After the F5 tornado struck Joplin, MO on May 22, my husband, one year old daughter, and myself (then 9mths pregnant) found ourselves searching the market for a new home. By then end of June, we had found the perfect home. Our loan officer assured us that maintaining a loan would not be an issue. After 6 long weeks and much misinformation on what we needed to do in order to get our scores where they needed to be, he finally asked us for a check to cover credit reports he ran and referred us to someone who might be able to help. It turns out he could not get our creditors to erase the house and 2 vehicles lost in the tornado from our credit reports and advised us not to pay our debts completely. Shame on us for allowing him 6wks to provide this poor information. When we contacted our bank of choice to try and apply for the loan, we were notified in 2 days that we were approved upon the conditions that all debts were paid in full – getting our creditors to cooperate by removing our previous home and car loans wasn’t even an issue. Our next step was the home inspection. It revealed a few things we were uncomfortable with. Our buyer’s agent informed us that our previous loan officer caused us to miss our inspection date. From what I understand, this means that anything coming up in the report would not be the responsibility of the seller. Bummer – we really don’t want to spend the extra 00 for repairs needed. Then, less than a week later, after our closing is scheduled, we are contacted by our agent who has just found out from the seller’s agent that the current homeowner is married, trying to sell it as if she’s single. Therefore, the contract we’ve already agreed upon has to be approved by and signed by the husband. Unfortunately, this will push our closing date back yet another 4 days. Mind you, we’ve been in the contract process for nearly 60 days now. The homeowner is refusing any repairs that came up necessary in the inspection, she has failed to complete a rennovation project she had sarted and "promised" to have finished before the sale, she has managed to patch several holes in the walls (hidden by wall hangings upon our first home tour) and not bother to texture or paint the surfaces, and even removed shower heads from the bathrooms. At this point, we are so fed up with her lies, her unwillingness to follow through with any type of repairs (or monetary compensation for them), and the idea that everytime we view the home, it’s condition gets a little worse. Is there any way we can get out of this contract without penalty? PLEASE HELP! We’d still love the home, but feel as if we’re being treated so terribly by the seller that we’re willing to move on. I believe in good moral principles and treating people with respect and honesty. The seller is obviously not concerned with these standards.

I plan on going to see my mental health physician this week and talking about it. On April 27th my town was rocked by an F5 tornado. I have always had issues with bad weather but this made me go mildly insane (IMO). Now weird things trigger me to stress out (loud noises, trains). I noticed that my dog helps keep menfrom freaking out.
I know that companions are very different from service dogs and are more limited to access. I Aldo am aware that sometimes a physician’s rx for the animal is sufficient. Is there a list of places that allow companions bs service dogs?
I am under the impression that there are classes for these dogs. Where can I take him for classes? I am aware that there are scams about these classes as well.
I just want as much info as I can get before going to the doctor.

A F5 tornado recently wiped through a city that i grew up in. It was 1 of the only non-redneck places in Alabama. I saw pictures of my childhood home, all of the stores, and my school ripped into shreds.
I was shocked when I found out. I wasn’t so mad because I know that nature can be pretty, and ugly as well. How would you react?

Yeah. Trust me. If you want to see redneck in AL, you have to go to a forested very southern or northern part of AL. Tuscaloosa is a great place, with good people.

I’m making a documentary movie for youtube of the deadliest tornado outbreak of history of the may 3 1999 oklahoma tornado outbreak. The tornado outbreak of may 3 1999 had an F5 tornado that reached winds of 319 MPH which is the strongest. A lot of people died from that terrible supercell storm and i want to make something to tribute to those who are victims. Do you live near it? How has it affected you personally?
I live in one of the towns in Iowa experiencing moderate flooding. Two roads in and out of town are closed. The heavy rain has really affected things at my house because our driveway floods and that means getting up when I hear rain. Also, our backyard is saturated, and we have a septic field. It’s meant using the plumbing as little as possible. Showering and flushing is fine, but any more than that isn’t!

Tonight we’re supposed to get even more rain and possible tornadoes. How’s the weather in your town?
My hometown is Des Moines, and the flooding there is supposed to be just as bad, if not worse as 1993, when we lost water for 12 days. Luckily this time the water plant is nowhere near being flooded because they overbuilt the levees. A lot of cities around Central Iowa are getting hit hard, and for me what’s sad is in New Hartford, they were devastated by an F5 tornado two weeks ago, and now they’re pretty much under water. I feel bad for those folks!

Would knowing that you’re in the heart of a 9.0 earthquake terrify you? Would being with 5 miles of a major errupting volcano horrify you? How about living on the ocean side during an enormous tsunami? Witnessing an F5 Tornado in the middle of a city? Living near a major mountain during an avalanche? How about living in the heart of a flood, and as you go out your door, the water from the flood rushes inside your house?

If I were an employee or a customer at a large retailer like walmart and there was a tornado warning (with emergency alert sirens on), is walmart allowed to round me up into the middle of their store when they page a code black and tell everyone to go into the middle of the store. Their managers stand at the front doors and tell you that you cant go outside, they tell you to go to the middle of the store…to me it just seems like a deathwish to go into the middle. I hate to sound morbid but it just seems like it would just make it easier to find the bodies if the store was ripped apart by an F5 tornado.
So legally i think i could do something if I was a customer, however I’m not sure if I were an employee I can do anything if I want to leave the store to escape the impending doom.

I’ve heard it used to describe a good chocolate chip cookie. It’s been worn down to meaninglessness. What word is there now to use to convey something that it could once describe? Apparently the Grand Canyon is no greater than a good cookie now. Kids ruin everything.
