Just hearing about Irene brought back memories of Ivan in 2004 D:
I remember….I was on the couch watching tv…and my dad was checking outside on how it was looking…I was little,and a bit scared…but now since I’m an amateure storm chaser,i feel a little scared,yet excited at the same time….If any of you were in the path of Ivan,you oughtta know what i’m talking about…but anyway,It was a tropical storm when it tore through good ol’ North Carolina here,I had to sleep in the living room when it happened,it was so scary! the power went out,the sky was red D: the thunder was deafening,the lightning was bright,the rain was so loud,and the wind was so strong it bent the forest behind my house so back that you could see the interstate so clearly behind that! as soon as it passed,the power was out for 2 freaking days! the next day after it had come and gone,we went outside to see the damage…we had down power lines,mulitple car wrecks on the interstate,fallen trees,shackles from the roof scattered all over the yard,and a peace of a roof from a house I didn’t even know!!! At least our neighbores were kind enough to share their generator but dear God,I will never forget that monster of a storm,I still remember every second of that night and probably will for the rest of my life…we got hit by many other tropical storms after that,but that was the worst one! (not to mention a reported tornado in my area >.>…) whoever was in the path of Ivan,feel free to share your story !

Hello Mums and dads!

Okay, i have a lovely 1 yr old daughter and she has become a little tornado!
During the day, she is under the care of my aunt ( not an old one ) there : i know , everybody love her to bits and i guess maybe this is why she has become a spoiled one. Everyday my uncle is buying her things or fruits etc etc and my cousin plays doll etc with her … always having the full attention she wants, My auntie, always by her side morning till afternoon….

SLEEP: recently she will not go to sleep even if drop dead tired and sleepy! she will fight her sleep and would play round the house, run here and there but would not be very joyful ( i guess due to her sleepiness). If i try to pick her up to sleep : she knows her room and knows when its dark and if i will start singing to her : she knows its sleep time and will start crying out loud and wont stop untill i let her go!!! this scares me and im super tired myself to allow her remain awake till 23hrs!! she usually sleeps at 20.30hrs max!! WHAT do i do? WHAT is worng with her?

BEHAVIOUR : Well, she is my princess yet i think she needs discipline. Or am i being a bad mum?
i mean, she knows what NO means but still when i tell her a firm NO , she just bends down her head and then will smile and then will scratch or pinch or bite or hit me!!!! She is SUPER active and always doing things which can hurt her : so when i say no, she cries out loud as if i have hit her!!!! Im scarred!!! Sometimes she really can be quiet, playing with her dolls or writting or reading with her dad…. I love this little tutti frutti girl!!!

DURING SLEEP: over one month i have realised that she has started to talk in her sleep…. sometimes funny to listen to but sometimes scarry because she i will move round the bed while still asleep and crying… im scared to wake her up and she wont go back to sleep..

I badly need advice because she is my only little princess and her dad love her to bits as well.
Please only good advise : nonsense comments/ troll / hurtful advise will all be reported!!!!

Alright, here goes..
My best friend and I have been fwb on and off for nearly a decade now, never sleeping together when we’re in a relationship but have maintained a very close friendship. We concieved a child together last June who is now just turning 3 months old. We both have 2 children from previous relationships that are around the same age, and I am now back with the father of my other 2. My husband to be treats our son as if he’s his own(he knows otherwise) and is probably the best father in the world to all 3 of the kids. I still speak to my friend, and I believe he wants to be a part of our sons life but feels awkward about the situation. He hasn’t seen our son since we had a dna test done 2 1/2 months ago, but stays in contact with me. I don’t want him to wait until it’s too late for our son to know him as his Dad if that’s what he wants to be to him. I send him pictures via text and very rarely get a response, I know he feels guilty, I know he’s confused, and I know he’s stressed out right now. (We live in a city that just got wiped out by a tornado, he lost his job and quite a bit of self esteem, and is also expecting his first grandchild) I’ve already told him I don’t want money from him for child support(I make enough money to take care of the kids), that what’s important to me is that he have a role in our childs life, emotional support is far more important to me then money. To the question now that you have the back story..
I bought him a card for fathers day. I buy him cards for holidays most of the time, but this one is obviously quite a bit different as we have a child together now. I want to write something in it that will make him really sit down and think about what it means to be a father, and what it means to our son. I haven’t been able to find a quote that does it for me yet. Any ideas?

today we had a celebration at school which required us to dress up and he saw me in my dress and he looked at me a couple of times and yeah. he kept looking at me and when i turned around i felt his eyes on me. when my dad took a picture with my friends he didnt look back at me and he sometimes he would look back at me. when the celebration started he didnt look at me that much. why? what should i do? pleasee help me!

