If there is a loving God, why does he permit – much less create – earthquakes, droughts, floods, tornadoes, and other natural disasters which kill thousands of innocent men, women, and children every year?

Earthquakes you have no warning. Tornadoes you have a small warning. Hurricanes you have days warning, although you know more when the storm approaches.

My mom wants to move to Tennessee. she has some teacher friends who retired there that really enjoy it, and a few others that say they are thinking of moving there.

she likes that there are no property taxes, cost of living is lower, and they can get a really nice house for less than what we can get one elsewhere.

I was looking around and a few places seem nice… According to the Neighborhood Scout website that talks about crime in an area… Erin is a safe area with lower crime than where we live now (and where we live now there is almost none.) as is Dover (in middle Tennessee near the Kentucky border)

My main concern though, is natural disasters. Where we live now we don’t get Tornadoes or major floods, or hurricanes or earthquakes.

I know Tennessee is supposedly big for Tornadoes and flooding, and I hear there is a fault line that can cause almost as big of a quake as they’re expecting in California one day. So I don’t know how safe it would be to move there.

Is there a way to find out how many tornadoes, quakes and other natural disasters effect the area a year (especially around Dover/Erin and other parts of the northern half of Tennessee)?

Cause I really am anxious about the idea of moving there if there is a lot of danger from Tornadoes or quakes and such. I have a phobia of tornadoes and quakes especially.

I Finish Book One called The Pacific Disaster, it takes place in 2014 where global warming took it’s chance and stay permanent. But in the book, 900,000 meteorites are target to one straight fault line generating earthquakes and a mega quake wipe out a town off its map generating a tsunami some feet high to obliterate the pacific.

Book Two is going to be One Year later and book title is going to be called The Great Californian Disaster about a Typhoon heading toward California producing tornadoes to destroy Los Angeles and all of the areas surrounding Los Angeles including Hollywood sign being taken off it’s hinges.

Book Three haves a title called the Eruption of Yellowstone and the Cumbre Vieja where somehow a a fault line runs from Yellowstone all the way to the Cumbre Vieja producing quakes on both side eurpting Yellowstone and Cumbre Vieja. Where the Cumbre Vieja partly sinks into the atlantic and generate a tsunami which takes parts of the coast on the Atlantic Side off the maps and Yellowstone ash clouds blocks out the sun but after heavy rainfall in most of the states pushes the ash cloud away and brings back life. This book takes place in 2025.

Book Four is the final book taken in 2042. Where all water receeded and life is back to normal on the atlantic side. This is when an asteroid called Apophis changed course from hitting earth on August 20, 2043 and now hitting earth on Auust 15, 2042. This warning was issued early on May 16, 2042 when people decided to take this warning seriously. The asteroid hits off the coast of Japan creating a tsunami and blocking out the sun. There is going to be an epilouge ten years later where all life is back to normal but there is no sign of the water receeding. The sea levels rose re-shaping many continents and a war, not like any other war is about to begin.

i cant help but wonder, with all the earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, and hurricanes, it really seems like it. plus, its almost june, i live in california, and the sun has come out probably once in the last month. what is up with all this weird weather and natural phenomena?

add to this the constant war and struggle across the globe, the economic crisis every country seems to be in, and it really makes you wonder.

In terms of earthquakes and tornados it seems like we never really get them in Oregon. I think there was one in Redding bu that was just because it’s so close to California and California is dangerouse. The last time we had an earthquake in Linn County was when I was a little girl. And it was so light that I slept through it. And I am 27 now. So Oregon seems like really safe state. What do you think?

People always ask what I want to be when I grow up, but I never know the answer. Even as a child, I remember not having a dream job. I just have NO idea what I want to be. In addition, I am sooo indecisive. I do, however, know my strong points in life…well at the moment. I’m in 10th grade and think I should start considering my future. I want to take advantage of electives at my high school so that I am prepared for college. And I can’t just take every elective there is, so I really do need to figure out what careers are strong possibilities for me. How do I do this? There are several things that I enjoy and have talent in, but none are really a career desire? Or maybe there are just soooo many careers that I just have no idea where to begin. I also want to work towards a well paying job.

