Safety on the 20th floor during a tornado?
So, last year was the first tornado outbreak near me for as long as I know… I’m guessing with how things are going thus far there will be more to come. I live near Toronto, ON, Canada in a condo on the 20th floor… If something hits again… What do I do… Yeah I hear get down stairs but it’s me, my mom who has knee/hip issues a cat and a dog… Could I really get down fast enough? And when should you take the percaution… When it’s a warning, a watch.. Or is there something more serious than that… I’ve also heared that it’s unlikely to have a tornado touch down in a built up area full of high buildings… Is that true? Last summer was too close for comfort.. If it hits our area again I’m not sure what to do… Please help.

The best thing to do is definitely get to the basement.
Large urban areas do not affect tornadoes. This is demonstrated by the Salt Lake City Tornado.
If you absolutely cannot get to the ground, find a room farthest away from the outside of the building with no windows that has no objects hanging off the ceiling. Bring pillows and blankets, and use them to cover your heads.

Basement is the only way. or you can go to the top floor. Either one works but not in the middle otherwise you will be in an apartment sandwich. Take precaution when it rains-tall buildings always get hit first in tornados. I hope you don’t die now
