Im on a RoyalCaribbean cruise from today to thursday and on tuesday hurricane fay is supposed to hit key west and thats the day that the ship goes to key west. Do you think Royal Caribbean knows what theyre doing or………are we actually going to key west?
Also is a category 1 hurricane like….large?? Because i live in Los Angeles California and have never been in a hurricane, cyclone, tornado, etc.

I take it you’re on the 4 night Western Caribbean on Enchantment, departing from Fort Lauderdale.
What the ship will might end up doing is taking an eastern caribbean, rather than a western caribbean route. By Thursday, it is projected that Fay will no longer be an issue, so you should be arriving in Fort Lauderdale on time.
Have a wonderful trip!

The cruise line is more concerned about the weather than you are – its bad advertising to lose a cruise ship in bad weather. They will either change their course or shorten the cruise.

Category One Hurricane:
Winds 74-95 mph (64-82 kt or 119-153 km/hr). Storm surge generally 4-5 ft above normal. No real damage to building structures. Damage primarily to unanchored mobile homes, shrubbery, and trees. Some damage to poorly constructed signs. Also, some coastal road flooding and minor pier damage. Hurricane Lili of 2002 made landfall on the Louisiana coast as a Category One hurricane. Hurricane Gaston of 2004 was a Category One hurricane that made landfall along the central South Carolina coast.
