There’s nothing wrong with you kiddo
I got the same problem & I’m 31 lol. I think its the suddeness of lightening & the startling of thunder. Twisters you know are dangerous but while they come on fast they’re nowhere near as sudden as lightening. I’ve lived in Colorado where people getting struck is common (some say it’s the altitude) Then I lived in Kansas & Nebraska (lightening & twister heaven) And like you I was scared of twisters somewhat (tho I found them facinating) but lightening???? FORGET IT! lol.
To this day I am very cautious during a storm, I live my life but I’m cautious….don’t think there’s anything wrong with that
Your not odd, you just don’t wanna light up like a neon sign…..ME EITHER! It gets better with age. Hang in there!

Corey –
I’m a storm chaser in the midwest. Lightning does kill a large number of people in the U.S. each year, but this is my philosophy on lightning:
If you see the lightning bolt – it didn’t get you…If you hear the thunder – it didn’t get you…If it does get you – you won’t know it.

I don’t think anything is wrong with you, I chase storms and the scariest part of doing that is the danger of getting hit by lightning, which is usually a much higher probability than being hurt by a tornado. Tornadoes can often be seen and avoided, but lightning usually hits without warning.

It’s nothing wrong with you. Whenever it thunders lightening is right behind. And I have seen too many news reports where people or houses have been struck by lighting. When a storm comes ,I get off the phone, cut off the TV and sit somewhere quietly…maybe read a book or work on my puzzles.

i don’t think anything is wrong with you – part of the reason you’re nervous is because of the experiences you’ve have when you were younger and being in the tornado situation – even if you don’t remember it very well – it’s stuck in your subconcious so you can’t really do anything about it. just chill and try not to think about it – just during a storm, go grab a portable radio and a book and some munchies and go sit and the basment or somewhere safe and just chill