Today my crush kept looking at me and everything. here and then we would make eye contact. When we went to one of my classes that we havent had in a long time me and him started talking. when my teacher signed something for me and said good luck his head shot right up and he said what and he kept looking at me and copying what i was doing. when i said something about torandoes and that they are intresting he said yeah were is that paper on tornadoes and etc. then when a guy kept bothering me my crush said hey are you guys going out and i was like no !! and he smiled. he kept doing that because he knows that it would annoy me and he kept looking at me and i felt like he was going to scare me like what he used to do. he wanted to know why me and that other guy were talking and yeah. he kept looking at me. everytime he asked if me and the other guy were going out he would be serious and when his friend came he said me and that other guy should go out. but gave a weak smile. what does this mean? what should i do?

My dad isn’t a christian but yesterday he was talking about all of these things happenings ie: earthquakes powerful, tornadoes in the weirdest places, birds dieing, worms dieing. And when he was talking about that I immediately thought the book of Revelations in the bible it says that famine, world peace, earth phenominas (pains of the earth like the earthquakes). I think wow, after that conversation about all of this happening ivwent to the bathroom and cried a little just thinking I dont want it happening in my life time I want kids a family I wanna do stuff I wanna grow old. I also find it weird maybe it’s me putting so much into it but I find it odd that Sony pictures PS3, cox cable television (the national outage), and televisions networks have had technical issues. When I was younger i was probably one of the few Christians that was true a Christian I read the bible all the time but I had a special interest with the book of revelations. I have literally read that exact book about 8 times, (I’m 16 years old) but the last 3 years I have really fallen away. I wanna become a true Christian but I just don’t know what’s in my heart. When I was younger I would want the rapture to happen just to see if i was a true Christian but now I don’t want any of it to happen. Is there anything within the last 1000 years that this Same exact thing has happened just so I know it might not be a sign of the end. Like things in history where Stuff like this happened and people felt like the end would be in their time but in wasn’t? I am a skeptical person to all the 2012 crap, but the book of revelations and the bible I believe truly.
I literally haven’t been this scared for a while.

I bought my dad a Redcat Tornado S30 Nitro Buggy. I am new to the nitro/gas powered rc cars but we had a problem with the Engine. Its brand new, pull string snapped and engine froze. I sent it to a hobby shop and they told me that the sleeve inside the engine was messed up and that the piston could not move freely up and down. So they told me the sleeve needed to be replaced.. i sent the engine back (im in California, the shop is in Arizona). They have sent out the engine again and this is what he told me…

SH .18 Engine(Engine has large amount of mechanical pinch but checks fine, heated engine with heat gun and fired up fine and ran fine, customer needs to complete break in process, Highly recommend using heat gun or blow-dryer to heat engine before trying to start, returning engine to customer.) SEE CHRIS FOR ENGINE.

What is mechanical pinch? Maybe an RC hobbyist could help me out here too..
the new engine started and died almost instantly… due to im assuming not revving the engine during first start up and it got to hot?

This storm front or whatever that caused the tornadoes in Arkansas is headed northeast. Everyone in its path should be careful. I’m a little worried because there is a pocket just north of me in Ohio that is known for its tornadoes.

These storms/tornadoes have already caused major devastation. My dad is a "storm watcher," so I’m sure he’ll be tracking this so I won’t have to. I’ve heard we’re just going to get strong storms, and then I’ve heard there are definitely more major tornadoes expected so I don’t know what to think. I hope everyone is keeping an eye on it.