Some info about me:
-I play violin, but it’s a hobby. I don’t want to do this for the rest of my life. Just a side thing.
-I love to run, but I definitely just want to do it in spare time. Just for fun.
-I am a fairly good writer with good grammar, and I excel in English class. However, I don’t see myself as an author who writes all day long…
-I am always respectful to people. I never blow up. I am known for my calmness.
-I am learning to speak French. I will be in French 3 this year. I LOVE to travel. But that’s not a career haha.
-I am great at math. It’s not always fun, but I am 2 levels above average. I’ll be taking pre-calc/trig as a 10th grader. So, yeah, in a way, I like math. Science is okay, not my favorite, but it’s fine.
-I am pretty interested in natural disasters. Weird, I know. But I think tsunamis, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc are interesting. I mean, I know they’re horrible and everything. But for some reason, I think they are….well yeah, interesting.
-I am also interested in events/happenings. Whenever I see police with sirens, I always wonder what’s going on.
-I am not a good public speaker at all. Hate speeches, monologues, presentations, performing, all that stuff….
-Always have been a straight A student for every single class. I finish my work with effort and detail no matter how little sleep I get.

Do I try researching all the careers and stuff? It seems like an endless search. How do people pick majors in college anyway? Any help, advice, suggestions on websites or anything would be awesome. Haha. Thanks (:

My dad isn’t a christian but yesterday he was talking about all of these things happenings ie: earthquakes powerful, tornadoes in the weirdest places, birds dieing, worms dieing. And when he was talking about that I immediately thought the book of Revelations in the bible it says that famine, world peace, earth phenominas (pains of the earth like the earthquakes). I think wow, after that conversation about all of this happening ivwent to the bathroom and cried a little just thinking I dont want it happening in my life time I want kids a family I wanna do stuff I wanna grow old. I also find it weird maybe it’s me putting so much into it but I find it odd that Sony pictures PS3, cox cable television (the national outage), and televisions networks have had technical issues. When I was younger i was probably one of the few Christians that was true a Christian I read the bible all the time but I had a special interest with the book of revelations. I have literally read that exact book about 8 times, (I’m 16 years old) but the last 3 years I have really fallen away. I wanna become a true Christian but I just don’t know what’s in my heart. When I was younger I would want the rapture to happen just to see if i was a true Christian but now I don’t want any of it to happen. Is there anything within the last 1000 years that this Same exact thing has happened just so I know it might not be a sign of the end. Like things in history where Stuff like this happened and people felt like the end would be in their time but in wasn’t? I am a skeptical person to all the 2012 crap, but the book of revelations and the bible I believe truly.
I literally haven’t been this scared for a while.

To move to California? I mean yea we get the occasional 1.3 magnitude tiny quakes like once in a full moon but its nothing compared to hurricane seasons, tornadoes, etc…. I mean its pretty rare in California and even if we do get the occasional earthquakes its pretty small like a 4.0

I am thinking about going to college in Washington, but I’m not sure how the weather is….i know it rains… a lot, but I don’t mind the rain. I’m more concerned with snow (EW!), natural disasters (earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.) A friend told me that they don’t get hurricanes out there because the water in the pacific is too warm…is this true? Any info about weather in Washington state is appreciated :) Thanks in advance to everyone :)

I can understand why people die in earthquakes, because they can’t predict when one is about to happen. But why do people die in tornadoes and hurricanes when there are warning systems and places that you can go to for shelter to keep safe? I understand not everyone has a safe place to hide but I’m sure a majority of people do? I’m very sad to hear of all these deaths from these tornadoes… it seems like it could be prevented so easily with adequate warning..

Earthquakes, tornados, fires, robberys, anything one has not experinced may think it could never happen to him/her. Unprotected sex with consequences is certainly another. People often feel, "It would never happen to me, i could never get HIV. There forfore, i will have unprotected sex." That was my life the whole time i was sexually active. I am a 28 year old heterosexual male that has slepted with ALOT of women. I had some instances when a condom was not used. I had those thoughts that since i dont have sex with men, i am not at risk. 2.5 years ago i had unprotected sexual intercourse with a female. My friends told me afterward that she’s had alot of partners including a herion addict! I was totally freaked out. My friend told me to go get tested. From 2006 till this year i was too scared to get tested. Each day i would think about it and i would get depressed. I just assumed i am HIV positive and was too scared to be told that by a Doctor. I would often wonder how much longer do i have to live. I would see couples around my age and i would feel so down, because i assumed since i have hiv, no girl would want a releaionship with me. Then… later on in 2006 i was able to forget about what had happend and move on.

