How do I get a candle out of a glass container?

Hurricane
Ok, Here in DC they told us that we were going to have a hurricane. It did not happen. Anyway, after stocking up on food and supplies in preparation for no electricity, I was going to replace the little candles that I had inside candle glass containers. But everytime I tried to get the candles out, I broke the damn container or just only could get part of the candle out.
How can one get those half used, candles out of the glass holders to replace them with new ones? Any tips? I know this is probably a stupid question, so please no answers that deflate my self esteem. ![]()

In about a minute, the candle will slip right out. While the glass is still hot, wipe it clean with a paper towel to remove any residual wax.

Get a knife and cut the wax in half and scoop it out with a spoon.

If you put them on a cookie sheet and put them in a warm oven that will help you to remove the candle, wax is easier to work with when warm, Use a oven mit to hold them when scrapping out the holders. That is not a stupid question. Either way, it’s a pain in the neck but that’s an easier way. We know hurricane prepardness too. I am in South Carolina.

not a stupid question, there’s no such thing….i always just used a knife and picked at it because i had no electric ever…but you can stick them in the freezer and it should pop right out with a little prodding

Next time, put a little bit of water in the glass containers before you place your candles in them. They’ll slide out of the container much easier.

depending on whether the candle had any metal on it or not (if the wick just runs through the wax, you’re ok, if it has a little metal tab on the bottom, use method two)
Put the glass and candle in the microwave. Heat for 30 seconds. When the wax softens, pull out the candle. Start with 30 seconds–it might take more or less time, depending on the thickness of the glass and the size of the candle.
Run hot water over it until the wax softens, then pull it out.
I’ve even put such an item in the dishwasher to soften stubborn wax (right side up, not upside down).

Yep, put the containers in the freezer for a couple of hours and the candles will pop right out.
The freezer makes the wax hard so it doesn’t stick as well to the glass. Additionally, the wax tends to contract slightly more than the glass does when frozen.

Run the bottom of the glass under very hot water. The heat will loosen the wax, and it should slide right out.

Do not take it out in it’s solid form, heat it. I know you just playing.