We had a tornado come through our neighborhood and have some damage, although not at bad as one street over from us which was pretty much demolished. We had trees uprooted and land on the corner of our house, half our fence destroyed, and other minor damage. We took pictures of everything. The insurance adjuster came out for an inspection, but the trees were still on the house so some of the damage wasn’t visible. He told me to take pictures after the tree came off, get estimates, and email him all the information. He also said that because the tree is on our house, if a local company came by and offered to remove it and the price seemed reasonable, to go ahead. Well, we had a company take the tree out. It was actually three trees (insurance is counting it as one) that grew out of the same root system (two birches and an oak) and we were charged accordingly. We’ve also had estimates done for the fence and roof. The fence estimate was okay with our insurance, but they have problems with the roof and the cost of the tree/stump removals. My cousin and uncle own a tree removal company in another state, so when we heard the price for removing ours I called them and they both said it was a fair price. We went ahead with it. As for the roof, after the tree came off we found a few shingles missing, some with damage, a gutter that was destroyed, a hole in our siding, the cap on our chimney was ripped off, a joist broken, soffet (sp?) damage, and trim pieces missing. (There may be more, but I can’t think of anything off the top of my head.) Our roof estimate includes all of those things being repaired/replaced, plus labor costs. Now our insurance doesn’t wait to pay for the trees or roof because they think its too much money. We’ve had three estimates done for the roof, but they were for more money and didn’t include repairing/replacing all of the things I have listed above. My dad, a roofer, thought the estimates were reasonable. What do I do now? Get more estimates? Take less money from insurance and wait until my husband gets back (he’s Army) to have him do the work himself?
My dad thought the estimates I got were reasonable, not the insurance estimate. And he won’t be doing the work on the house for me because he lives too far away and absolutely hates to travel…he’s never been more than three hours from his house, ever.
Also, the debris removal max is 0, but that is for taking out the stump and moving the debris to the curb (or to our backyard for firewood in our case). Insurance pays separately to get the tree off the house and fence, which is where a majority of the cost came from. They had difficulties doing their job without causing more damage to the house and fence, which is why it cost as much as it did. The same company that did our removal also did three of our neighbors, and I’ve talked to them and none have had issues with insurance over it. Our insurance, though, is threatening to call the attorney general on them (probably a crock of sh!t). Alright, I’m done now.

Hey!Okay so I am 13 and I live in tornado valley basically and we Are ALWAYS getting hit by tornadoes/severe weather.Well guess what?-They are calling for severe weather late tonight and tomorrow.Everytime a storm comes;I feel like I have panic attacks and my parents say to stop it or else(haha)anyway;How can I be prepared for this and get over my fear and actually be able to NOT have a stomach ache Everytime a storm comes.Oh and my family has a Storm shelter and the whole it is in was dug by my dad so that makes me feel even worse!Please help

Once i was at my cottage and a large tornado was coming our way. My dad saw it while he was fishing and quickly came running to the cottage to get us into the car. Luckily we survived and i was only 5 when this happened.

Last night I had a nightmare. I call it a nightmare because I was scared by it, in fact, I’m scared to go to sleep because of this dream. From what I remember, I was at my house & there was a tornado coming towards it so I tried to take shelter in my kitchen but went outside the back door instead where I ended up in an alley. A giant tornado roared right by me in the alley only a few feet away from me. Then I remember me & a bunch of people from my school were at this giant building in a city & the building had halls like a maze sort of. I felt like we were safe but one part of the building was missing so I saw a news lady doing a news report & there was a giant tornado heading towards her & I told her & she turned around & started screaming. I felt scared too & when I looked behind me or anywhere there was a window, there was a giant tornado heading towards me. My gym teacher came up to me & told me to run, so I ran around the building warning everyone in my school so they ran out of the building screaming & by the time they got out of the building, it was night time & there was nothing left but rain. So they all got mad at me & left me alone basically to die & telling me I’m a liar & a bitch & that they hoped the next tornado would come for me. So they all left except me. So the city was completley empty & the wind started to pick up so I picked up the phone & called my dad scared & crying cuz I heard something that sounded like another tornado so I called him up & told him to come fast & hurry before I die. So then he didn’t come fast enough & I ran back into the building which was completley empty & took shelter in the bathroom. I then heard something behind the window, but it wasn’t a tornado, but one of the English teachers at my school. She was outside in the rain talking to me, & then I woke up. But it was some scary shit. Try being chased by TORNADOES! A BUNCH OF THEM. Why did I have this dream about a giant tornado outbreak & being abandoned to die?

Last night I dreamed that I was at a grocery store with my mom. We leave the store and then begin to walk by a gym that has lots of windows. We both see the guy I was in-love with doing some sort of leg exercise. I’m frightened by seeing him again, but also a little thrilled.

My mom and I then get in the car with this one guy (my dad’s dream friend) and he precedes to drive in circles around the parking lot, which has mysteriously gone empty, in front of the gym. He continues this until the guy I was-love with leaves the gym. After which these cars start chasing us.

Dream switches, I’m ending a tennis practice (at courts I’ve never seen before) GIWILW (guy I was in-love with) is there too and is looking at me with a very soft expression. My mom is already there to pick me up and the three of us walk into the tennis shop. My asks him if he liked the practice and he says, yes, because I was there.

My mom then asks the head pro something that I can’t remember while GIWILW and I just walk around the shop, not looking at each other. My mom comes back and tells me it’s time to leave. GIWILW says he should probably go to. I feel sad all of a sudden. He opens the door for us, then asks me in a rush, would you like to hit some time with me?

