Don’t carry him in, he has to walk in himself to complete the exercise otherwise he didn’t do it and you will lessen the chances that he will.
Put a leash on him and make him walk in, give him pieces of food and shut the door. Also say a command, like "go bed"
Don’t give up, it could take 100 times. Just do it for a few minutes a day and soon he’ll go in without the food.

Just carry him into the cage and quickly shut the door, do this a few times and he will automaticlly go in himself…
All my dogs have the same problem… trust me
GOod luck!

well….when you can FORCE him in and he is in there give him a treat and say good boy/girl. We did it with my dog and she LOVES her kennel now…although she dousn’t get any treats anymore. Once they go in on a regular basis you can stop giving "it" treats. Well hope this works..best of luck. BI

You didn’t mention what kind of dog. If your dog is full grown getting a huge crate may be part of the problem. A crate should only be big enough for the dog to lie down, sit and stand up in. This makes them feel secure. I did not crate train either of my dogs and I have to push them into their crates now when I use them, but they are fine once in there. I too, want to have crates available in case of an emergency. Where I go, my dogs will go too!

You will probably have to put the dog in, but make sure it isn’t too stressful for the dog. Keep the crate visible so the dog can see you and ensure the dog understands it’s not a punishment. Most animals actually like being in confined spaces such as transport cases, but if it’s new it won’t smell very attractive to them. Put favorite toys or pillows, blankets, etc. in the case and treats work well. Don’t put the feed bowls or water in there. Leave the dog in it for extended periods when your not home, after a while they will adjust and may well spend a great deal of time inside it by themselves.
