I have friends that live in Colorado and were in the storm that hit last year on July 20th. I heard from some people that it was a tornado and I heard from others that it was not. What was the storm REALLY?
In addition to that, I saw a storm chaser’s blog entry that talked about the storm, where it was heading, etc. He said it was a tornado. I don’t know, though.

Alright, so at around 4:00 AM this morning a storm rolled into town. Well, I was watching MTV and decided to go outside to make sure there isn’t a tornado or something. No tornado, so I come back in and notice my parents bedroom door is open. I thought that it was odd since I remembered it being closed when I walked out. So I thought no problem, closed it and watched TV for a bit more. Well. my dog woke up and I put her out to use the restroom. I come back in after a few minutes, the bedroom door is open again.

Now I’m just thinking how odd, there are no drafts and no one closing the door so I decide to whip out the video camera and set it on the tripod and walked outside to check on the dog.

As you can see the door opens on it’s own but there is no drafts, and I can’t understand why it’s doing it. It doesn’t do it when I’m in the house. Then the wind blows our front door open so I shut it. I sit down at the computer, door blows open again. I close it and the bedroom door is open AGAIN.

Well now I’m saying F this whatever is going on and wake up my mom to check the weather with me.

Am I paranoid, or is this a legit reason to be skittish?

i have a AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 620 Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.6GHz in a raidmax tornado case and i was wondering how hard it would b to over clock and if i would have to worry about over heating in the small cheep case

Lets say a hole in the ground sucks in air at 700mph. Would that create tornados or storms. Especially being on the ground and changing the hot/cold temp difference. Or would that just be a giant hole sucking air into the ground?

Ok, so here is the situation:
We had a tornado watch in the area here today and I went to check on my son. < I usually don’t do things like that because I know it would upset and confuse my child to see me come and go but not take him with me.>
Anyway, when I got there, there was no one in the building…that is except ONE small child (maybe 3 or not quite). They had evacuated the building for shelter but left this one child. Luckily, I was there and found her; scared but nonetheless found her. I am FURIOUS! There are so many things wrong with that! I am thinking that it could have been MY child and even though it isn’t it is SOMEONES baby and I would be worse that a tornado if that WAS my child. So I think the mother needs to know. Beyond that I am not sure what other actions to pursue. What do you think???
By the way my child was in a daycare/preschool and the manager does know…now. I think it should have been the manager’s job to do a final sweep and make sure the kids were all safely evacuated. Also, she was not hiding. She was on her assigned mat used for nap time. Just sitting there….all alone

it’s very windy here in Wisconsin. it’s gusting at 40-60 mph right now, and it’s suppose to be like this til tomorrow. many trees and power-lines are currently down. there was even a tornado near Milwaukee this morning in Racine.

I love storms. They fascinate me. Watching tornadoes from a distance is an awesome experience. As long as it stays away, lol. I live in Oklahoma and was 1 block from the May 3rd tornado you probably heard about, then the other one a few years later took out my dad’s work. Just yesterday we had 65 tornadoes, not just here but all around us. Then today there was one in Oklahoma City right on the turnpike. Isn’t that exciting yet utterly terrifying all the same? Have you ever been close to one, in one, or seen one?

I’ve heard that some areas have begun installing sirens to alert the people in the neighborhood of an emergency, such as a tornado etc. Does nyc have these sirens? And also I know that on tv they have those required monthly tests just in case of emergency, to alert the public. Would these alerts sound if a tornado had been spotted? Thanks in advance!

I am 27 years old, and one of those "anti-facebook" types. I don’t mind people using it to reconnect, i get all that and am cool with it, it’s just not my personal cup of tea. However i’ve finally had it with my cousin, she literally kept her entire family holding the closet door of their home open while she ran to window during yesterday’s tornado outburst in south dallas to snap a cell picture to update her facebook and send to all of her friends, and from what my aunt says my baby cousins were crying and she was screaming to get back into the closet it was chaotic…

I have always wondered what the procedures are for train crews in the event a tornado warning is issued, do they stop the train and seek shelter in a ditch or try to high tail it out of there? Finally how do dispatchers get tornado warnings? Please let me know thank you.
