I own a 1997 dodge intrepid std 4 dr sedan 6cyl gasoline 3.3 liter 4 speed in fair conditions cd player no rust with 197,242 miles. My car was was in a hail and tornado damage where the hood has a dent and the driver and passanger side have dent and the trunk. I have full coverage insurance and they telling me that my car was total last i love my car and i spent alot of money fixing it and it drives great no problem. So I was trying to get some help from some one that could tell me how much is my car worth so they wont give me less money and if they offer me less what could I do. I am not trying to bew greedy but i do love my car and spent alot of money on it. I would rather get it fix . PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HELP ME

I wish I could remember more details… but here I account what I remember:

I was sitting outside with some friends and the skies were getting darker and the air windier. Living in a region that is prone to tornadic weather (in my real life) we were just watching the clouds form in a common-day/matter-of-fact disposition. When I realized a hook was starting to form.

We all had to take off running and while I can’t remember who all my friends were in the dream… I do recall that our running was a stampede of a lot of people—strangers even—all booking it to find shelter. Along the way some people were stopping in shacks (we were in a wooded and mountainous area… as if we had been camping)—but I encouraged my friends to keep running and not stop with the rest of the flock to seek shelter in these places they were choosing.

We stopped at the rock formation that looked like a natural stairwell and crouched below/behind it. We could hear the tornado gaining speed. I don’t remember much else, I think I woke up soon after.

But if I remember correctly the tornado surpassed us and we just felt a lot of wind from behind our shelter.

It was 231mph held since 1934 on Mount Washington until it was broken in 1996 with a recorded speed of 253mph on Barrow Island
But what about the tornado that hit Oklahoma city in 1999 when a speed of 318mph was recorded. or is it that winds in a tornado do not count for whatever reason ?

I’m kinda intersted in storm chasing and looking into it. If I wanted to be a storm chaser what classes would I need to take in college? What would I need to major in? And what degree would I need/how many years would I need? Who exactly do/can you work for (like the National weather service? Do some news stations hire for that?) or do you just take videos and pictures and stuff and sell them? Out of further curiousity whats an average salary and whats your salary based on (I’m guessing instead of an exact salary they base it off of like how many tornadoes and thunderstorms you encounter?) today my house lost power… i was pissed… i found out we had experienced and earthquake very near the time i remembered the power going out and wonder if maybe that did it (the quake was so mild i didnt feel it myself). now in the evening we had the sirens go off and reports on the news (after the utility man came and fixed our power) of at least 1 or 2 (possibly more) funnel clouds touching down near the airport and in Dearborn. i mentioned it to my friend and she asked me to find out if that has ever happened before here. ive lived ere 18 years and never experienced either! now they happen in a single day?! what are the chances! if anyone has information on this google and bing give me a whole bunch of crap from weather sites not related to what i wanted to find out. thanks all =]

in the hancock and mary duel, right after a couple tornadoes start to surround hancock theres somethin in the background that caught me by surprise. there seems to be something, or someone, thats like 8 feet tall, walking in the opposite direction of all the people running away. it seems like some machine/transformer-esque thing. i rewound it a couple times, but it just seemed out of place. anyone else notice this, or have any info about it?

Ok, so, I only have limited time to type this and pay attention to this question, because in the next 10-15 an "extremely violent tornado is headed straight for me, and it’s an extremely dangerous and life threatening situation." A severe thunderstorm generated an EXTREMELY severe tornado, and it’s expected to be a violent F-5!!! I was recently under a SNOW emergency and now a freakin’ tornado emergency! Ok, so, the point is, I have no-where to go! I am basically in the middle of the woods, and I have no basement because a few years ago we had a big fire and it destroyed our basement. Our bathroom has about 3 windows, and of course I can’t go outside and duck because there’s thousands of trees around me. Please help!!! Thanks.

I am going to live with my dad soon for about 6 weeks. He lives right on the coast of southern North Carolina (3 minute walk from the ocean). I am a bit worried about what would happen in the case of a hurricane. What can I do to be prepared? I know that my dad and stepmom have the basics like food/water and emergency supplies or whatever but what can I do? I am 17, almost 18 by the way and I will have my own car there. Also, what happens in the case of a hurricane evacuation? Advice from someone who has experienced it? Thanks for your help!

I understand that the Weather Service uses two types of alerts: Watches and Warnings.
Watch – conditions are favorable, and a tornado might happen today.
Warning – Seek shelter NOW!

15-20 years ago, a tornado warning meant "there’s a tornado on the ground, seek shelter NOW"
Today, it’s "there’s a thunderstorm spinning overhead. It might produce a tornado, but it often doesn’t".

To me, that shows a need for a third level of alert.