I stare at him stunned because he’s ignored my asking him that very same question for awhile (in rl). Then after I recover, I reply a simple sure. He then gives me a small smile and heads up a hill away from us and to his car.

I stand there looking after him, wondering why after he has hurt me so many times that I immediatly give into him. I then realize it’s because I love him, always will, and that there is nothing I can do about it.

My mom and I turn to leave and see a massive storm brewing. Like huge, including two tornados. I want to go back inside the shop and hide, but mom wants to head for the car. So we run for the car.

Wind is blowing things around everywhere as we drive and everything looks orange. I keep wanting to pull over and seek shelter (I’m also really concerned about GIWILW), but my refuses, saying she could see just fine.

She then misses I turn and plows us off a hill and into a field of cows. I’m screaming at this point, but she still refuses to stop the car or turn around. Saying there has to be another road up ahead. We then go flying into a ocean (or lake, the world is to fuzzy). I’m freaking out because we’re going to die now.

Miraculously, we manage to stay above water and mom tries to turn the car around so we can get back to land. But a big wave pushes our car further out to sea, along with several cows (lol). Mom finally gets our car turned around when a water spout appears.

I then was woken up. What did my dream mean?

I love storms. They fascinate me. Watching tornadoes from a distance is an awesome experience. As long as it stays away, lol. I live in Oklahoma and was 1 block from the May 3rd tornado you probably heard about, then the other one a few years later took out my dad’s work. Just yesterday we had 65 tornadoes, not just here but all around us. Then today there was one in Oklahoma City right on the turnpike. Isn’t that exciting yet utterly terrifying all the same? Have you ever been close to one, in one, or seen one?

So I had this dream that me and my family were driving to Louisiana and there were these Tornadoes and at first I wasn’t scared for some reason, cause I was like "Oh its just a tornadoes there always in this part of the country. (Lol) And so we kept driving but then we ran outta gas and stopped at this Hotel to stay at. and it was more like a Building/Construction place/hotel. and so we stayed there and ate with different people in the diner. And there were these long walls with long wndows that showed the sky… and outside was like a Field in the middle of no ware.. and out of no were a tornado came in and started trying to suck people in and we were Ducking on the stairs (The stairs led to the big windows, and the tornadoes were just Going thew the glass without breaking and they were coming inside the building and i had to hold on to some people. then the tornadoes took a break.. and we started eating again. and during the break my dad had took a picture of our family and (This is the weird confusing part O.O) So really he was getting sick and stuff because i guess because he wasn’t in the picture and I knew that so i tried to take a picture but all the cameras and phones were broke so i couldn’t take a picture of him so he would live. and he died… then we saw his ghost and we were all happy he was doing ok then after that I saw about 5 tornadoes coming again then we ducked under the stairs again, and then me and my mom (And other people) Started running away On the field to get away from the tornadoes then I asked my mom what about My brother! and she kept running and i looked back and i saw my older brother in the window saying ("Fine Leave me!") and I was so sad.. then I woke up. ….O_O

I had a really horrible dream today. It was fairly longer than usual and i remember it well. I live in California may i add. In this dream, My friend and i where standing in line in what seemed to be an abandoned town or street. I don’t know what we were standing in line for, but we were there for a long time. While i was there i noticed a tornado was coming out way. My friend pointed it out and we went to go hide someplace safe. Then i was trying to look for my cat because i didn’t want her to freak out but she didn’t want to be held. Then my dad came into where we were hiding and said to come out, there’s plenty of adult around, you’ll be safe. So we went outside and there were about a dozen robots that looked like policemen or something. The tornado finally hit us, i was holding on to my dad, and it spun us around. After it past by, there was a sudden change of scenery. we were now on a freeway and i saw a lady that had been blown below by the tornado. My dad mentioned she didn’t want to be found because she threw another lady into acid. Then my dream went back into it’s original setting. I saw my friend, and i went over to hug her and we both started to cry. She then mentioned that she couldn’t paint, she never did. I told her that i beleived she could. Then i woke up.

I didn’t eat anything or do anything different before i went to bed. What could this dream mean?

I was on youtube, and watched a few videos of the cyclone i Myammar. One of the videos showed the route of the cyclone coming from the water. So is hurricanes and cyclone two different words for the same weather phenomena?

If yes, are different words used becuase they happened in different parts of the world &/or becuase the people that live in the region give the weather phenomena that specific name?

Again,this question is a extension of the one listed above,and the one above was asked cause me and my dad got in a argument or misunderstanding about if cyclones and tornadoes are the samething or different things.