Then, one month ago, in one of my classes i saw a video of a woman giving a speech regarding HIV and i began to have flashbacks. And i begun researching hiv all over the internet. I even called an hiv hotline and was finally convinced that getting tested is the right thing to do. The guy said to me "Its your life." Its better for me to find out now if i was positive than to end up in the hospital very sick till death. HIV can be managed. Its not a death sentence. I was so scared that i immedealty went to the health department and got tested. When i was waiting for the results in 15 minutes, i was assuming i was positive and knew i got what i deserved for reckless behavior and would have to deal with it. I was scared. When i was called in by the nurse to get the results, i was walking into the examining room, she immdiatly said "Your results are negative." I was so releaved!!! I couldn’t belive it!! I feel like a new person!! All though i still am dumbfounded that i am negative, considering i’ve had unprotected sex with 6 women.. i know it is guilt and one day i will learn to let it go.
I want to say is… Wear a condom each and every time. If u had unprotected sexual intercourse with someone of unknown status, get tested. Please remember, it isnt the end of the world if the test is positive. HIV is managable. Please get tested if u had a risky incident. Dont be afriad, i was able to do it! I know you can to!! God bless!!!

As we all know, Alabama, which has a long history of racial harmony, and tolerance toward everyone regarding diffent pigmyntation and different religions, sexual orientations, etc is the very epidemy of what every state dreams of being. Why did God ( the Only God – the Christian God ) allow this to happen to Alabama? Why don’t we ever hear of earthquakes hurricanes or tornadoes hitting Godless lib states like California?

hey i am currently 16 years old. PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE THING..I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE THAT :(
i feel like i am grown up but i certainly do not feel like i know everything. actually i feel like i know absolutely NOTHING about this world.
throgh the internet, i researched many things about life and dreams spiritual worlds and stuff and it all seems very confusing.
i am a christian and i really do believe in God and that i will one day return to him. i have done research of other religions and they all interest me.
I am wondering what will really happen when i die? should i really be scared of dying or should i just live life without worrying about it..
how can i not worry about dying when it can happen at any second? it really scares me how so many people die when they least suspect it…from babies to the elderly, they just die…
its really sad to me and i want to live life until i am very old.
Many questions just linger in my head and i feel like they will never be answered…
i do not know the right person to ask my questions to, so i just keep them to myself.
i have also rad about astral projection and it really really interested me. If i can do an out of body experience, then what does life on earth mean??
if life is an illusion, then whats next?!?!?!?
to me, it seems like earth is falling apart. all i hear about these days are earthquakes, tsunamis, tornados, floods, hurricanes, and much more. I believe that something will happen on 2012 but i dont know what (obviously…any ideas?)
even though i am still a teen and have a lot more to endure, what do i have to look forward to?
all i read about in papers are bad things and the itnernet doesnt help….
i have so much life ahead of me and i want to explore many things, but it scares me that i might be cut short one of these days…

I am in the middle of writing a book. It’s about a place called Haven City, which is on an Island. It’s going to take place in the future. But I am not saying exactly when in the future. So people in every time can read my story and feel like that’s what life might be, or was like at some point in time.

People on the island are all genetically engineered, because recessive traits are really rare in this time; and people (scientists) want to keep these traits around for a long time. Blue, green, gray, light brown eyes are really rare outside of the island. Also Blonde, and light brown hair colors.

With all of the genetic engineering going on, there are some people who turn out looking like monsters, and or having super powers. The government doesn’t like these ”creatures”, and put them in camps. After a few years the ”creatures” die off. But some of the genetically enhanced people are born with powers, which develop when they hit puberty, some of them don’t even know that they have powers.

The genetically enhanced people with super powers keep their powers secret; but after a few years the government figures out they have powers, and take them away to ”take tests”. (They aren’t taking tests, they’re killing them. It’s just a COVER UP.) After some time the government decides to kill of all of the genetically enhanced people. Since they can’t send everyone to concentration camps, because people outside of the island will get suspicious, they use earthquakes, hurricanes, lightning, tornadoes, and freak accidents, to kill them. (It takes place in the future so scientist can control weather.)

My story starts before the first earthquake. My character, Jonzey and people on the island, don’t know about the ”creatures” and that the government wants to kill them, or that they can control "mother nature".
Since the main character doesn’t know all this, the reader will find this out as the character does, later on in the story.

My character does have a power, two actually. He can shoot some kind of energy/fire ball out of his hands. He doesn’t know he has this power until later in the book. He can also absorb other peoples powers, but he figures this out towards the way end of the book. He is going to use this power more often in the second book.

It sounds kind of like X-men, but it’s not. OK?

My story’s going to have action, suspense, thrill, adventure, and even some romance…
…But mostly action.

Don’t worry about my story sounding generic. I am very creative. I’ve been told it’s similar to some books, or that it’s been done. I am not trying to copy anyone, I am writing from my own imagination.
It’s going to be really original. Every thing in my story will be, trust me.
Sometimes books might sound the same; but that’s because it’s like a genre, or a sub-genre. Some video games seem similar to another video game. Some movies seem similar to other movies. It’s not copying

Oh. I forgot to say. My story has great dialogged so far. And there isn’t implausible junk in my story, that is just in a story for the sake of entertainment. It doesn’t have lazy writing is what I mean.

