I'm absolutely terrified of thunderstorms and tornadoes, how can I cope?
I’m from California and I moved here to western South Dakota quite awhile ago and I never experienced such violent weather! It seems there is a severe thunderstorm warning/tornado watch every week. When the weather forecast says there is a possible chance of severe thunderstorms it completely ruins my whole day and I spend all freakin’ day checking the weather. But whenever a storm does hit I completely panic and run for the basement, the lighting and thunder scares the hell outta me. The high wind gusts petrify me because I keep thinking, "Is that a tornado coming?! What’s that sound? Is that a tornado?!" haha. I can’t be doing this every time it thunderstorms, it’s taking a big toll on me. I have to live here for another year so I need some advice on how to just relax.
Thanks guys :]
Lmao no, taking medication is not my thing.

welcome to the midwest and great plains
after a while you will get used to it
at least here an earthquake is very rare
a storm is great if you have someone to cuddle with
last month where i luve we had watches and warnings each day sometimes twice a day

thats the midwest for you. you’ll get used to it. my family doesnt usually even take cover during tornado warnings, unless things look really bad outside. and by the way, going to the basement is not really necessary for severe thunderstorms, unless there is extremely high winds.
