A F5 tornado, category 5 hurricane, a massive flood, or a volcanic erruption equaling that of the Novarupta erruption?

Of all natural disasters that could possibly occur, which would you be most frightened to be in the heart of, and why?

Would knowing that you’re in the heart of a 9.0 earthquake terrify you? Would being with 5 miles of a major errupting volcano horrify you? How about living on the ocean side during an enormous tsunami? Witnessing an F5 Tornado in the middle of a city? Living near a major mountain during an avalanche? How about living in the heart of a flood, and as you go out your door, the water from the flood rushes inside your house?

If a nuclear device was detonated in the center of a F5 tornado or the strongest of current hurricanes, would the implosion nullifly the kinetic energy of the winds and appear as a normal explosion, or would it somehow change the look and effects (strength, temperature, etc.) of the nuclear device uppon the explosion?

they said it would be a breath a fresh air. Unfortunately for them, the Republican breath of fresh are was an F5 tornado that just blew their convention right off the MSM.

Well, was born and raised in New York until I was 10 and the moved to Altanta and then went back to New York for 2 years and then back to Altanta, since then I never wnet back. Recently, I nearly escaped a tornado in Atlanta and Atlanta rarely gets those types storms espically where it hit in March of this year where it got the GA Dome (where my shift just ended 15 minutes before), I was really scared because I had to ride public transportation and all. Coming from New York or up north period, that was scary so I just wanted to know what would the rest of the northerners do if some where like New York, Maine and Etc and a F5 tornado?

I can’t believe it has been 10 years since that awful day. I will never forget it as long as I live. It was one of the worst F5 tornado’s ever.

I’m making a documentary movie for youtube of the deadliest tornado outbreak of history of the may 3 1999 oklahoma tornado outbreak. The tornado outbreak of may 3 1999 had an F5 tornado that reached winds of 319 MPH which is the strongest. A lot of people died from that terrible supercell storm and i want to make something to tribute to those who are victims. It’s not an sketch comedy film but an drama film that i expect to be approximate of 45 minutes. I will try to have big youtube stars like shane dawson, dave days, lisa nova and ryan higa from nigahiga along with some of my friends, the youtube stars i’m still trying to contact them and only one replied and said yes. Could anyone please tell me where can i get information on this biggest tornado outbreak ? Also, where could i find clips of an F5 tornado so i could put into my movie ? Could anyone please help me out ?

I read somewhere that an F5 tornado destroys anything in its path right down to the ground…………..

but I saw on the weather channel show, "It could happen tomorrow," they were doing a scenario where a powerful f4/f5 tornado hits downtown Chicago. They said if it hits tall skyscrapers like the Sears Tower, it would shadder the windows, but the buidling itself would remain standing. They said if you’re inside the building and can’t make it to the bottom floor, you might be safe taking cover in the middle of the building on an upper floor, and you might live to tell about it.

That surprises me cause it contradicts what I read; i thought a powerful tornado of that maginitude would destroy anything in its path including a big skyscraper.

So which is true? Would it destroy the skyscraper? or would the skyscraper remain standing if it was hit by hit?

An f5 tornado with winds over 300 mph? Keep in mind the Abrams weighs 69 tons. However it has a alot of flat sides that would be taking the wind head on…..would the tank be pushed around at all?

My opinion is that the twister would push it a little bit (f4 tornado +) but couldnt lift it high enough to cause real damage.
Also, I would imagine debris wouldn’t be a problem at all because of the armor
good thought
but the train cars provide a much larger and boxier profile for the wind than an abrams tank.
oh damn ill have to use my tank for other purposes
interesting nick, I suppose that if tanks were airtight they might explode in this situation but I dont think they are. Plus, I dont think the drop in pressure would be enough to "explode" a hardened vehicle like a tank. A ford escort, sure, but not an Abrams lol

Has anyone been in or heard of anyone who has been in a Tornado while living in a third story apartment? If so, where is the safest place to go? I’ve been told the bath tub or the most center part of the apartment like a closet or hallway, but if an F5 Tornado is ripping the place to pieces, how much is that tub gonna help me? Am I screwed? Just kidding, but seriously, any advice. I’m in Irving Texas and we’ve been having some bad weather lately. Just wanted to get some extra info so I don’t look completely clueless when I have to get me and my Wife to a safe place.

There was a show on I’m thinking Discovery, TLC, …. it was a documentary type show, a few years ago (maybe 5 or less) following EMT’s and they happened to be filming on a day when an F5 tornado hit the town they were in. From what I can remember, it seemed as if the EMT’s had to evacuate to a gas station or something. It was a very dramatic program/real life…

If I were fiming a cat.5 gurricane or an F5 tornado? What would be the maximum penalty if I keep filming if they tell me not to. I’m 16 in Manatee county, FL.
Don’t we have the right to film since one of the amendments is freedom of the press and media. Doesn’t filming these storms count as media. Would I get a fine or arrested or community service? What would be the charge? Sources?

Gimme some ideas. Flood, 11.0 earthquake, meteor crash, big ice storm, cat 5 hurricane, F5 tornado, tsunami, supervolcano, alien invasion, nuclear accident, etc. Throw me a bone here. I usually roll the dice, but I’d like you humans to participate. How would you like to be naturally disastered?

I know it sounds crazy but say there was an F5 tornado coming and it was huge in distance too. Even strong buildings aren’t going to make it and lying in a ditch that thing will suck you up. So if there were no real underground shelters would the underground sewers be a good option or would you get electrocuted or drown?Serious question! People have been in them, like workers so it’s not all water down there. So would it be a place to go to survive since it underground and away from the storm?

And now that hes decided its the Govts job to protect people from the weather that is typical to thier regions how long til he extends that protection to Florida. And while hes at it could he come here to Tornado Alley and promise to protect us from an F5 tornado. And then I would be really impressed if he could go to California and promise to protect them from a 9.9 Earthquake. And if he could do something about the ice storms in the midwest while hes not busy Id love that. Those crops are almost as important as New Orleans casinos and strip clubs. Is he making these promises to divert attention from the one thing he will never work to protect us from? Yes Im talking about terrorism. More people died on 911 than all US natural disasters. But thats no reason to work to make us safer from that real threat. I mean we all know its way more popular to stand around a bunch of flooded houses making false promises to those desparate people. Its called Band Wagoning Obama, and its insulting.
"If the government which has our money doesn’t do this, who will? Don’t be ridiculous!"
Perfect answer commielib. Except you failed to identify the cost to improving these levves to withstand a category five storm and whether or not that cost is justified when compared to the needs of some much of the countries infrastructure. Or maybe we should spend all our money on New Orleans Levees and then we can all just move in there and be safe?

I need protective gear which will keep my camcorder safe in a category 5 hurricane and an F5 tornado. I also want to be able to have the LCD screen open while I film, and I don’t want the protective gear to cover the lens because I want the best and clearest footage I can get. My camcorder is a Sony and the model number is DCR-TRV 830. Do you need the model number? I live in Manatee county. Any stores close by? How about online?
Also protection for possible hail from tornadoes.

I keep hearing to get in a ditch, when no shelter is available. Is any depression in the landscape better than nothing? I was told that in an F5 tornado, nothing survives, unless underground.
I’m talking about a lying down position in the ditch…thanks