I always got the highest score when ever I had to do a free write. And when I read one of my stories in class everyone listened and payed attention. So I think I can write interesting stories.

Sometimes books might sound the same; but that’s because it’s like a genre, or a sub-genre. Some video games seem similar to other video game. Some movies seem similar to other movies. It’s not copying.
Here is a little preview of my story…

Jonzey looked at Haven City from the quiet solitude of his train compartment, sipping a cup of bitter coffee, waiting for the train to depart from the platform. As he watched the city, tiny details began to catch his eyes; the buildings catching the rays of the orange sunset, and the glistening water crashing against the grainy beach.

The train abruptly started to move, and he watched as the city started to drift away. While he was enjoying the sunset in the horizon, he thought of what people might be like outside of Haven City. Would they be the way they were on TV or movies? Would they be materialistic and only focus on appearances? Would they have so many surgeries done to their bodies and faces that they lack facial expression?

Jonzey’s mood inexplicably changed, he tapped his foot uncontrollably, unable to stop. There was an icy cold spot in the bottom of his stomach, making him feel nervous. The cold spot in his stomach started to grow,
… until he was shivering all around. He didn’t know why he felt so awkward; it was like he could sense some catastrophe about to happen. He couldn’t take it anymore. He stood up, placed his coffee on the arm rest, and started to walk to the bathroom.

Without warning the train started to shake, making Jonzey lose his balance. Desperate, he grasped the rail above his head, but a violent shudder flung him towards his seat. He tried to sit straight, but it was impossible. The train tossed him in the air repeatedly. He could feel his heart hammering against his ribcage.

Suddenly the train plummeted into the lower level of the freeway. The sound of crunching steel and shattering glass exploded in his ears as the train made contact with the concrete. His head smashed against something hard. Everything went dark.

Jonzey started to regain consciousness. He kept his eyes closed. His sense of hearing seemed to be enhanced; he was able to hear the water underneath the train tracks, and the s
… sounds of seagulls fling above the ocean. He slowly opened his eyes, and was able to see that he was face down on the train’s doors. The train had fallen into a slanted position, with one end on the lower freeway level, and the other on the middle level.

He gently rolled to his back. He hadn’t hurt himself much, just a few minor cuts and bruises. Jonzey placed his left arm on his stomach, and with his right hand rubbed his forehead. His head was killing him; it felt like someone had hit his head with a crow bar.

From this position, Jonzey observed the train wreck and took it all in. It was unreal, almost like a dream. There was broken glass everywhere. Some of the lights had ripped out of the ceiling and hung from cables.

The light from outside indicated it was morning. How long had he been unconscious?

I WAS USING THIS TO SAVE MY STORY IDEA. OKAY? I WOULD HAVE EMAILED IT TOM MYSELF, BUT THIS SEEMS BETTER… IDUNNO.

So I was on youtube and looking up some things about Sims…and I came across Sims 2 Seasons and there were videos about tornados and earthquakes in the Sims 2 Seasons. There was also a tornado Siren in one of the videos. Is that real or did someone edit it into the video?

There are many many tornado there ?
Ohio, Texas, Louisiana does not have earthquakes like California, but there are many twisters.
Is it better not to live there. I could lose many things from twisters. house, cars, computers, cloth,

Obviously this question is not asking anyone to "predict" a natural disaster – LOL. I’m asking about what natural disasters are common to specific regions of Mallorca. I’ve been googling Mallorca, but I haven’t found what I’m looking for. Since it is an island, I was wondering if it was at risk for hurricanes or tsunamis around the coast. (Hopefully not – I’m thinking about moving there.) Does anyone know? And if there is a risk of a disaster, what would be the safest region to live on the island? The mountains, perhaps? If the mtns are safer, which mountain range would you recommend? I realize a natural disaster can strike anywhere, but some areas are obviously more prone than others. Google hasn’t helped, so maybe someone who knows the Mallorca area can. . .

For example, Florida, USA is quite prone to hurricanes."Tornado Valley" is the nickname for the midwestern states more prone to tornados: Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota – although tornadoes do occur in other States with more fatalities. The top 3 States with most earthquakes are (no surprise) Alaska, California, Hawaii. Tsunamis tend to occur where earth AND lake-quakes are possible, (This is usually near a coastline.)

Since I live here, I am familiar with the natural disasters common in certain regions of the USA, but I’m not as familiar with Mallorca. That is why I’ve posted this question for someone who is knowledgeable about the weather patterns in the various regions of Mallorca.

Thanks in advance!
