rushes inside your house?

"While reports vary, as many as 40 percent of small businesses do not
reopen after a major disaster like a flood, tornado or earthquake. These
shuttered businesses were unprepared for a disaster; they had no plan or
backup systems.
When you start to develop your disaster plan,
consider three subjects: human resources, physical resources and
business continuity. Think about how a disaster could affect your
employees, customers and workplace. Think about how you could
continue doing business if the area around your facility is closed or
streets are impassable. Think about what you would need to serve your
customers even if your facility is closed."

If you had to evacuate your home due to a natural disaster (hurricane, tornado, flood, earthquake, etc), or a man-made disaster (chemical spill, fire, gas leak, terrorist attack, etc), what would you do with your pets? Most emergency shelters make NO provisions for pets! You can’t bring a large dog, or multiple dogs just anywhere. You’d have to find another safe place for them. Many dogs were totally abandoned during Hurricane Katrina. Would your pets get abandoned if you was forced to evacuate your home?

Do you have a plan to evacuate your home, with your family and your dogs in an emergency? Do you know somebody (in another area) who could temporarily house your dogs during a disaster? Would you be willing to offer temporary housing to a friend’s dogs, or a family member’s dogs? What arrangements have you made? What would you do?

At the very least, I hope that a question like this would provoke some serious thought. Once distaster strikes, it’s too late.
Another question … Do you have an emergency kit (food, water, supplies, medications, etc) for your dog(s)? If you and your pets had to leave your home in an emergency, you’d need one. What’s in your kit?

This is a recurring nightmare I have had for at least 15 years. I know it is hard for anyone to interpret it exactly, but I would really like to know what other people think about it.

I am usually on an island, either driving or in a beach home. A terrible storm approaches and the entire island is quickly flooded. In addition to the ocean floods, there are usually several to many tornadoes swarming around. As the sky gets darker and darker, the water rises slowly to the point where I cannot escape. I panic and try to run/swim to safety but I am unable to. Before me I see many other people also drowning and cannot do anything to help them or myself. Sometimes I am with a loved one and they also drown. Then, horrifyingly, I sometimes even die myself in my dream or at least I think I die because everything just simply goes black and then I wake up. Variations of this dream may simply have the tornadoes and no flood, and instead of dying I just witness total destruction around me.

Ideas?

Would you take the time to put them in their car seat, hold them tight in the passenger seat of the vehicle or in the back….or call an ambulance even if your insurance didn’t cover it and it was over 3,000 bucks?

I guess this is a weird question…I just read another question where people said to take them to the ER.

I think I would probably hold her tight just because the hospital is only 2 lights down from our house. But, if I were away from home, I would just call the ambulance.

Also, do you mommies have a plan for the family in case you were separated during a crisis (flood, tornado, hurricane)? Where would you meet up?

We would meet up at the football stadium.

I live in earthquake country in California and near the San Andreas fault :) and as a result i have been through a lot of earthquakes even a few floods growing up. My question is why do people who live in Earthquake country or hurricane or tornado alley especially like florida & the gulf coast always act supervised when their hit by a natural which ever disaster fits the area? I mean if you live in Hurricane alley you have to expect and accept that there is a chance a hurricane will affect you in some way potentially greatly. Most have to have insurance be it flood or earthquake or hurricane. I just don’t get why people always seem or act supervised that a hurricane put a tree through their house or flooding on the coasts after a hurricane may have done damage to your house that the hurricane the hurricane had skipped. What’s the saying if you play with fire you’re bound to get burned? I accept that one day there will be a big earthquake bigger then the 7.3 in 1987 or any in LA and I accept that there might be a miracle flooding because of faulty levees or global warming or whatever. I don’t mean to sound cold but if you live below sea level surrounded by water you’re going to flood sooner or later yet we bury our heads until it happens & then are shocked. I just don’t get it….Slamming your hand in a car door is funny but hurts which is why I try not to do it it just boggles my mind how shocked & suprised people are about things they know ahead time are possible. Same goes with investing be it the stock market or houses its a risk any time anywhere & whatever reason you do it & yes the potential gains are often good but there’s still some risk & people accept it invest or buy and then the economy or housing market tanks or the company goes bankrupt or has a health scare & boom the investment backfired. There’s risk. I ….beyond me ….why do we over look things burying our heads in the sand & why are we suprised when it happens?

F5 tornado.
Super volcanic erruption.

I’m leaving out earthquake since it is an occurence there. I want to add other natural disasters and see what kind of devastation they will produce there.

This dream is recurring, I am either in an open field during a terrible storm and I begin seeing tornados form, many of them maybe 10-20. Then I try to start warning, helping the people around me… OR, I am at the beach and the tornados come, then a flood, and I am trying to save myself and others I am with. But I try to save things important to me before I evacuate like pictures, important documents, etc. Once I even died or blacked out in the flood dream. Any help?

