I live in a manufactured home. It’s on a cement foundation and the straps are cemented into the foundation. I’m trying to plan ahead for tornado season but I’m confused as to whether my home qualifies as a ‘death trap’ like some mobile homes do. I’ve read that manufactured homes are no better than mobile homes during tornadoes and that mobile or manufactured homes that are strapped down can only withstand 100 mph winds, if that. I know my home is strapped down, but does the foundation not help at all? I thought that homes on a cement foundation were secure, but now I’m not sure. Is my home perhaps strapped to the foundation and not actually secure like other homes with a foundation? It makes me nervous as none of my neighbors have basements or anything of the sort so I’m not sure where to go if I can’t stay in my home

may be i have a death wish. specially behind the camera. i put camera online audience before my safety.

i like getting right on the edges of very high places. and how i’m able to is because i tell myself the worst thing that could happen is that i fall and die. and its no problem.

i even had this one idea about getting a parachutee and strap it on when a tornado comes, film and jump in it. while still filming. and when it throws me out pull the string and land safely back on the ground.

and when i get hurt i’m down for a minute or two. get back up and joke about it. not even caring that i’m bleeding. a close friend of mine is worried the hell out of me. hes always saying i’m nuts, crazy, insane.

i’m all lalala when a possible tornado is coming. all i can think of is possible great film. i want to chase it.

i don’t flinch. i scared some people because of that. and when someone gets in my face thinking they all alpha male. i do it right back. regardless the size of the other person.

and when someone says they are going to hurt me i just stand still and say do it! i been shot with BB guns few steps back from me right on my neck. because everyone was saying how bad they hurt and i told them it doesn’t. it was with a shotgun BB. didn’t even flinch. i amazed everybody. and some got scared because it doesn’t seem normal. i was bleeding and didn’t even care. over, over, over, and over again.

as far as i know i’m not depressed. its more like, what the hell.. don’t know. i for one think its funny and cool being called these names.

i’m curious to know what you think.
lol

earlier today we had a tornado warning and the weather was getting severe and my mom had appearntly heard from someone that an evacuation of the area was possible(which btw never happened). Well after that when she told me i said that i am definitely gonna evacuate the house just because of a tornado, we have a basement so i would have gone down there cause i believe it is stupid to make people evacuate their own house just cause of something stupid like that when if you know what to do you could perfectly keep yourself safe. Yes i know they do it for your own safety(i honestly could have cared less if i would have died) but if the evacuation would have occurred and i didnt leave would they have done anything or have just left me there to die?

If the tornado was on flat ground with no buildings or debris flying around and you were to wear tons of protective gear.. or be harnessed in a big secure bubble… with like a parachute or some type of safety landing mechanism….. then you were sucked up into a tornado, would you survive?

clearly i need to go back to bed, as its 6:32am, but i’m just wondering, it’d seem kinda fun haha.
(quite obviously, i don’t know much about tornadoes.. so bear with me here).

To be honest i’m kind of imagining someone just jumping inside one covered in bubble wrap.. this is how my brain works. good night/morning.

for over 10 years I’ve been having these dreams of witnessing tornadoes forming right in front of me and everyone i knew is running, screaming and I’m guiding them to safety but the storms follow no matter how far i run with them but I’m the only one who’s not affected by the forces of the storm…

Let’s say waterspouts (tornado’s over a body of water) are constantly forming, pulling jellyfish from the water, where they are then carried to land, and die. Now, after this same re-occurrence over thousands of years, is it possible the jellyfish would find ways to survive, say by gaining the ability to float in the air, back to safety?

If so, how does this process work?
@Cal King…okay, let’s say the jellyfish evolve so they are able to float in the air, to safely glide back into the water, instead of being thrown on land where they evidentially will die, as they have been for thousands of years. I’m sure if you took a jellyfish, and threw it in the air, it would just fall, but can evolution change the jellyfish to where it can float (just as they do in the water, except in the air)?

