Do you think it is right that humanitarian aid for Hurricane katrina was denied?

For example, Cuba offered to send 1,586 doctors and and at least 26 tons of supplies and equipment, but it was never used.

It’s said that people have to make everything about politics in times that truly matter, where people need help.
Allied countries offered 4 million in cash and in oil that was to be sold for cash. But ONLY million has been used. http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/americas/09/05/katrina.cuba/

No its not right & it shouldn’t be about politics cause god knows we spend boat loads of cash & food stuffs on other country’s every year that are in need. We should be taking some back from the rest of the world & stop spending as much until we fix shit here, i don’t want $1 or a pound of grain going overseas until every kid in America has access to food, clothing a "GOOD" education & some sort of medical or health care. After that we need to feed the needy in our country or homeless & take as much care of them as possible for those who want aid & re-train them for jobs that are currently available in today’s market.
Its time to put the common sense back into politics.

Not to mention the BILLIONS in federal aid an additional BILLIONS in private donations. Maybe we should ask Gov Blanco and Mayor Nagin since, by some miracle, they’re still in charge down there.

That aid was denied by the states governors, not Bush.

Yes I do. I think it would be more wrong to make up lies about it though.

That aid was unnecessary. The initial response to the Hurricane at all levels of government was horrifically inadequate – but not because of unwillingness, but because of incompetence. Those offers were not offers of competence, but offers of things we had plenty of. And those offers were made not so much as humanitarian gestures as political ones to highlight the incompetence of our response. But they were ‘genuine’ offers nonetheless.
So there is nothing ‘wrong’ with saying no thanks to aid you don’t actually need. For a country as rich as ours it would be suspect to accept it.

Yea right – Cuba offered stuff they know we didn’t need in order to score propaganda points.
And you fell for it.
