Okay, i know that there is many predictions that the world is going to end in 2012. But in all seriousness, do they have 100% full proof that it will? I know about the Mayan calender and stuff, but i just can’t picture everything coming to an end. What is the percentage that it WILL end? What is the cause of it ending? Something said that like the earth and the sun will be exactly alined, which means magnetic forces will go crazy and everything will erupt. Like volcanoes, hurricanes, tsunamies, earthquakes, tornados, etc. Can someone give me some answers, i’m actually a little freaked out by this.

ok ok i know this will be hard to understand but what will happen is the magnetic poles will switch and now instead of north pointing to the north…the south will point to the north. thats all that will happen.

Well, I guess you’ve found the right person to answer you question about the world ending. I’ve done lots of research on this 2012 stuff and here’s why it’s all false.
Nothing is going to happen December 21, 2012. I was curious about it too before I did my research and I don’t at all fear it. Also, just in case you have a tiny bit of fear or anxiousness here is why the world won’t end and why December 21, 2012 will be just a regular day.
The theory of the world ending in 2012 isn’t true, it’s just a silly hoax. The world isn’t going to end on December 21, 2012, just the Mayan Calendar ends. One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or 7057.5 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. This is not a prediction of the end of the world. The Mayan Calendar has to end sometime. Besides, nobody can’t predict when the end of the world is. You shouldn’t always believe what you hear from other people. The scientific evidence about 2012 doesn’t go together. Those who spread rumors about 2012 should be punished. You know what is sad, people may commit suicide over this thinking its the end of the world. Or maybe some people would get unwise with their money and spend it all like crazy and be in thousands of dollars in debt, just because they thought the world would end. Then they have to pay it off later and deal with the stress of those bills. That’s why those who spread rumors about 2012 should be punished. You know what else is false about this 2012 garbage?
• Planet X (Nibiru) isn’t going to hit the Earth it doesn’t exist.
• Poles are switching everyday, this isn’t going to happen all in just 1 day. This process takes thousands of years. Throughout geological history there has been may pole switches and life has still survived.
• Also people are saying these poles will switch in one day due to a black hole. That’s NOT true. The nearest black hole to our galaxy is 1600 light years away.
• Sun will be lined up with a sunspot, but it doesn’t mean it will wipe out all life on Earth. One time ago, Earth was lined up with a sunspot and people were on it and everybody didn’t just die.
• There is not going to be catasphoic earthquakes.
• In the Bible there is nothing that says the world will end in 2012. They say they got their proof from Revelation 13 and you see the number 666 and that number is just a number in God’s book that represents human imperfection. So, 3 of those 6′s mean humans are extremely imperfect.
• Just because certain cultures predict it like the Chinese, Japanese and all of them doesn’t mean their predictions are correct. As I said, nobody can predict such a thing.
• No comment will hit Earth.
• We are going to have a rare night sky, nothing more. No asteriods, no comments, etc.
Each time the end the world is predicted. They are always wrong. Here are all the predictions of when the world would end and each time they where wrong. Every year there is a prediction like this. I’m sure that if 2012 doesn’t happen, they will think of something else. Through out history the end has been predicted but has never happened so, whats the point of worrying?
Don’t live your life in fear. Just live your life be sucessful in your life by getting good grades, staying in school, going to college, getting promoted at your job, and achieving lots of goals. Don’t worry about something this silly. It isn’t going to happen! Every few years these silly predictions about the world ending happen. It has happened throughout Human history. Anyways, as from what I just said, you can’t predict the future. What if tommarow were the end? What if tommarow you died in car accident, or something else went wrong which costs your life?

The only point at which we will have 100% proof of the predictions is either when it happens, or at 12:00 midnight, of december 31/january 1 of 2012/2013. Until then, it is all speculation
The one on March 1, 2010 at 11:48 pm
only about 0.000000000099% chance. its not gonna happen till billions of years later…the sun dont blow up until about every million years so dont worry, its not in our lifespan…=P and beside 2012 is when i graduate

chill out, the reason for all the hype is that the Mayan calendar ended in 2012. This is a huge difference from saying the world is going to end. I think that, because the Mayan calendar was created so long ago that they didn’t feel the need to go further into the future. I mean, you have to stop at some point right?
Maeghen on March 1, 2010 at 11:48 pm
I highly doubt the world will come to an end in 2010, but if you really belive it is then LIVE IT UP!
The whole Myan calendar thing is ridiculous. They advanced the calendar 600 years and yeah they just stopped. Think about it, would you keep going with a calendar if you weren’t going to live that long? It would be a waste of time.

we were suppose to die in 2000, we were suppose die because of globle warming ( its freexzing!! im in illinois) we like suppose to die on 8.8.08 and look we are all still alive so we are not going to die. see the mayans had this calender saying like when everone is suppose to die and when the world is going to come to an end. so all the reseachers think we are but we are not.

rofl there is no proof. there are some anomolies though.
1. Mayan Calender of 5,000+ years ends in 2012
2. an asteroid is supposed to pass within a couple thousand miles from earth in 2012
3. the suns magnetic poles are supposed to flip around 2012
4. a NASA scientist said that based on his new math models, Global warming could start an ice age as soon as 2012.
5. A total Solar Eclipse in 2012
6. Earths magnetic poles might flip in 2012 although unclear.

The Mayan calendar thing makes assumptions about the starting point of a period which is bogus. The same apocalyptic nonsense comes around periodically and sells books and papers to the gullible. There is speculation about stuff like this just because people like to make you think they know stuff you don’t know. Again, it is bogus, no validity to the thing.

The chance of the world actually ENDING is zero, period. There is slight probabilities that things will change drastically. All in all, not much is likely to happen. There are several theories and cultures that proposed 2012 as an important date, very few actually saw it as the ‘end of the world.’ For instance, there was a certain group (prior to the mayans) in present day Mexico that saw 2012 as an ‘awakening’ or ‘period of enlightenment’ which has obviously beneficial aspects to it. There is the hoop-la with the poles shifting (which is due to occur in 2012) but this phenomena has happened literally hundreds of times over the history of the earth. It will likely cause temporary disruptions in various technologies (much like the Y2K bug) but will have no long term effects.
Even if the world were to end, there would be absolutely nothing we could do about it, so there really would be no reason to fret, why fear something that cannot be stopped? Enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts, when it’s over, we all will get to see what happens afterward, quite a unique and awe-inspiring opportunity it will be.
For a good read about 2012, get the book ‘Apocalypse 2012′ by L. Joseph, it does a great job summarizing the issue.
