My house is a mess. Help!!?
Let me start off by saying, I’m a very organized, clean, neat person when it comes to myself and my job. But for some reson, I can’t seem to bring myself to be like that with my apartment.
My apartment looks like its been raided by the cops, a tornado hit it, and no ones lived there for months.
I’m only 23 but I’ve been living on my own since I was 17. Until the age of 17 I was forced to wake up at 5am every day and clean the house for 2 hours. I’m talking about scrubbing the bathtub with bleach and a toothbrush since the age of 5.
But now, living alone,I just can’t seem to get up and start cleaning. No matter how bad I feel about it and how much I want to change it, I just can’t seem to do it. As soon as I promise myself I will have a weekend of cleaning, I hit the couch and sit there the entire time, almost paralyzed.
I really need to get my home to be the way I picture it.
PLEASE, any suggestions, tips, advice???

I would start just doing one room at a time.
Have a laundry basket around so if you find something that goes into another room, you just put it in the basket.
I always start on one wall and work my way around the room.
Keep the vacuum nearby so when you move something out of the way then you can vacuum under it.
After that room is clean just make sure it stays that way. Whatever you take out, make sure you always put it away when you are done with it. Clean up after yourself right before you go to bed.
It helps to have help. Have someone there to motivate you. Don’t turn on the TV. It takes your attention away from what you are doing.
Make sure you throw things away. People save too many things they do not need.
I don’t think you need to see a therapist. Cleaning is not fun. Who wants to clean?

start doing something small……like sorting through some paperwork or something to that effect….then hopefully the cleaning energy will hit you. When I need to clean and dont want to I start organizing….then for some reason I just cant stop and I end up cleaning the whole house. It also helps it you have a drink….just one or two while your cleaning…….

First, see a therapist you obviously have childhood issues.
Start small, open some large paper grocery bags place several in each room and start discarding rubbish. Take a break, then, clean the kitchen, take another break, then clean the bathroom. Call it quits for the day. Next day clean the rooms in your apartment, vacuum, dust, wash floors, change bed linens maybe even clean the windows. Done for the day.
Next time organize your paper work.
But you do need to see a therapist. The old stuff is spoiling your life now. Time to dump it!

You might want to start out by cleaning little sections at a time and going through things and seeing if you REALLY do use them or if you just keep saying you will. and eventually you will get your house clean butit won’t be a HUGE cleaning day that leaves you smelling like Clorox. I would advise you to start on your bedroom, then bathroom or kitchen, then and type of living room.
And reward yourself everytime clean like a piece of chocolate for every room you clean or ice cream whenever you finish your whole apartment.

Yuuuuck i HATE cleaning my house, i was raised the same dang way…everyone is right small steps….get a friend(cusin/sibling) or two to help out…and start small..one section of one room at a time…music and friends make everything better…and once u see how pretty and clutter free it is you will want to keep it that way all the time…good luck!
