How can anyone support any Democrat for President or Congress?
The Democrats said they had a plan to lower gas prices if elected to Congress in 2006. They got elected and crude oil went from .00 per barrel. to 3.00 (last number I heard).Gasoline went from .17 to (currently) .83 per gallon. Where is this great plan to bring down the cost?
Democrats want to reduce our dependence on imported oil, but will not allow drilling in ANWAR, or off any U.S. coastline. There is enough oil in any one of these areas to supply this country for 30 years without a drop of imported oil. The technology exists to do this with very little, if any negative impact to the environment. Remember that after Hurricanes Katrina, and Rita, 1000 oil rigs were destroyed in the Gulf of Mexico, but not one drop of crude oil leaked out.
Democratic mandates regarding ethanol is also responsible for the increase in food prices.
Also too, history has shown no country has ever taxed itself into prosperity, yet the Democrats answer to everything is raise taxes
I know gasoline prices have gone up during the Bush Administration. Gas prices have gone up since the days of Jimmy Carter. But the prices have "spiked" every day since the Dems took over Congress in 2007. Where is the great plan they had to reduce gas cost?
Of course the Saudi’s laughed at us. Why should they increase production for us when we won’t increase our own production? The Democrats have blocked every serious attempt to relieve dependence on foreign oil now, opting for alternatives that won’t be effective for another 20 years.

I think, in general, people want to be taken care of.
They want their government to do it since it’s less humiliating than moving in with the folks.
The only way to grow government to that kind of size is to tax us all to death.
Dems want large government…they want to tell us all what to do, think, say, wear, spend, save and especially earn.
The Reps want us all to decide for ourselves what works for us and then enable us to go out and get it for ourselves.
As a child, I was always more proud of my own accomplishments, not the ones that were given to me.
I generally don’t support Dems because of this.
That said, I do make up my mind based on every scrap of info I can find on candidates and issues when each election rolls around. I’m not afraid for vote for a Dem if he seems best…just haven’t found one yet…and the she-Dem…no way…absolute worst idea ever spawned.
If I want my mommy to take care of me I’ll go visit her…that one isn’t good enough to pick gum off the bottom of her (my mom’s) shoe.

And the Republicans answer to everything is increase the deficit and pass it on to future generations, rather than be adult and pay our own bills now.

You are so right. Every other word out of obamas mouth is tax.
blondeqtpie13 on August 14, 2010 at 7:03 am
I love it. No matter which party is in the white house, the dems get blamed for everything. Yup. It’s ALL our fault. Every bit of it. Because reps don’t have a vote on anything. Whatever

This war is taking a toll on us. don’t blame the Democrats though they didn’t mess it up.
willbmusic on August 14, 2010 at 7:03 am
people are blinded by what their party promises them. they feel that they are part of a group that "cares" and wants to "change" things for the better, yet they refuse to see the corruption of the past and present within the aprty and refuse to see there is no difference between the reps and the dems anymore. I say lets turn it over to the libertarians and let them have a stab at it.

It’s called a veto.

Because we have had 7 1/2 years of Rep rule and we see what a mess the USA is in.

Sorry, but what rock have you been hiding under during the past 7 years?
Moto-Man on August 14, 2010 at 7:03 am
Don’t forget, the Democrats in congress were going to end the war. LOL

There are those that want things to be different. So they vote for CHANGE regardless of what the changes are. It is a big circle.
Think for Myself on August 14, 2010 at 7:03 am
I am not supporting them at all.
What I don’t get is the fact the neither Rep or Dem can get us off oil? Why not give Detroit a tax free year to invent an all electric car that costs $15K before Japan does? WTH is wrong with all of them? We have electric technology that will proved 125 mpc and 600 hp and 9 second quarter miles. Why not hire them?
Dems? Watch this video. They are all flip-floppers.

