Well there is a tornado warning in my town… I doubt that there will be one because we never have any but I was wondering what would be the safest place. We don’t have a basement and I know your supposed to go in a bathroom with a tub but the one bathroom without any windows has no tub and the ones with tubs have windows… What would be the safest room?

Years ago there was a video shown on the show "Strange Universe". It showed in one video clip 6 tornadoes going on at the same time. It was amazing and I would love to see it again. I have searched on youtube.com and have yahooed and googled it and no results. Of course the show is no longer on anymore. Any suggestions or help??

it’s a tie between two for me..

the first one…I lived with my father briefly in the mid west…the first night I got there he sat me down and had a serious talk about tornadoes and safety..he went off on a big thing about how common they were in these parts and how the town has a warning siren and he said …"if you EVER hear that siren this is what you do…please, go and and wait under the crawl space underneath the house…then he showed me this filthy little place underneath the house and told me I would most likely be safe there.. I didn’t think much of it until the next day when my father was at work…and then I heard it…the siren!!!! i almost crapped my pants and flew underneath to this nasty crawl place where I stayed for like an hour, crying and rocking myself back and forth for comfort.

WELL!!! it turns out that the town sounded the siren everyday at noon as a test !!!

oh man… I was sooooooooooo mad when I found out…
and then one time when I was about 9… I heard a knock on the door and my family starts calling that my friend is there and I was in a super bad mood and I was like I’m not coming but they practically forced me to the door and when I opened it my father rushed in with some weird wig on his head screaming "Arrrrrrrrrggggghhh" and attacked me…

I was shaking for like an hour

I had a Motorola RIZR Z3, and I’m getting rid of it because I just bought the HTC Tornado. Anyway, I have a lot of pictures of my fiance and me on my RIZR phone, and I’d like to keep them because some of them are really cute. Is there any way I can transfer them onto my computer, or my SIM card (I will be using the same one for my new cell phone)? And if I can transfer them to my new computer, can I transfer them to my new Tornado phone? Thanks!

I looked this question up and everyone answered similar questions with "natural disasters happen all over the world." I understand that and simply want to know a little bit about what it is like to live in a places that gets frequent tornadoes.

I just got done watching the movie Twister and I can’t imagine myself living in tornado prone areas. I have lived in NJ, CA and HI (NJ pretty much my whole life and absolutely nothing happens there but minor weather conditions the four seasons brings with it) and have seen thunder and lighting at the worst but nothing more. I have never experienced any natural disaster and was wondering what it was like to live where tornadoes hit. I can’t imagine having to rebuild your house every time one comes along, that is what you do if you get tornadoes often right? Does it get expensive?

I know you can’t get away from bad things happening but tornadoes occur all of the time in the middle of the US and I was curious why you would want to live in fear. Also photo albums and all your important stuff, what do you do with all of it? Do you keep all important documents in storage? How often do they hit where you are from? I am just curious to know if its fearful seeing a tornado in your path. Thanks =)

Sounds crazy, but my community was hit by a tornado last night… When I turn the TV on, an error message appears on the screen. There is a progress bar that says ___ out of 5 at the bottom of the screen, but it never gets past 1. Customer service can’t be here until the end of the week, so is there something I can do myself to fix the problem?

Here where I live, people seem to believe this very delusion. Tornadoes have been observed going down mountainsides! This was even shown on the weather channel. So why do people believe this myth? I actually had people tell me that they where completely safe because their house was surrounded by hills. I don’t think so!

We are going to be moving out in the country, and have looked at really, really nice and roomy trailers (mobile homes, whatever) at a mobile home manufacturer. We want to live in it while we build a house on the land, and then just have it for guests or maybe an elderly relative.

But I’m wondering about their safety. I would have a tornado cellar nearby, so that’s not a problem, but I wonder about fires. I’ve heard they burn hotter and faster than houses and that mobile home manufacturers use a lot of chemicals in making them (what kind of chemicals?) I have small children, and later if we have an elderly relative live in it, I don’t want the place to ignite easily. Can you put sprinkler systems in them? Does anyone NOT like mobile homes? Do they need a lot of repair? Do you know of any reputable manufacturers in Kansas? We’d put it on a slab rather than blocks–that’s the plan anyway.

Is there anything MH manufacturers DON’T tell you? Are they build better nowadays?

P.S. The word "Mobile" in mobile home has to do with the fact that they were invented in or near Mobile, Alabama–not because they are "mobile"–although they are that!

many people have quick remarks like "don’t farm in a flood plain" to those losing everything in mississippi, or "what did you expect?" to those living in the path of the latest california wildfires.

Has anyone ever "weathered" no pun intended, a tornado in one of the newer safe rooms that are commercially availible (some made of kevlar) or seen pictures of one and a structure after an actual tornado? I’m thinking Greensburg, surely in that storm sombody had to have a saferoom because only 11 people out of 1500 died, those are pretty good odds.

I have a powerpoint to do about severe weather. I am trying to get these videos from YouTube of footage of hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc and my teacher wants proof that it can be used. She wants us to highlight and print off the Terms of Use page and show were we have the right to use these videos, clipart, photos, etc. Are all YouTube photos free to use?