So, I have been nervous during bad weather ever since I was little. This tornado season in Minnesota though, seems to be out of control. Like everyday, there seems to be a tornado watch. So this season, I’ve been scared to death. During even cloudy weather, my heart beats fast. Tornado watches, I get a little shaky. Tornado warning, or looks really bad out, I’m petrified. How can I help this. I know all the safety precautions, I live in a stable house in the suburbs, and know the chances of my house being hit by a tornado. I am still scared to death. What can I do? I don’t want to go to a psychiatrist or anything like that, thanks!

I’m going to this concert this evening in downtown, in the city where the concert is taking place there is a lot of severe weather & severe thunderstorms happening right now. In fact the weather service has issued a tornado watch until 2am in the morning, it is 2:30pm right now and the show is in 5 hours from now. I’m concered with if they will do anything for safety if they ever issue a tornado warning. The concert is going to be filmed by professional people during the show performance. Would they do anything if the national weather service issues a tornado warning during the live taping or they would just ignore it ? I don’t want to be enjoying the concert with my girlfriend and then dieing because they didn’t do anything.

I think they should make houses in tornado alley that have indoor basements or outdoor basements, it would save lives for the citizens who live in it, and I think that paying for a basement is ridiculous. You shouldn’t have to pay for something for your safety, that’s what I think. Give me your opinions about this.
For those with the smart remarks I’m just a kid, I’m only 16 so um how can I pay for my own house and take care of my self I’m not even in college yet.. smh pity on you and um btw I don’t live in tornado.. I just thought it was a great idea.

We bought a house in IL without a basement.. yeah I know.. it’s not good. We have a gravel/dirt crawlspace which creeps me out AND we have a utility closet under our stairs. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and don’t want to compromise their safety. What is the safest place during a tornado?

Okay so it starts outside an opera house and it’s just my girlfriend and I and the rest of the crowd waiting to go inside. A flying toy helicopter begins to fly towards my
Girlfriends head(I know it sounds weird but stay with me here) I knocked it away and saved it from hitting her then we walked away a bit and it started to move towards her again but I pushed it away again. Then we have entered the opera house and we’re on the stage. We are walking around and I have some sort of paper and pencil in my had but I’m not sure what I was doing with it really. I then see my grandma and I say hi not expecting to see her. She is with people in the show and the the people with her tell us to leave. I then see my friend wearing an all blue&black but mostly blue plaid coat and hat and she’s moving in the chorus of people in all black just standing and singing. Then we go outside and we see a trailer home fly through the air. We look over and theres a skinny but dark gray amd seemingly powerful tornado(it throw a trailer home so I’m assuming it was powerful. My girlfriend was stunned by the sight and couldn’t move though the tornado was coming right at her so I pulled her out of the way, went around the building and started running to my house. There was minor flooding going on and a plane falling out of the sky on fire towards us(more directed at my girlfriend though) so I turned around to take us to my car to escape and I turn and see a car driving but then I woke up.
I know it’s a handful but this dream was too weird to pass up for an interpretation.
The falling plane was rolling towards both of us but I still felt that "get to safety" feeling.
We were having fun on the stage though. We were happy and everything just when things go crazy of course we were focused on that. And saving her was some task really it just felt like a normal responsibility. Like it was just a natural thing to do so.

I’ve just moved to oklahoma city in oklahoma where is mostly known as tornado alley, i didn’t want to move but i had to because of my job relocation. Since i’ve heard on television on the news back in 1999 about the deadliest may 3rd 1999 tornado outbreak in history, i never would want to move here if it wasn’t for my job. But does anything like that ever happen here often ? People said that tornadoes here in Oklahoma forms into the deadly F5 tornadoes that is about a mile wide in diameter. What are some ways i could make sure my wife & family is safe during one of these outbreaks if I’m away from home ? Also, how could i keep myself safe if i am on the 34th floor in an building with only express elevators ? The elevators don’t have stops between floors Lobby – 29th. I’m very curious about my family’s safety and mine’s in case if one of these tornado outbreaks occurs

1) Is it possible to pay for food on an airplane in midair using a credit card? If so, how does that authentication system work?

2) What is the maximum wind speed that makes it unsafe for a passenger airplane to fly through?