"There is enough in any one of these areas to supply this country for 30 years without a drop of imported oil"
that (above) is a complete and total lie.
typical conservative bull-sh*t
I vote Democrat because so much of what conservatives say is totally Un-True (see above lie about oil)

"The Democrats said they had a plan to lower gas prices if elected to Congress in 2006. They got elected and crude oil went from $56.00 per barrel. to $133.00 (last number I heard).Gasoline went from $2.17 to (currently) $3.83 per gallon."
Excellent and overlooked point.
4.04 per gallon for regular unlead this AM.
It is a joke to hear rep. blamed for higher gas prices.
john a on August 14, 2010 at 7:03 am
welcome to the blame game. Todays party is the republicans. they will blame everything on everybody else but never on themselves. Its not their fault the gas prices are high. They will blame everyone but the most powerful guy in the country. Its not Bush’s fault that OPEC laughs at him, Its not his fault oil companies have a monopoly, its not his fault he pushed the American dollar to a all time low. No its congress because he vetoes everything they want.
danrathersdrunkagain on August 14, 2010 at 7:03 am
Somehow, dems want us to believe an additional windfall profits tax on oil companies will make them pay for raking us over the coals at the pump as if we don’t know the taxes will be added to the price of gas. Dems don’t seem to understand that adding more cost will not lower prices. Or maybe they do, but think we don’t.
Judy M on August 14, 2010 at 7:03 am
The Democrats have turned themselves into socialists and anyone who can’t see it is just plain blind. They hide behind environmentalists to stop us from using our own oil while they are parading around talking crap and getting rich from special interest groups. I am starting to believe they want to destroy this country with their nonsense. There is a reason that Congress and the Senate have an approval rating much lower than the White House’s ratings. People will most likely boot the whole whining bunch out of office this November and let’s just hope we elect some new people who will do their jobs. If not, they will get the boot in 4 years too.
Mike F on August 14, 2010 at 7:03 am
Not one drop of oil huh??? 30 years???? I think you need to pull your head out of the sand. We have one party in this country and they are out for themselves, on our dime. More money has gone through their hands in the last 8 years than ever before. This is not a right or left issue, it’s an American issue and we are being sold out and lied to by both parties. Getting us to take sides is only meant to create a distraction and you are falling for it like too many Americans still are, no change coming soon at that rate….
Alexandrov on August 14, 2010 at 7:03 am
Because they are either complete morons, they are being bought with socialistic welfare programs, or they are voting out of jealousy and hate for those in higher classes.
Abraham on August 14, 2010 at 7:03 am
Democrats don’t propose taxing the country into prosperity. They have actually proposed tax cuts for the middle class. They want to raise taxes only on the super-rich, who now pay a lesser percentage of their earnings in taxes than the middle and lower classes.
Maybe the solution to our energy crisis is not only to reduce our dependence on imported oil but to reduce our dependence on ALL oil. Alternative energies — nuclear, wind, solar, hydrogen — all of that. It’s called innovation.
How about Republicans? History has shown no country has ever achieved prosperity by spending six-hundred-billion dollars on a pre-emptive, unjustified war instead of education and science. They’ve allowed the quality of public education to disintegrate and the price of private education to inflate at such an absurd rate that American kids are no longer competitive with the rest of the world. If we can’t innovate, we won’t be prosperous.
Edit: Moto-man, Congressional Democrats couldn’t end the war because they only have a simple majority. The President would obviously veto bills that propose a cut in the war’s funding. He already has, in fact. Learn the mechanics of your government before hurling accusations.
RunLolaRun on August 14, 2010 at 7:03 am
30 year supply?….yeah right!
Jeff O on August 14, 2010 at 7:03 am
Drilling is only a short term solution. Dems want to reduce our dependence completely, while also leaving environmental habitats intact, and without ever having to drill for oil, this means investing in new technologies, and alternative resources. The ethanol push was backed heavily by Bush.
If we drill now, we wil only have the same problems in 30 years. Leaving the those same problems there for our children.
Dems want to keep taxes low for the poor, and repeal tax cuts on those making 6 figures or more.
Remember we had a surplus and low gas prices when Bush went into office, now we have a huge deficit and astounding gas prices.

The democrats whole pyrpose is to weaken the American dollar
