Are tornadoes rare in Waco Texas?

I have lived in Waco for most of my life, and year & a half ago, a tornado struck Waco, it was an EF2. My dad says that their rare.

from the period begining in 1950 and ending in 2006 there have been a total of 56 tornados in Mclennan County Tx. (Waco).
Seince 1950 there have been1 F5, 3 F2, an F1 and an F0 that have hit within the Waco city limits.

Statistically, yes, they are rare.
But the worst tornado in Texas history occured in Waco on May 11, 1953. It was an F-5, killing 114 people.
But remember, tornadoes are purely unpredictable! They don’t "seek" out one location or the next. It all depends on the conditions in a particular spot.