3) What would happen to a passenger aircraft if it flew through a hurricane or tornado? Was this more common in the early days of aviation?

4) Is it possible for a pilot to turn off the flight data recorder on a passenger airplane? Is this illegal?

5) Are pilots trained to recover a plane from a bird strike? Are pilots trained to recover a plane from a microburst? Are pilots trained to recover

6) Since the hours are so long and there’s not much time to see family and friends, what’s the motivation to become a pilot other than the pay? Is flying a plane really that fun after a few years?

7) Since being a fulltime pilot can be a very stressful job, how does the industry know if pilots become suicidal/homicidal? The pilots of SilkAir Flight 185 and EgyptAir Flight 990 are examples of mass murderers.

8) If all 300 passengers on a jumbo jet used their cell phones to make calls in midair all at the same time, what would happen to the plane?

9) How likely is the possibility of two planes colliding while one or both of them is near an airport flying a holding pattern?

10) If a terrorist near an airport on the ground wanted to jam the radio communications on a nearby plane about to land, how likely can he succeed?

11) If a long dormant volcano suddenly erupts and the ash covers the windshield of a plane nearby, how easily can the windshield wipers wipe it off? WHAT IF THE WIPERS MALFUNCTION? Does that mean that the pilots are essentially flying blind?
For 1), since credit card numbers can only be checked on the ground, does it get checked the moment the plane reaches the airport terminal gate? What’s the checking device? What if a passenger pays by credit card in midair, but it later turns out the card has been deactivated or is forged?

So last night I had a dream where I was up very one night and a few different groups of puppies wandered by. Being an animal lover I called them all over and was trying to read their tags to see if they had numbers on them to call to find their owner. In the meantime I was gonna put them in a huge cage in the back yard that just happened to be there. A lady pulled up and started asking me something but about that time the weather got really bad and it was obvious we had to get the dogs to safety asap. We both agreed we were animal lovers so we tried to get them into the cage and we did, but the tornado hit immediately and some of the puppies died but we lived. It was way more dramatic in the dream. Anyways, we immediately felt passionate about one another and were very sad about the situation. The more we talked, the more we realized that this happened for a reason, to make us meet one another because we were perfect. In the dream I almost realized that it was a dream but I think I didn’t want to because I wanted to believe it was real. I woke up so sad and didn’t even wanna start my day cause I was so sad. I never took dreams that seriously but wow, some crazy stuff. Only in Hollywood right? Has anyone ever experienced a dream like this that just made you kinda look down on life a little ? Maybe I’m just to much of a hopeless romantic, who knows. Or maybe does anyone know what a dream like this may signify? Thanks.

My step-dad is always trying to say I am because I have 12 pets. (13 if you count my sister, lol) Anyway, I have 7 dogs, 2 cats & 3 hamsters. All the dogs & cats were rescues. I disagree with him that I am because I don’t want to get any more. I’m leaving for college in a couple years, I’m taking off a year between high school & college to save money for my own place so I can take them with me.

I don’t even plan on getting a gold fish or anything until after these pets have passed on & I’ve had my time to heal. I work odd jobs all the time so that I can afford their every need. I pay for their food (raw diet), I built their enclosures, I pay for their medical, I give them all their own individual attention as long as play with them together & I feed/water them. I’ve gone without my extra money when something unexpected has come up. Like when we had a tornado & it tore our back fence down.

I took the money I was using to save up for a new car to pay for a new one because my parents refused & I needed it to ensure their safety. I always have some money put aside for medical purposes. We live right outside town, (like 1/2 mile) & we have 2 acres, my parents live in their house, I live in our converted workshop & my pets live in the enclosure attached to it. Half is closed in so it’s warm & the other half is like a screened in patio. I always have enough for them & I don’t have to kill myself just to afford them. They are all healthy & get their shots as necessary.

So, how exactly am I an "Animal Hoarder"? Is it the number of pets or what?
But my wanting a car is no where near as important as their safety nor is it even a need, it’s a want so no I don’t think I put my needs before theirs, but okay.
