Any suggestions for a good place to raise a family with no extreme heat and have a thick white xmas blanket?
I am looking for a new place to live. I have young kids (10yrs, 7yrs, & 20mons), am a single mom (but don’t want the single scene), somewhere away from hurricanes and tornadoes (currently live in South Texas). I want a mountain view and lake view from my home with at acreage. Work opportunities is not necessary since I have a successful home business (ask me for info if you want one too). Summers that don’t get hotter than 85 and winters where the thick blanket of snow last for a few days or more. I have been thinking about Colorado but can’t seem to decide of a city, I like Breckenridge because you are not living at the bottom of the mountain–I don’t really want that. I prefer small towns verses big city. I love the TV idea of everyone knowing each other. Scenic views are very important to me since I will have lots of time on my hands now to explore.
Thanks for the help!

wow hard question?? i live in washington state about half way between the ocean and olympia? if you move to the west coast you may get 85′s in the north parts along the ocean in wash, or ore? but in the eastern parts of the states it gets over 100′s in the summer! we don’t get much snow here only a few days 1or2 times a year in dec or jan? true you do get snow in colorado but freezing weather for a long time too? south california, along the coast in the winter is good but millions of people there too and the highest housing in the country, almost as high as hawaii?

The San Juan Islands in Washington State have rolling green hills, postcard views, and it snows only rarely.

Well, i’m not too sure about places down there, but I can list a few in Canada just for some ideas.
Vancouver, or around there, has nice mountain views of course. Plus there’s usually some snow, but not too much.
My personal favorite is Prince Edward Island though.
Its affordable, beautiful, and you have a very good chance of getting acreage for a reasonable price.
As for lake view, you have a good chance of getting some kind of water view since it is an island.
Mountains aren’t in PEI, but they have hills.
Over all, if I was moving, i’d choose PEI. It’s a beautiful place, and the people are amazing there.
Sorry I couldn’t help with places in the states.

try pennsylvania. anywhere in PA would work, but if you want a mountain view, then try the poconoes. but the suburbs in eastern pennsylvania is PERFECT.(its where i live:)) and in winter there is snow, and in the summer the average temp is 80 degrees.
