Anyone else in Hurricane Ike’s path?

I’m in Houston 
..I’m really hoping that Ike is the same as Gustav…
Emergency Supplies:
Bottled Water
Some band-aids
canned peaches
the grocery store nearby is EMPTY…the only stuff left is the perishable stuff and really unhealthy crap that I refuse to eat…it’s also kind of sad that they ran out of beer before they ran out of water and ice…
There is like 6 gas stations in my town, and they were all out of gas until like 30 min ago….
ugh..I’m freaking out

Yes! Once again the storm is expected to head straight for Texarkana. It isn’t supposed to land until tomorrow morning and it’s already raining here. They’re also saying the storm is so gigantic it will still be a cat 1 even here! Apparently, half of Port Arthur and Galveston are here already (seems like it, anyway). It’s a mad house out there and all the stores and gas stations are running out of food and fuel. Local authorities have also warned that we’ll probably all lose power & that we may have a tornado outbreak. =O
Compared to this storm, Gustav was a baby.
I hope you will be safe down there! It may be right on top of you in the morning. I hope you have more than peaches and green beans this time.

I hope you have a flash light and for goodness sakes, grab the manual can opener and keep it with you just in case the kitchen gets demolished. It would be aggravating to have canned peaches and nothing to open the can with. We just got 7 inches of rain in one night from the last hurricane. I hoping that Ike spares you the destructive winds and just poops out. HUGS

I’m sorry! I hope everything turns out okay! I’m sure it will. My mother lives in Florida and has to worry about hurricanes. It sucks. ((hugs))

Nope… I’m in Chicago where the only thing that can kill me is a periodic tornado or the leaky windows in my 100+ year old apartment in the middle of winter.
Let me make a lifestyle recomendation…
MOVE AWAY FROM THE COAST!!!
If you live on the coast… A hurricain will hur you…
If you live in California… An earthquake will hurt you…

I’m not directly. But here in the Midwest, we are to get a lot of rain between now (Friday) and next Wednesday, once it hits land, we are to get the aftermath.

My Friend, I hope you will be safe and that Ike isn’t as dangerous as they are saying it may be. Your city is a good one for disaster management and I am sure that you will be taken care of if the worst happens. But there is no sure way of knowing what the storm will do until it does something, so there is no way to know how you will be impacted unless it happens. You can get some perishable stuff at least for the next couple days and make sure you have a way to cook food without using your regular kitchen. Or you can get canned foods that will last longer. It is sad that the beer ran out faster than water and ice, but there was probably a larger supply of water and ice available too. You are a good guy (I have seen a lot of your answers and I like what you have to say and the questions you ask are good too). I hope you are okay after the storm passes and I wish you the best! Stay Safe!

Make sure you have flash lights and extra batteries sweety, blankets, napsacks, ect. I hope everything will be okay. Tell us how it is when it blows over!
EDIT: Hey.. You should move in New York and chill with me! Lol. You don’t have to worry about Earthquakes, tornados, or Hurricanes at allllll.

Not directly, but I’m only about 3 hours inland of Houston. (About 30 minutes south of Austin)
So you KNOW everyone and their freaking DOG is coming here. So yeah, our traffic situation? HORRIBLE. It’s been taking me close to hour just to get off campus. I-35 is backed up all over the place here. And since people are driving here from Houston, they are filling up their gas tanks here, so we’re having the gas problems too.
Ugh..hurricanes suck.

I really liked Houston when I went to visit.
Maybe unhealthy crap is better than nothing? Canned peaches isn’t much.
Do you have time to got to a store further away, maybe you’ll get lucky and be able to find something you like, that is not perishable.

Im in Houston too and my mom went to the Grocery store (foodtown) and she said it was EMPTY, she only bought like canned foods, chips, bread and stuff!! Ugh we have to prepare for the worst….check out the news to see any updates or whatever……Good uck and Take care!!

Awww. I was in Hurricane Hanna’s path. Nothing bad like your situation, just insane amounts of rain thunder and lightening. Good luckk :/

I live in Miami and we go through this (sometime multiple times) every year. We actually still have 30 gallons of (bottled) water and lots of canned beans, corn, and peaches sitting in our living room left over from 2 weeks ago since at first they said Ike was probably going to hit here as a 4 or 5!!! Instead it hit Cuba and Haiti (Haiti’s in desperate need of some help!!! The flooding there is unreal. 80+% of their houses have been damaged or destroyed, many people have been injured and the death toll is rising!!!) As soon as a Hurricane looks like it’s coming this way my girlfriend and I always make sure we have everything we need to get by on our own for at least a week if needed. We fill up all of our cars with gas plus extra tanks, check our generator, go grocery shopping, check our flashlights, make sure we have all of the needed supplies for our pets, get the shutters on standby and buy more propane for the outdoor stove. We do all of this at least 4 days ahead so we dont have to deal with the last minute rush that ALWAYS occurs the last couple of days before the storm hits.Usually we lose power at our house even if it’s a smaller storm and in many cases it wont come back on for 2 to 3 weeks. It’s a real pain having to do all of this and many times it’s all in vain when the storm changes paths but I would rather have $180 worth of canned food and water sitting in my living room unused rather then no water or food when the big one hits.

One of my friends from Y!A is in Houston (funny he didn’t answer) and another friend is in Dallas. Hope they’re ok.
I’m in Florida, and we got pounded by Fay for about 5 days, but didn’t get a lot of damage personally.
I hate Florida.

we kinda are in paris,texas but it is suppose to be down to a low category 1 maybe even a tropical depression they told us we would probably loose power for a couple of days and maybe miss school Monday. we had evacuees come in today to stay in our gym and i helped them get moved in. it was sad seeing them all leave their homes but it felt good to help them move in.
