A homeowners insurance policy will cover damage from wind, as well as other covered perils. There is no seperate "tornado" coverage

there isnt a such thing as tornado insurance seperatley, but if you have house insurance, it comes with insurance for severe weather such as a tornado.

No, because a tornado is just a very strong wind.
So if the house is insured for WIND damage, which is standard on homeowners policies not in the gulf coast area, there is coverage.
In the gulf coast, there's either a seperate wind deductible, or a seperate wind policy you have to buy – but that's for HURRICANE ALLEY.