1. Cusses in front of their children.
2. Doesn’t do anything if children cuss (age 12, 12, 19)
3. 19 year old sibling slaps a 12 year old for poking him.
4. Dad is racist towards blacks.
5. Punishment = spanking, no grounding.
6. The parents never do anything about physical abuse.
7. Youngest one is being blamed for the computer being broken and the wireless mouse not working, but his twin brother broke the mouse by throwing it. (Btw, I’m the only being blamed.) Parents do not believe me.
8. Dad doesn’t take me or 19 year old brother fishing. If he does, he only puts mosquito spray and sunscreen on my brother, and not me or my brother.
9. Dad doesn’t know one thing about severe weather safety. "Oh that’s in Wisconsin." Few minutes later, tornado sirens go off. He doesn’t do anything.

10. 19 year old brother blames me for stuff, claiming I hit myself. Oh, btw, he records me taking off my clothes to get into the shower, WHICH I just found out, when I looked through MY camera, apparently he’s been using it WITHOUT my permission. The whole family is against me, thinking I am a slut.

Oh, another thing, can someone legally record audio of someone else without their consent? Names are being said. If it’s illegal then what are the consequences?
And is it normal for a 12 year old male, who has just hit puberty, to go commando (Going without underwear) and masturbate?
My dad is deaf. He threatened to call the cops on my 19 year old brother if he brought toilet paper upstairs. He isn’t allowed to poop down here. There isn’t toilet paper upstairs, because last time toilet paper was used, the crappy toilet got clogged.
Dad: "Make sure [the 19 year old] gets to bed at 10:30 or I’ll whip his ass and throw him out"

That’s really unfair, seeing how we BOTH have really good energy.

I had a dream last night that I was round about with my mother, grandmother, and father. It’s quite weird for I found myself to be in two different settings that in real life, are thousands of miles apart. My dream was that I saw a terrible thunder cloud, and it started to have lightning spout out from it. Then all of a sudden, as I was sitting in the office of my mother’s work place, a tornado emerged and I pulled my mother quickly away and all her other assistants away too. I don’t remember how we got shelter, But I do remember that I left her somewhere knowing she was safe and I was comfortable with her safety. I picked up with my father and grandmother and I noticed that I was in some odd city, as to say maybe Chicago, New York City Harbor, or some city like that. I huddled over my grandmother beneath these stairs for a while, as my father stood there watching out. Well, one tornado came as we finally were holding on to a counter top, and it just went through us without us being swept away. The house was sort of moved, but not terribly. Then we were knocked outside, and there were now two tornados. All of a sudden, I think they came together and formed one ginormous one. Us three went and under shelter in a bathroom and somehow we were back outside because I think tornado swept the roof off. We were then running through the city, as I remember huge sky scrapers and work buildings were in the picture. I could see myself running from the tornado and I was swept up, as along with my father and grandmother. After this, I was back to the ground and I assumed my grandmother was dead as I was calling out for my dad. Well, my grandmother came back for me, for which she wasn’t dead, and was crying in tears saying that the tornado crushed my father and killed him. Strange enough, I found myself with mix emotions of depression and hate, but also happy and relieved knowing my father was in heaven, having to be with Christ now.

Anyone know what this could lead to?

I live in south texas and there’s a hurricane coming.
My dad doesn’t want the dog inside our house and I want to protect him from the hurricane.
What should I do?
Do animal shelters allow us to leave them there for some time until the hurricane leaves or what can I do?

Ok so three days ago my garage burned down. A lot of stuff was destroyed, including my grandpa’s car. It sucks because it was one of the only things we had left of him. Luckily, nobody got hurt, but we’ve all had to move out. We can’t move back in for two months. I’ve had to adjust to a lot of things, living in a household with nine people, borrowing clothes from friends, and being treated like a charity case. I really missed my iPod and cell phone. They weren’t damaged, but we had to leave it there for insurance purposes. I was upset because I wanted something to stay normal. Nothing is normal anymore! When I got them back my dad yelled at me and called me selfish. I realized that I was being selfish, a lot of times in fires everything gets destroyed. So I thought about starting a charity to raise money for toys for kids who have been in disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, etc. Insurance companies always take so long to give you money, and you always have to pay for it first anyway. So does it sound like a good idea? Also, how does one start a charity?

I am going to live with my dad soon for about 6 weeks. He lives right on the coast of southern North Carolina (3 minute walk from the ocean). I am a bit worried about what would happen in the case of a hurricane. What can I do to be prepared? I know that my dad and stepmom have the basics like food/water and emergency supplies or whatever but what can I do? I am 17, almost 18 by the way and I will have my own car there. Also, what happens in the case of a hurricane evacuation? Advice from someone who has experienced it? Thanks for your help!
