So…how hammered did Chicago get?

Tornado Questions
I know the skyscrapers have lightning protection, but is there any major damage from wind and/or hail in the downtown area? I’m trying to get a good estimate of what this bow echo did.
Judging by the severe reports (go to my link), I’d say this was the most powerful storm system I’ve seen in my life.

Yes, there only seems to be two confirmed tornadoes, but the wind and hail makes up for that.

It wasn’t as bad as last August’s MCS that knocked out power to 600,000 in the Chicagoland area. Over all this was a good storm, I wouldn’t be surprised to see another one this month. The sirens did go off downtown I did hear on the news. Oh ya a 5th tornado was confirmed by the NWS.

It was one of the most amazing storms I’ve seen. The sky was bright green with flashing lightining. I was outside when the front came through and we did get some 50 to 60 mph winds where I am in Lombard. There was a storm earlier this summer that seemed a little worse though, at least out west here. The worst storms Chicago’s gotten in my life are blizzards I’d say…

It was pretty amazing, wasn’t it? I wasn’t in Chicago, but I was so intrigued by the bow echo, that I was up late into the night watching it on the radar.
I witnessed the tiny little bow echo that developed into this, but nothing near what the outcome was. Extremely powerful describes it!
Do you know if there were any reports of the tornadoes doing anything? I haven’t heard anything.
I’m glad you lived through this! Did you get hail, wind, anything?
The worst storm- well, there are two. Once when I saw a close to tornado and had to run down the street in complete darkness to a basement and one where you couldn’t see the street because there was only hail. Under the hail was thousands and thousands of leaves. There was nothing on the trees!!!
Hope you’re recovering okay out there!
