I live in the Highlands of Scotland, at the moment we are due to get very stormy weather due to ex hurricane katia tomorrow night/Monday morning. I just read on a weather website that katia could also form tornadoes in the uk. I am now very worried! I am 23 and a mum so please don’t make fun of me for worrying for myself & my 4 year old, I have never experienced something like this before! Reasurance would be great. I remember the picture was being built by some old fashion machinery. I was sitting on one the floating pieces that was facing her. Once her face was built she began to speak. She said something about doing something important in a quite voice. I think I was scared at the time not knowing what’s going on. Then the dream went black and went into a nightmare, there was a tornado. It sucked in some house in the middle of no where, almost like the wizard of Oz. And I freaked because some cat got sucked in too. Then I just woke up freaking out! I was freaking out more about the cat though xD I know it sounds stupid but any advice would help thank you (:

What does the american government do about the destroyed houses due to the tornadoes. Do the government pay for new houses? Or are the americans supposed to pay a tax to the government for natural disasters? Sorry, I’m not american so I cannot really understand how americans get by while they have their houses destroyed. How long does it take to start living normally again?

In Nancy drew trail of the twister I have finished the mice thing and put them in the spring house.I went back to the farmhouse, & talked to debbie but she didnt say anything. I live in Kansas & we tend to have quite a bit of tornadoes. I’ve experienced many & I’ve even seen them form in my own backyard. I’ve seen homes destroyed by them & I’ve seen them rip a whole tree from my front yard. Of course, since I’ve experienced so many, tornado safety is second nature to me & I’m more calm than someone who’s less experienced. But I have one especial fear… I’m petrified that my family & I will be asleep while a tornado is nearby late at night. I’m a very heavy sleeper, as well as my brother, sister, & grandparents (I live with them). If those sirens went off, they just wouldn’t be loud enough to wake us all up. I’m so scared that one night, there will be a tornado & I’ll remain asleep. How do I get over this fear? Is there any way to assure my safety? We’re having very severe weather right now & we’re under tornado watch as I type this. Also, there’s been a series of tornadoes in Missouri the past few days, one of which hit Joplin & killed tons of people just yesterday, so you can see why I’m especially worried tonight…

our laundry room is on the ground level, would that be a safe place to take shelter during a tornado ?
I do believe that it is centered.. since our building has 18 apts on 1st, 2nd, & 3rd floors… there is only one laundry room, that we 18 tenants share…our building is the center building with apts that joined on the left and right… it’s small, and there are no widows… so it would be ok to then?

We are in a brick house & I’m trying to figure out which is safer for us to do since there is no storm shelter near by. We are supposed to be getting severe storms soon (all night & tomorrow too) with tornadoes likely. Is it safer for us to be in the hallway (long "L shaped" hall, about 3ft wide with the back door on one end & us at the opposite end, it has 2 bedrooms on each side plus a bathroom) OR there is a small closet at the end of that same hall way (it has a couple of shelves & it is empty but there is just enough room for my 2 small daughters & I to fit (one is 5yrs old almost & the other is 16months) that closet is at the end of the L hall (the back door is on the opposite end) it has another bedroom closet behind it and a bedroom on each side & of course the hall in front (so that would make it a center room even thought its not the center of the house right?) Would we be safer in that closet with pillows over our heads or safer just in the hall if a tornado were to hit? I’m sorry if that was confusing, I was trying to be detailed lol. Thanks! (note: I don’t plan on staying in there all night, we are either gonna camp out in the hall or in the bedroom that’s closest to the closet & if a warning were to come either put my girls in the closet, grab some pillows/blankets off the bed & jump in there with them or just get in the hall with the pillows & blankets.)

To be honest I don’t trust our bathroom. To make a long story short, we actually live in a trailer house but just bought this brick house that needs some work before we move in. The bathroom floor needs replaced. It’s ok to go in there if you need to use the toilet but I wouldn’t want to be in there during a tornado lol. The rest of the house is fine, we just can’t move in yet bc we have to install our whole entire kitchen (cabinets & all) & put in flooring (not subflooring, thats just the bathroom, but actual flooring lol). We just camped out over here @ the brick house bc I know it is way safer than a trailer house…

My family and I live on the very top (3rd) floor of our apartment complex. We feel that the structure is weak because we feel the apartment move when trucks go by (we’re by a highway). Storms in Georgia have recently wiped out top floors of apartments & we’re worried that in the event of a tornado we will meet the same fate. We don’t know anyone in the complex where we can take shelter & the management has no plan of action when it comes to this. Is there anyway to be safe?

Does the city of Houston have any tornado sirens, I lived here all of my life and I never heard one go off when there is a warning, it’s always on tv or the radio. If they don’t have any do you think they should? Sugar Land, Katy, should have one as well since Tornado & Hurricane season are around the corner.

I had the most weirdest and craziest dream yesterday. I had a dream that my state had a severe tornado outbreak and tornado warnings were issued like crazy and tornadoes formed like crazy. I even dreamed that i was some sort of person in the community’s safety team and i drove around helping people from debris while tornadoes formed like crazy and i drove back and forth from the community’s public shelter. I even had a laptop with wireless internet access on the road in my car that provided me with tornado warnings & weather watches updates. What would this kind of dream mean to me ? I do honestly love weather especially weather like thunderstorms and stuff but I’m not studying meteorology I’m studying computer science. What did this dream mean at all to me ? My state in the next 2 days will have a chance of thunderstorms. Would it mean there would be a tornado outbreak ? I don’t understand because it was a very crazy dream.

I’m going to this concert this evening in downtown, in the city where the concert is taking place there is a lot of severe weather & severe thunderstorms happening right now. In fact the weather service has issued a tornado watch until 2am in the morning, it is 2:30pm right now and the show is in 5 hours from now. I’m concered with if they will do anything for safety if they ever issue a tornado warning. The concert is going to be filmed by professional people during the show performance. Would they do anything if the national weather service issues a tornado warning during the live taping or they would just ignore it ? I don’t want to be enjoying the concert with my girlfriend and then dieing because they didn’t do anything.
