Tornado Questions
My husband and I are planning on moving to Texas, somewhere north of Houston. How’s the weather? I know it’s very humid, but how about tornado and hurricane threats? How often do they occur? Also I know it depends on where exactly we move, but generally how bad does it flood?

The weather is great 9 months out of the year. June, July, and August are very hot and humid, so indoor activities are best this time of year. Of course, everything is air conditioned. Tornadoes are unpredictable, but we have no higher a susceptibility to them than other places. Hurricane season
is May – November every year. Predictions
are for 3.87 big hurricanes to threaten the US coast during the 2008 season. Since you will not be living on the coast, this should not be a major concern for you. The main danger in a hurricane is the storm surge which occurs in areas on or close to the coast. Welcome to Houston!

i live in conroe its about 20 miles north of houston. I have been here for over 15 years and there has only been one toronado that i can remember. even the time a few years ago when they evacuated down south near the coast for the hurricane we were never affected this far north

To the person that said its great 9 months out of the year…..umm its ok for us because we are use to it. But it is very very humid. You dont have to worrie about tornados and Hurricanes are like a normal thing for us. But nothing like Flordia where it takes out everything, if you live in the poor parts of Houston you are screwed because it will flood. Besides that like the joke goes Houston has two seasons Summer and one big ass cold front.

Yes, it’s very very Hot around this time of year, I hate it, i don’t what to advice you.
The thing about it, when I was in Miami and NYC, everyone would come out at night during the hottest months because Miami and NYC has such vibrant night lives, but this town is pretty much dead after midnight and they kick everyone out most clubs and bars around 1 am.
When we were in Miami you could stay in clubs and bars until 6 am in morning, not here.

HOT! Any where in Houston is Africa HOT! Tornado’s not really a big issue, but hurricanes can be a threat. In 2001 there was a huge storm Allison (google it) it flood everythings around the Houston area! OMG Houston always getting flooded, but people here are kinda used to it.
