The last hurricane that passed through were the gas stations equipped with backup generators, were the shelters properly surveyed for proper usage, were inventory made on food and medical supplies that could be made available for use after the disaster passed away. Were the hospital and other emergency establishments equipment with backup generators. We should always be prepared, the season will soon be here again. Just look around you and what do you see?

Areas directly affected hurricanes have Emergency Action Plans and Disaster Preparedness teams. They are well rehearsed in these matters and probably moreso since Katrina.

I live in Arkansas. The worst we get is tornadoes. So, in answer to your question- we are grossly unprepared for a hurricane.

I don’t think Oregon has ever had a tropical hurricane…but we have a number of winter storms each year with winds on the coast in excess of 75 mph.
Are the people out there prepared, yes, they have heavy seas and high winds storms much more often than the gulf coast.
