After all this bad weather,it got me thinking about last month and the weather I had.We had severe storms, the winds reached 85 mph in some areas and gusts were up to 100 MPH on a bridge.At around 7PM our weather issued a Tornado Warning for my town.my family didn’t do anything we just went about our business.Nothing ever came….I thought warnings means a Tornado was spotted…I mean our house did shake for about 5 minutes and there was a strange rumbling sound.But I didn’t see anything.
And something did hit my sister’s house.But other than that, there was nothing but hail,wind and ground lighting.Why would they Issue a warning.It should be a watch.We had a watch, then they upgraded a warning and nothing came.My brother was the only one sitting the hallway, We all told him,their bluffing(Not that this should be something we should say…I already know you should seek shelter when its a warning,but they always bluff down here)
Ugh and speaking of storms, Its starting to get nasty outside now.I hate storms at night.I can’t see a thing.
My brother was crying.
But my nephew and nieces were running around saying this is awesome, the house is shaking.And my mom continued cooking dinner, while my brother ran into the hallway with a blanket over his head.My mother was like "Your a nut case what the heck are you doing in the hall"

I live in the second/top story of a downtown building above a shop. The only enclosed lower level of my apartment are the stairs and a small space in between the stairs and the front door. The bathroom and bedroom both have large windows and are on an exterior wall while the rest of the apartment shares walls with two other apartments and has no windows. The living room and dining room are adjoined and are open to the staircase. The only room that is sort of enclosed that doesn’t have windows is my kitchen. What would be the safest area in my apartment to seek shelter during a tornado?

Ok so I live in Louisville KY and we have always had severe weather but I have NEVER been in a tornado. I live in the Ohio Valley so Tornados aren’t too common and I have never really been worried. But now that I have a child I am for some reason terrified of the thought of a tornado! We’re suppose to be having serious storms tonight that could produce tornados and my question is, is my basement that I have to walk outside to get into, safe? It’s underneath the house but I have to walk out the back door to get into it. The door isn’t secure at all and can’t lock from the inside. It’s also un-finished and not big at all. Now my house is old and brick. The basement walls are 5 feet of concrete so I feel like thats a very good thing. My fear would be that the door could fly open and then we get ripped out of the basement or something! I don’t understand why I am so terrified. I guess because before I only had to worry about my own life but now I have a child I have to worry about as well!!! Any reassurance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

i have had many end of the world dreams but not like this 1..i was running with my brother trying to get out of a city in downtown from a tornado destrying everything and everyone was panicing…so we got away in a car n hid shelter with some people in a building..so we stayed there for a bit and went outside and i could see the ocean and as i was looking at the ocean i saw 8 nuclear bombs rising into the air and saw them hit the ocean 1 by 1 creating a big explosion with a huge tsunami with it..as i was looking the tsunami com towards me i looked to my right i saw someone i never even seen and told them this is it n i took their hand and the dream ended…..

Ok, so about 20 meters from me we have a tornado shelter, it’s a mound shelter…. i went inside and it dosen’t really go underground or anything… it’s like made of steel and concrete it seems. any1 familiar with this kind? anyhow we are probably going to have some tornadoes in the area tonight, and i was wondering how safe these "mound shelters" are, because i always here about being below ground to be safe from tornadoes. thank you all.

I live in a double wide with my 3 children. The house is on a cement foundation. We had an addition put onto the house that is only like 4 steps lower than the rest of the house, but has slider glass doors, so I assume that is out of the question because of the doors. The bathroom is on the outside wall, and has a window. Would it be safer to seek shelter in the hallway, under a mattress if I shut all doors? The rest of the house has lots of windows and I have 3 huge bay windows. I am stuck at home with kids, and no vehicle to go anywhere else. Leaving is out of the question. I have a crawlspace outside under the house.. how safe is that? Any suggestions?
I have a closet, but on exterior walls..and no basement. Could the house collapse down on me if i were under the crawlspace? I hate storms!
Okay..to the storm chaser. Wouldn’t I be safer in the home other than outside in a ditch? I’m freaked, and no way to leave and no neighbors.

It seems as I’m always having dreams about tornadoes. I used to be so fascinated with studying tornadoes IN THE PAST. but now I’m terrified of them. It been going on for years. And u still have no clue why I always dream about them. I dream that I’m outside usually and see a tornado and someone I love is with me, and we sometimes don’t fond shelter and then I wake up. Or I’m already inside and I see like two or three tornadoes out the window. Ide like to know what they mean.. thanks.

Since childhood, the idea of being in a tornado has always terrified me. Recently we were under a tornado watch (almost a warning), but luckily we never got one.
I am considering buying a safe room. But do above ground safe rooms really work? Anyon have any experience with them? Any stories to share? Any advice?

I had the most weirdest and craziest dream yesterday. I had a dream that my state had a severe tornado outbreak and tornado warnings were issued like crazy and tornadoes formed like crazy. I even dreamed that i was some sort of person in the community’s safety team and i drove around helping people from debris while tornadoes formed like crazy and i drove back and forth from the community’s public shelter. I even had a laptop with wireless internet access on the road in my car that provided me with tornado warnings & weather watches updates. What would this kind of dream mean to me ? I do honestly love weather especially weather like thunderstorms and stuff but I’m not studying meteorology I’m studying computer science. What did this dream mean at all to me ? My state in the next 2 days will have a chance of thunderstorms. Would it mean there would be a tornado outbreak ? I don’t understand because it was a very crazy dream.

I am frantic and i am scared to death by tornadoes, the other day i was at work in my office building on the 30th floor and i saw the weather getting pretty bad with all the lightning and rain so i decided to go home and check on my wife. So immediately i left what i was doing and head for the express elevator, on the way down i got an weather channel notice on my iphone of a tornado warning and franticly rushed home. So i drove home on the interstate and the weather was pretty bad while everyone was seeking shelters as the sirens went off like crazy for 45 minutes. When i got home my wife was in the closet and she asked me why i left work, i said i was scared that she would’ve gotten hurt. She started crying and said why did you risk your life running home like that, you could have gotten killed and left me. She said that she would’ve been perfectly fine and that i should see my doctor because of how paranoid i am with these tornadoes. Do you think i should go see my doctor like she told me ? She said she doesn’t want me to do this again because she said i might not be lucky next time. The tornado didn’t hit us it dissipated about a mile from our house.