Watch – Don’t plan on spending the day outside.
(whatever the new term is) – Spinning thunderstorm in the area.
Warning – Seek shelter NOW! – Tornado on the ground.

Antonio Margarito’s co-manager, Francisco Espinoza, spoke with reporter Reymond Colon, and said the "Tijuana Tornado" was delighted with the recent news that WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto was open to a rematch. Margarito knocked Cotto out in eleven rounds two years ago.

After Margarito was suspended for loading his gloves prior to a January 2009 bout with Shane Mosley, heavy doubts began to hang above his win over Cotto. Espinoza says a rematch would prove that Margarito was a honest fighter in the first Cotto fight.

"I thought he was never going to agree to a rematch, and what’s important is the fight benefits Margarito as much as it does Cotto. There are some aspects that make this more interesting than the first fight. And the people would realize that Margarito has always been conducted in an honest manner, and this would provide him with the opportunity to show it," Espinoza said.

Espinoza is not sure if they should go straight for the Cotto rematch, or try to win the vacant WBC junior middleweight title and then hold a unification with Cotto. Margarito is the #2 ranked fighter under the WBC. Espinoza expects the santioning organization to soon issue an order for Margarito and the #1 ranked Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. to fight for the title. He doesn’t expect Chavez Jr. to take the fight. More likely is a third meeting with the #3 ranked Kermit Cintron.

Before anything can happen, Margarito has to get approved for a license to box in the United States.

"This coming month we are going to go to the commission in California. I believe that we more or less fixed the situation. In January, Tony complied with a year of suspension and we are almost in July. He sat out an additional six months," Espinoza said.

Espinoza was impressed with Cotto’s recent big win over Yuri Foreman on June 5.

"He looked impressive. He did very well and looked strong. I thought that it was going to be a hard fight since Margarito could not drop Daniel Santos and Foreman did. I do not know if was simply that Santos had a bad night, but I thought that it would be a hard fight for Cotto. Instead it was one of his easiest fights," Espinoza said.

Is anybody out there aware that a large section of our country is experiencing record flooding, record tornado’s, destruction all the way from Arkansas to Wisconsin, to Ct. ? Does anyone care? Why haven’t we heard about the farmers and their crops? Could it be these are just regular folks? Perhaps even a large majority of them white? Bible grasping, gun toting, salt of the earth folks? You know the one’s, those scary Conservative types?
Jenni j – mwith all due respect to your point of view you obviously have a very limited knowledge as to how our domestic economy is affected very severely by what happens to those folks in the mid-west. Also you extremely flippant attitude ie. quit complaining and fix it. and it is much easier for them to rebuild. Shows a painfully narcisitic view. What exactly do you base your opinion on ? Are you aware of building costs in the mid-west? Are you aware that floods are not covered under normal homeowners insurance? Are you aware that the Federal Flood Insurance fund is Bankrupt? A major cause of that fact is the constant rebuilding of homes in the Gulf Region and further north in the Atlantic? Because people insist on living in hurricane ravaged areas such as the islands off the coast of N. Carolina? By the way the Governors of all these states have asked for Federal assistance, freeing up Federal funds. Is that all these people deserve? Where are their Fundraising concerts? etc.
To that point where are all those special stars ? They had a Haiti Relief Concert whipped up in no time? Granted I do feel for those people,but seriously how much money do you think really made it to the truly needy in Haiti?and not their notoriously corrupt government. Sure, gas prices go up and down. They always do. It’s referred to as a "supply and demand"-cycle: The more demand, the less supply and vice versa; depending on market conditions, global consumption, and certain weather phenomenon.

In 2005, the nation was paying out close to – (or more) in gas per gallon, while the energy industry got a big fat tax rebate from the Bush administration during the same time period (while screwing everyone else from the East Coast to the West Coast in relief at the pump) that Katrina hit and made landfall.

And while prices have been going down for the past six weeks, conservatives seem to be hitching on the *idea* that gas prices will somehow zoom up and out to in 2011 and by the time Obama ends his first term in office. (2012)

Do they have any physical proof that such a thing will happen?

Because I don’t. There’s no major hurricane on the horizon to threaten the Gulf, OPEC hasn’t been crimping supplies or holding up prices, none of the refineries have been shut down or hampered by accidents this year, and global demand hasn’t been all that heavy.

And most experts agree that whatever price increase is going to happen, isn’t going to be extreme, but modest and easily absorbed by the consumer at the pump.

But the right?

I know they’ve been clamoring and telling people the total "awfulness" of the moratorium that Obama has put into place as a safety measure against any future oil accidents or new construction of drilling platforms and other large-scale equipment, but even a six-month freeze won’t cripple the oil industry or the Gulf Coast’s ability to continue to pump out and process large quantities of oil.
