Im 12 and I have a HUGE fear of thunderstorms. This all started when a tornado came through my school about a year and a half ago. If it’s a normal thunderstorm, then i’m fine, but if its severe…Just ughh. I hate them. And it just got worse after the tornado warning in my area that happened a few weeks ago. Like the thunder scares me and the hail (sometimes). I get my self so worked up about it, so it makes me think that a tornado is going to form, i hate them too. I search up info about thunderstorms and tornadoes all the time, thinking that if i get informed i will be less scared, but it just makes me more scared. o.o I get in alot of trouble with my parents because of this strange phobia. And like what i it happens during school? I don’t want to embarrass myself in front of my classmates! I want this fear to end! Any ideas on how to make it stop WITHOUT meds? Or going to the doctor?Please help!

I am planning on moving to Florida, and I am thinking of moving to Wesley Chapel, Florida, or North Port. (North Port might be my highest choice)
But just to know, which part of Florida gets the most hurricane storms?
Also the house I was looking at is built up high on a non-flood zone, so I guess that’s a little safe.

If so…why not makes buildings that way in the first place? Seems like if you are going to live in an tornadoe infested area it would make sense to build the buildings right the first time. Probaly save money in the long run.

Its raining in southern california, like HARD, like thunderstorm&tornado warnings haha, seriously I watched the news, anyways. What should I wear to school when its raining? I’m thinking of wearing black yoga pants,a white spaghetti strap tank,gray sweater,white scarf and gray uggs with a white purse&a necklace&bangles. does that sound cute? any other ideas? I love the rain, but IDK what to wear! haha, im 15&in high school, so I dress pretty "fashionable". Also I’m 5’2, if that makes a difference. I have pretty much everything you can think of for clothes, so you can name anything.

I currently reside in Northeast Columbia in South Carolina and To be honest I really don’t know when does the tornado season start officially. Back in 2008 we had a Tornado Outbreak that occurred on the mid week of March 15th, We had a Tornado Warning and a Tornado Outbreak a day after the Atlanta Tornado Incident. I strangely like severe weather like Heavy Snow & Blizzard Conditions, Tornadoes , Severe Thunderstorms, Hurricanes and etc. It is just so fun to track weather and storms when they appear to occur in your area. So when does the official tornado season starts for the southeastern states and south carolina ? What would Be the best month for me to see severe thunderstorms and severe weather ? I would really like to know really soon because I’m planning to make a youtube channel of videos of thunderstorms.

Here in Arkansas we get plenty , seems like Oklahoma and Missouri get hit more than we do.

Here’s my story:

Yesturday afternoon a massive tornado struck Cleavland Street, a street with a lot of businesses and homes on it, destroying everything in it’s path. This tornado was actually one of three reported. The Weather Bureau first became concerned after seeing the temperature was at 70 degrees, which was unseasonalbly warm for this time of the year, along with moisture buildup in the air. These conditions were just right for a tornado to strike. At two o’ clock a tornado warning was issued. At three p.m after several reports of funnel clouds, another tornado warning was issued. Finally at 3:33 a tornado formed and hit Cleavland Street. This cyclone destroyed several businesses and homes, including that of Mayor Robert T. Mellon. Only one death was reported but at least four people had to go to the hospital due to injuries both serious and minor. The amount of damage done by the tornado is approximatly 0,000. "Its amazing that all this damage was done in less than two minutes" said the cheif of police

In my journalism class we were given a list of facts and asked to write a story based on them.

We had decided to take a cross country road trip to California last summer. June 12th 2009. We get to Kansas, and there is a horrible storm blowing up. The sky is green, we pull under a bridge and we can’t see a thing. Wind is just whipping rain and hail and rain and debree everywhere. When it finally lets up a little bit, we pull up to the next gas station in Bowman. We go inside to use the bathroom and ask if the storm was completely blown over as everyone was watching the news. The gas station employee told us that it looked that way. So we go out and get back in the car, and try to take a short nap. It had been a long day, we’d been driving all night. After not being able to sleep very well, I decided I needed to pee again. So I go back inside and notice that the power is out. With out thinking I keep on heading to the bathroom. It doesn’t occur to me until I get to the bathroom door that I won’t be able to see. The lights are out. Luckily there is this woman in front of me, and she has a tiny flash light. She said that she had just sent her husband out to get it. She was laughing as I asked if I could borrow her flashlight to make sure nothing was growing or wet on my seat. So as we are sitting there, doing our business, we start talking in the dark, thru the stall wall. She said that she is from arkansas and her husband is a research meteorologist, and he was pretty sure a tornado had just passed. I told her about our trip and asked where she was headed. She said she was headed to Denver Colorado to shoot a music video. As we were washing our hands, I laughed and told her that she could be somebody famous for all knew, as I couldn’t see a thing in there. I asked if she was a singer. She said really slow as if it was a stupid question…."Yes…" So we open the bathroom door and get back out where we can see a little and she shines the light up at her face and smiles as if I am suppose to know who she is. I was embarrassed, and didn’t want to hurt her feelings or look stupid. So I said, "OH yea, COOL!"
…I to this day have no idea who that woman is. I told my family about it as we pulled out of the parking lot, and was told to never tell this story again. My husband compared it to a joke with out a punch line.

WHO IS IT!!!!???? She had shoulder length blonde/brown hair. In her 40′s or 50′s. I am assuming that she sings country. Shorter than my 5’5". I had someone say Patty loveless, but I can’t find anything on her husband to verify. IT’S DRIVING ME NUTTS!
Nope. Not her, just looked up her info. And her husband is an actual research meteorologist. Thank you tho. Never heard of that lady.

In my experience sometimes before a severe storm usually tornado producing ones before the weather become violent everything looks green. Almost as if their is a green film over your window. Why does this happen and what causes this?

Hi, my weather outside my window is cloudy and VERY windy and cold… and the other day when it was clear and I was playing tennis, right behind the tennis court was a sand tornado. and I was just wondering if there might be a tornado..because of the wind behavior. btw We don’t Ever usually get tornadoes in California … So yep.