Gimme some ideas. Flood, 11.0 earthquake, meteor crash, big ice storm, cat 5 hurricane, F5 tornado, tsunami, supervolcano, alien invasion, nuclear accident, etc. Throw me a bone here. I usually roll the dice, but I’d like you humans to participate. How would you like to be naturally disastered?

When food, fuel, power are scarce and expensive. When the sea water will rise between 7 to 43 meter. When hurricane, tornadoes, flood and drought will increase in intensity and reduce our habitat and food supply to a dangerous level. When population increase to 9 Billion. What do we need to do? and Would we able to do something about it or it is no longer humanly possible to correct? Read Luke 21 about the sign of the coming of the Creator for Overhaul job of the earth.

Isn’t house insurance only about 0 per month? What is covered? (like city crazy arsonist guy? TVs and computers? or just the structure? just curious!)

What does house insurance do? I’ve heard horror stories from Hurricane Katrina that the victims were homeless the house not rebuilt, etc etc. Am I required to buy this house ins? Hopefully, flood should not be a concern (high ground, on a hill?) but maybe tornadoes or high winds and storms? sometimes.

I live in Michigan! Am I required by law to have this house insur?

Does it cost less to have house insurance in the city? Or more?

We are trying to decide between rural living (where we grew up, familiar favorite hometowns) and city life (we could potentially get free college tuition for our child.). but… we love forests chickens and stuff. (can’t have that in the city.) Also, in the city we could ride the bus and not have the expense of a car. We are poor, but we kinda want a car. We could visit Lake Michigan or go camping up north. Maybe the car thing is irrelevant, but I know in the city we would not buy one. and just hope that Grandpa takes us camping or something.

PS. The crazy city arsonist is only hitting the Appartment buildings here. but just in theory, any crazy arsonist f(NOT ME!) could target my house….

Over the years, I’ve heard myself saying, ‘I’ll take California’s earthquakes over tornadoes and hurricanes…at least I know if I die I my carcass won’t be blown into another state or something…’

Alright, here’s a chance to sound-off about which one scares you the least and which one scares you the most. Be sure to state the area or region that you live in.

Choices: Hurricane, Tsunami, Earthquake, Fire, Tornado, Volcano, Flood, Blizzards or whatever else you can think of.

disaster like a flood or tornado? A bunch of my friends and I were discussing high school and our year books and one friend said everything from her childhood was lost in a house fire. I felt bad for her. All her photos and things that meant so much to her. She is the second person I’ve met whose home were destroyed.

How about close calls too?

I was looking for life insurance just in case. I found a company that will give me million at a month. So while I know the basics on how it works. If a month for say 30 years doesn’t come close to million yet if or when I die my beneficarary should get like million dollars. So how is it that the insurance companies make repeated profits. I know they have other things like auto, renters, hurricane, tornado, earthquake, even kidnapping, as well as home, flood, fire, & other policies that help offset life insurance policies still it seems hard to believe how they make money let alone time & time again & often large amounts. It seems like they either do well or not & again obviously those based on nature mostly but still my question is how do they actually make their money?
Like I said call me dumb thanks all the answers were very helpful.
Oh its funny the place I saw the ad offer the same amount to someone at 70 for 96 amount for up to 30 years. So assuming they lived to 30 which even these days isnt promised the most they likely would pay is 0k premieme wise but their family will benefit almost 4 times that … Funny how the business of insurance works I guess. So simple yet at times seems so complicated.

Im looking for a homeowners insurance policy that will cover everything and with no deductable. We just bought a house, and im looking for a better policy. I live paycheck to paycheck and dont save a dime of money, it all goes to bills or payments. I would never be able to afford a deductable. Im looking for a policy that will cover every method of loss from flood to alien invasion to tornadoes to fire to war. If a storm hits and frys my toaster, i want it completely covered with no out of pocket loss. If a tree hits our roof I want it completely covered with no deductable and no questions about how it happened. I am very tightly stretched with money and my entire lifestyle and state of life is riding on no unexpected emergency events that leave us with a loss. So now that you know what im looking for does anyone have any reccomendations?

I thought of this question while ago while doing homework. What are you suppose to do? During a flood, you are suppose to go to a high place, but during a tornado, you are suppose to lock yourself in a basement or tornado shelter. So what can you do besides dying?

Natural Disaster (of any kind) WITHOUT AUDIO/SOUND. I have to be able to download it. Not just view it on youtube.

I am having zero luck with this, length is irrelevant. I just need decent footage of any natural disaster without sound.

Tornado, hurricane, tsunami, mudslide, flood….etc.

Obviously the video as clear as possible but I can work with most anything.

Even just a website would be great.
